Love Like a Bike
I know some people were frustrated with this show, and rightfully so, but I want to offer my opinion.
I really liked the idea of a show about healing past traumas through relationships. I don’t believe a relationship alone can usually do this, but I liked that Sailom actually sought treatment for what was clearly a serious case of complex PTSD. Of course the show had him recover far too quickly, but at least it was supposed to be because of treatment and feeling secure with Nabneung. I thought they were a cute couple too and I enjoyed watching them together. I wasn’t really interested in NavaSky’s story, but I did want to know more about Sky’s role as a host, since it seems to be portrayed differently in different shows. Otherwise their story was predictable. Also I didn’t feel much chemistry there. For me the stand out couple was definitely DindinTawan. Their chemistry was palpable, and their NC scenes were great. Yes, it was absurd to have sex on the side of the road after meeting for one minute and fighting, but I still loved their energy.
There is no question that everything wrapped up way too quickly at the end, making the healing of all the characters less meaningful. More time in general also should have been devoted to Tawan’s history and trauma as well as recovery.
I thought the family dynamics between the brothers, the sister, and the adopted mom were really sweet and I enjoyed seeing them all together.
I was shocked to see a second BL with an estranged parent seeking out their child for a bone marrow donor. (This is also in Ai Long Nhai.) I didn’t think this could actually be its own story trope. But I am learning no tropes are too obscure!
Overall, while this show had some problems with pacing and adequate story progression, I still really enjoyed it. Masu and Tee were cute and TaUs were scorching. It wasn’t the best BL but it also was definitely not a waste of time.
