For a second, I thought it was AI because the lead looks so good 😆

lol exactlyyy 😂

If I'm not wrong, it's not the first time you've mentioned kitchen accidents. Even if I tell you to be careful, it's easier said than done 😆 I'm someone who bumps into things every day, so I always have bruises.

Somehow things just happen no matter how careful I try to be. Ouch to having bruises every day!

"Chef", haha. Sure, that's me, lol.

On a totally different note, Est’s artwork in the show is ridiculously bad!

😂😂😂His art does not match expectations. I question the character's taste but there is a market for everything. They should have gone for a fully camp /pop art aesthetic or something. The butterfly motif could have been explored more too. I thought gmmtv was just lazy but apparently the art style is intentional for the story.🤯

100% agree. That artwork is legit terrible and looks like something I would have thought was cute when I was 13.

Duty First, Kiss Later : It was pretty good, and the characters were quite endearing. I thought there would be more police cases, but since it was short, it's normal that we saw more of the relationship side. It was a good watch ! I recommend it if you want something short, simple and not too heavy. 8/10

I liked it too. BL's need to have more mature couples and stories in general. It would be nice to see more

agree!

I'm not really good at expressing my thoughts, but I'll try : I'm not against shipping. I ship people too, but it should stay respectful and we shouldn't pressure the actors. We shouldn't ask them to do things like have more skinship, for example, and make them uncomfortable just because we ship them. They don't owe us anything. We can see them in series or at events, but outside of that, they can do whatever they want.

And I think the same goes for real couples. They can share whatever they're comfortable sharing, but we shouldn't ask them for more. I'm happy to see cute videos of my favourite pairings, but I don't want them to feel forced to do anything.

I know, right? That was my first BL so it took a few rewatches before I even understood the whole sponsorship thing. Then I looked up the coffee and it wasn’t real! Such a good show, yet so little success. Park Seoham eventually got a supporting role in a straight kdrama with Rowoon (The Murky Stream), but it wasn’t a huge success either. I still hope it leads to more opportunities for him. He is talented and not afraid to credit his BL work.

Teach Me, Touch Me ep1

I loved James Pongsapak in Don’t Say No, so I’ve been waiting to see him in another drama. This one looked fun from the trailers. I think it will be fun, but I wouldn’t say it’s high quality. The dialogue wasn’t exactly sophisticated, and it looks rather low budget. But James looks fine, and I could use a bit of light drama after Boy, With Caution and Four Hands, Two Sonatas.

Despite Four Hands’ happy ending, I’m still recovering from all the trauma. I’ve been letting it settle before I write about it. Don’t get me wrong, Boy, With Caution and Four Hands are brilliant, but sometimes I’ve had enough intensity and just need something with less emotional investment. Teach Me, Touch Me fits the bill. Plus, sexy.

i hope so too. there's another guy i want to see more of, Ok Jin Uk who starred in Cherry Blossoms After Winter. I first saw him as a Bully in Teach You A Lesson and his transformation in Cherry Blossoms is insane lol

I loved "Semantic Error"! I didn't know that it wasn't so successful, but maybe because it was relatively early among KBLs (2022), when the socially conservative Korean market wasn't ready for it (?).

jazme:
Ok Jin Uk who starred in Cherry Blossoms After Winter.

Yes, that one was another KBL winner (also 2022). These early BLs made such an impression on me; nowadays the flood of BLs titles is overwhelming that they start to blur together in my mind.

Unlike Japan, where we see more and more actors (often idols) doing multiple JBLs without fear for their careers, I assume the social stigma in Korea is still more of an issue and that idols or unestablished actors use KBLs as a stepping stone (?).

Me, too! I was alway disappointed that the sequel "Just Say Yes" never materialised, as I really wanted to see more of the Leon/Pob story (i.e. James Pongsapak with Smart Chisanupong of "Top Form" fame).

I also remember how cute the real-life identical twin actors Chai Sinsophak and Seng Suphaksin (below) were in "Don't Say No" and was always disappointed that they never went on to leading or at least supporting roles in some kind of clever BL story involving identical twins. They would've been perfect.

I really enjoyed this one ! I think it's probably one of the most successful KBLs. I remember the hype was pretty huge, and it even helped the K-pop group of one of the main leads become more popular for a few months.

I'm happy he managed to get a main role in the currently airing straight romance Dive into You

For now, I don't know if I want to watch it or read the novel, but the fact that the main couple is a real couple IRL definitely makes me more tempted to give it a try !

Exactly ! I remember being shocked and impressed by his transformation. I'd love to see more of him !

I'm currently watching After Moving Seats... between two Korean exam practice tests, and I'm enjoying it ! I'd completely forgotten that one of the leads is Konishi Eito from Takara's Treasure. It's nice to see him again !

For KBLs from 2022 that I don't see on your completed list, I'd recommend Blueming and To My Star (both seasons). From 2023, I'd recommend Our Dating Sim !
