Day 7 - Favorite non-Asian LGBTQ+ drama/movie of 2025

As many others here, I haven't watched any non-Asian lgbtq+ dramas or movies that were released this year. I do plan on watching Heated Rivalry once all the episodes are out.

same here 💯

DECEMBER 2025 BL CHALLENGE
Day 7: Favorite non-Asian LGBTQ+ drama/movie of 2025

Just today, just for this challenge, I've watched the series Boots available on Netflix (8 episodes), ans it was worth the watch - not a BL but a series about being gay in the US military in the 1990's (in short). The acting was pretty good, and the OST very enjoyable for us who were almost grown-ups in the nineties 🙂

Head 2 Head tonight was REALLY good!

DAY 7 - Favourite non-Asian LGBTQ+ drama/film of 2025 I've watched the 3 episodes that have been released (it's on HBOMax) and it's been following the book(s) fairly well, so I'll say Heated Rivalry.

Head 2 Head

I'm lovin' how fun this series is! The parents and the boy's relationships are a hoot. Sea & Keen are doing a super job with their roles. I like how Farm & Van's relationship is evolving slowly.

Just an all-round really great drama!

I came here to pretty much say the same thing, lol.

Yes to all of this! I'm also just now finishing ep 1 of Me and Thee. I really like it so far. everyone looks great, but Santa is REALLY looking so good in this. I'm super excited to see Perth & Santa getting more roles together, although supports. They way they killed it in their first roles together as a pair in Perfect 10 Liners, they NEED to have their own series.

I'm starting EP 3 prob tomorrow.  So far this has been a great watch too.

Santa is always 🔥

I can see myself doing a rewatch of 10 Liners someday. That means I REALLY like it!! 🤣

I started "Me and Thee" on Saturday and blasted right through the four aired episodes. Given my short attention span, this is testimony to how good it is.

"Love You Teacher" starring Perth and Santa is in production, last I heard at Q13 - so I assume you'll get your wish in 1Q 2026.

I've been a big fan of Santa since "My Only 12%" - and of course, of Perth since "LBC", when he was just 16. (By the time of "LBC2" two years later, he already looked so different!)

DECEMBER 2025 BL CHALLENGE

Day 8: Favorite Japanese BL of 2025
1. Punk's Triangle - There's no words to say how much I enjoyed this drama. It was so fun, sensual, and chaotic. I enjoyed the mysterious and sensual AE, the clumsy and sweet Enaga, and the obsessed and cute Chiaki.

2. It's so stinkin' adorable! That's all I have to say here.

Special Mention: 10Dance seriously has the potential to join my fav Japanese BL of the year list, so we'll see how it goes🤷‍♀️

Day 8 December Challenge: Favorite Japanese Bl 2025

Schooltrip: Joined a group i'm not close to:

It is my favorite Bl. I haven't watched all bls this year because most of them are on my plan to watch list.  It has a cozy vibe and I like the relationship between the group really much.

For those who haven't yet watched the superb "Secrets Happened on the Litchi Island", or who want to do a re-watch, good news: The newly posted Gagaoolala release is a more convenient movie version - with normal (non-tiny) subtitles!!!

If I didn't just do a re-watch a few days ago, I would right now. Or maybe I will anyways. I love it!

I was hoping this version would have better subtitles! Definitely rewatching soon!

BL Challenge Day 8: Favourite Japanese BL of 2025

Tough choice. It's been a good year for JBLs.

I think I'll tentatively pick "Therapy Game", even though there are still three episodes left, but "Our Youth" and "Punks Triangle" are also definite contenders for the top spot (with some others coming close).

There are a few lists of 2025 JBLs on MDL, but this one seems to be the most complete:

Of the 23 titles (excluding "Soul Mate", delayed until 2026), I've watched or am watching 16, of which all were at least reasonably good. 16 out of 16 is a pretty good batting average.

DECEMBER 2025 BL CHALLENGE

˚₊‧꒰ა Day Eight ໒꒱‧₊˚

Favorite Japanese BL of 2025!

Futtara Doshaburi

The cinematography is among the finest I have encountered in a JBL; it captivated me right from the start. I am completely enamored with the ending OST, which has become one of my favorite tracks to listen to on Spotify this year.

The chemistry between Kazuaki and Sei may not resonate with everyone, but I found it to be quite intense. Their attraction isn't overtly flashy; rather, it is conveyed through their conversations and the unique love language they share, which truly resonated with me. The emails exchanged between them left me speechless; if they can express such deep emotions through email, I can only imagine how their discussions will evolve as they grow more comfortable communicating verbally in their relationship.

I adore the theme of rain in this narrative, as it encapsulates both emotional depth and romance. Speaking of romantic relationships, the character writing in this series was profoundly impactful. I genuinely appreciated the dialogues that unfolded, which revolved around themes of sexual desire, obsession, fear of loss, and communication barriers. I am particularly drawn to stories that evoke such powerful emotions.

While I acknowledge that the topic of infidelity is part of the discussion, I want to clarify: our two main characters were trapped in loveless relationships, being taken advantage of by their partners, and so they truly deserve happiness.

The symbolism in the art gallery was truly breathtaking.
