Currently watching ashes to crown, is zhou yiran fated to get beaten up to death in all his historical dramas?

OMG, https://kisskh.at/700335-cases-of-the-south with Zhang Xin Cheng and Ding Yu Xi set in the year 1916 has started airing on iQIYI today, 1 day after releasing its latest trailer. Yet I can't free my time until maybe 19 June. Goodness. Checking douban and everyone gives 5 out of 5 stars. Should I even sleep?

I would have totally missed this today so thank you. It wasn't on my airing calendar at all. 😮‍💨 Then again, I also don't have time to watch it neither. 😩 Yeah, I should just skip sleep next time.

Ahaha, but apparently there's a mdl article about the release date. I didn't know at all as at first the rumor said it'd air on 10 June (but it didn't) then when I opened iQIYI, it disappeared from coming soon. So I opened update today and wow it was released already. I'll catch up with it after finishing what I need to finish. I just hope there's no other 30-40 episodes Chinese dramas I ptw being released this month. Please come next month.

I'm actually glad for once that Ashes to Crown is 24 episodes because I have so much on my CWL I'm about to cry.

Ashes to Crown: only 4 more episodes to go and I think that was the right call because I feel like the pacing is perfect for this type of drama. Truthfully, its a little bit of a Mary Sue drama, but I can admit I love it. With the political maneuvering and wars, then thrown in a bit of romance and fantasy and I become the easiest person to please. Biased rating: 8/10 Unbiased rated: 7/10.

The First Jasmine/ Mo Li: I was expecting to like this. Was not expecting it to be this good. No biases here, this is just a damn good drama so far. As we continue to see more of Ye Li's past I have suspension about how she grew up and how we are seeing that effect her emotionally and mentality. This is a drama I feel like I have to keep reevaluating my opinion on every character, because they all keep surprising me. A complete joy to watch.

Archives: The Nanyang Mystery: I'm still behind on episodes here, but anything in the The Grave Robbers' Chronicles universe is a must watch for me. I still have to watch the mystic nine too. 😅 'So behind' should be my moto right now. Anyway, Ding Yu Xi is always brilliant and this will be my first complete drama I watch of Zhang Xin Cheng as JITD and Go Ahead where both put on hold (i am coming back to them), but his acting is also so fun to watch. As for the drama, yes it's exactly what I thought it would be. If you have even watched any of The Lost Tomb series, the humor, action, and bromance are the same. I love the detective work here too. And just like The Lost Tomb series, it's hard to tell what is magical and what will have a reasonable explanation. It's a little drinking game I like to play. 😂

Don't cry, you can choose to abandon them haha

I skip Archives: The Nanyang Mystery.

It is eliminated today.

I went on major clean up and deleted more than 125 drama titles from my ptw list. I think I've been too ambitious previously. Better keep it at the minimum (under 300 with 100 - 105 are upcoming).

Already finished Whisper of Desire; that crazy drama with crazy ending and in the process to finish Likit Haeng Jan (9/14, 90-110 minutes per eps). After that, I'll watch and finish the season 2 of Cheng He Ti Tong donghua version before starting Cheng Lei and Wang Chu Ran's How Dare You!? / Cheng He Ti Tong live adaptation drama next month.

Somehow I feel it's hard to start a currently airing Chinese drama. I mean I like Bai Lu. And I kinda like Cheng Lei, Zhang Xin Cheng, Ding Yu Xi, Zhai Zi Lu, and Zhou Yi Ran (male) amongst the drama you mentioned. But I always think a lot before watching Chinese drama and Korean drama. And when I decided to just watch carelessly just because I like one or two or three or all actors starring, I usually end up dropping them. If it's dropped early like Zhan Zhao Adventures (5 eps) it's okay, but for The Legend of Shen Li (32 eps) I feel kinda sad. I think of people who never drop a drama as a kind person, really. I dropped everything and put a lot on-hold but then I dropped them too. Next year, I'll stop putting any drama on-hold and just drop them rightaway. But first I need to complete all the dramas on my on-hold list. None bad, all great, just not watching it in the right time. For Chinese dramas, I put Swords into Plowhares, The Embers, The Knockout, and The Knockout on hold. None bad, right?

The Mystic Nine was great. I'm sad that Zhang Yi Xing and Zhao Li Ying won't be back for the sequel, but there's cutie big eyed Zeng Shun Xi coming. It's good, it's all good. But I'm going to wait and see before deciding to watch it or not. After all the vibe will be completely different.
