Like many people I am getting overwhelmed with so many new shows. Combined with my effort to watch some kdramas, cdramas, and GLs, it is hard to keep up. I also just haven’t felt moved by many BL shows yet this year.
Sammy’s Children’s Day
This has been my favorite watch recently. I basically agree with everyone else. I’m worried about the ending and want something satisfying, but can’t picture it giving me everything I want in one episode. But if we get some really good kissing that would make me happy. I know an NC scene may be too much to ask for.
Fake Fact Lips
This is one of those “rivals to lovers” shows where we all know how the characters feel even if they don’t. I think it will be fun to watch though, and Sato Yusuke is gorgeous! Nothing new here but Japanese shows often turn “nothing new” into touching and meaningful, so I’m totally seated for this. Hoping for more exciting NC scenes too.
Love of Silom
I thought this was a good set up for something potentially more exciting. The incredibly gorgeous Poom Phuripan is also adorable as a love-struck puppy, and Up delivers even when playing stoic. I think they are both really talented and look forward to more chemistry and excitement as this show goes on. I just hope we won’t have to wait too long for Up’s character to give in to his feelings a bit more.
Flower Boy
I really liked this first episode. PearlPeak are still fire together. The story is unusual and promises some interesting twists and turns, although we can probably guess what many will be. Still, i think it will be a fun ride.
Unexpectedly Naughty Fukami
While this story is pretty straightforward, I love a reformed bad boy, especially a seriously love struck one. I can’t say I’m not enjoying the spicy NC scenes as well, especially when the underlying emotions are an important part of the plot. I hope the show can keep the excitement up for the duration of the series.
Love Upon a Time
I am finally enjoying this but I can’t say I’m fully invested yet. Maybe the wait for PhopKlao to finally hook up will pull me in this week. Net really is wonderful eye candy, but the plot is lacking somewhat. I wasn’t even sure what most this week’s episode had to do with uncovering the mystery of Klao’s past. I was excited to see LatteKim in a series too, but Kim’s hair is so awful it’s distracting me from enjoying their interactions. We are almost halfway through so I am counting on episode 6 to be the turning point that levels up this series. If not, we’ll just have to accept that every DMD series can’t be amazing.
Only Friends: Dream On
We got a lot more drama this week but it felt rather forced to me, like we had to have a break up so they came up with something to cause it. I still like all these couples, but JossGawin’s characters just don’t quite fit them well. EarthMix hold their own as always, but we can all see AouBoom are the real shining stars of this series. They are the only couple showing powerful emotional conflicts and development as the story goes on. I always stick out even the worst shows for EarthMix, but AouBoom are the ones who will make this worth the ride.
