This is so funny because when I started watching bls many of them had only an implied sex scene and few kisses. Luckily bl genre has made major progress even if A Tale of Thousand Stars is one of the good examples that drama doesn't need kiss or sex scenes to be good.
I consider bl to be a title with two men having romantic feelings for each other. Intimate scenes are not necessary but good chemistry is 😌
I agree , this is exactly what I was trying to get across you probably worded it better than me. I believe like yourself as long as their is romance & chemistry , good emotions & feelings that intimacy isn't necessary.
I am yet to watch A Tale of Thousand Stars but it's one that has been on my list for a while as many have said it's really good , it's also mentioned often 🤍

I want to cry because it seems like Ohm Pawat is closing his bl chapter , the last one he was in was Kidnap in 2024 so a year has gone without him playing a main in a bl. he isn't in a pairing & has been starring in the usual romance series , this man got me into the bl genre. I really like him so I wanna see more , even say if it's something with a lower rating I am sure I would like anything he is in. I actually really enjoyed Kidnap anyways & the pairing of those two but from what I've heard it's very unlikely they will do something together again 😭
I think ON fandom really ruined the chance of Ohm going back to BL. They're way too hung up on ON to give a fuck about his subsequent BL series. It's too bad because I think Ohm was doing a great job at playing ML in BL series. But, it is what it is, in the end.
I dropped Kidnap though. Went through drama slump and then lost interest in the series. :(

So I did say I want kisses and NC scenes to feel satisfied— but that’s actually not entirely true. I agree with your definition of BL and there are some I really love that don’t even have a kiss. It’s not that it has to have kisses or NC scenes to be good. It’s just that I’m usually left wanting them if they’re not there. on the flip side, though, if the show isn’t good, it takes away from the NC scenes. The best shows have a great story and kisses or NC scenes are used to reinforce the plot, not just thrown in to make it spicy. My favorite NC scenes are the ones that are crucial to the story, like in The End of the World With You or 4 Minutes.
for the record my highest rated bl is 180 Degrees Longitude Passes Through Us, and it doesn’t have a kiss or a HA. But it’s an incredible psychological drama. I love Our Dining Table, which has dead fish kisses only, and the On1y One, which didn’t even get to finish the story. I adore Tale of a Thousand Stars. I like all the kinds of BLs, frankly. But that includes smut, for sure.
my favorite comfort BLs include At 25:00 in Akasaka and Your Sky, because they have all the things I want, and tell their stories really well.

I agree. I think Ohm Pawat could be good in many pairs, but with the fandom the way it is, GMMTV may just keep him in straight roles. I personally loved Kidnap, despite the story holes. I’m sad not to see OhmLeng again.
