I mostly identify as an alien or half alien humanoid

Not trying to do armchair diagnosis here, but it is common for autistic people to feel like aliens, like they don't belong amongst humanity, so at the very least you're not alone in feeling like that. The first big autism forum was called 'wrong planet' haha. But yeah it's fine to just not care to find labels.

It’s a topic i want to research, but tbh i dont know where to look XD

I will dig up my stuff on that at some point when I have time. You sent me the timestamps for Molly's scenes in The Warp Effect, and then I went into a rabbithole about toms (because I wanted to find out why Molly doesn't identify as one), so I do have *some* stuff, but not enough imo. It's a 6000 word chaos document on my computer right now lol.

Welcome. By commenting here, you have automatically joined.

I've just finished "Only You".

Here are some thoughts (with minor spoilers) ...

I was reluctant to even start this drama due to the number of the negative reviews and comments, but now I've finished it, I'm glad I ignored the negative comments and watched it.
The bottom line is I enjoyed it. It definitely had some weaknesses, but it also had a lot to like, and it is those positives that I want to focus on first.
* The story was sufficiently engaging to retain my interest for the duration.
* The production was quite high, both in cinematography and audio. I also liked the OST.
* The acting was fine for this type of drama.
* There was quite a bit of comedy, especially from the three body guards.
* The leads had plenty of chemistry, with lots of cute moments.

Next, I'll list some things that some other viewers criticised, but didn't bother me at all.
* There were quite a few product placements, but I've seen dozens and dozens of dramas with product placements, so they don't bother me.
* The lead's intimate scenes were quite subdued and less spicey when comared to some other recent Thai GLs.
* Ayla cried a lot. It's true, she really did, but I wasn't bothered by it.

Lastly, I'll point out some changes which (in my opinion) would have resulted in a better drama.
* The story could have been tidied up and tightened up. The writing was OK, but not brilliant and I don't think 14 episodes were needed to tell this story. Personally I think Ayla's illness subplot should have been cut out.
* I'm really not a fan of noble idiocy as a plot device, so I really would have preferred it wasn't used.
* The fight scene choreography could have been improved.
* Tawan's and Ayla's dads going from bitter enemies to best buddies instantly didn't seem even remotely believable to me.
My score: 7.5 / 10

As this was discussed earlier, I'll provide the perspective of a straight CIS man. I simply watch Thai GLs because I enjoy them. They are (generally) fluffy, low-angst and easy to watch stories with happy endings. Even though the quality isn't always the highest, I still usually find the stories enjoyable (I've only ever dropped one Thai GL drama). The suggestion that it is "weird" that a straight man would enjoy GL content implies that the primary motivation for him watching that content is for perverted sexual gratification. I have no doubt that there are straight men who watch lesbian content for that exact reason, but it is certainly not my motivation. If it was my motivation, (which again, it is not) then I'd be watching lesbian porn (or at least explicit movies) rather than the VERY non-explicit Thai GL dramas.

well, alright, then! that's fine.. ^_^/sacr

Not trying to be a "MiSaNdRiSt!!!!" but, it's still weird to me. sooooo...

You find it weird that someone watches dramas they enjoy? Well, I apologise, but I can't control what you find weird.

I do want to put an end to this conversation here though. There’s a lot of reasons someone may watch a drama, many of which do not have to stem from or only involve attraction. Youre entitled to your belief that it seems weird, and you wouldnt be off base for some male viewers, but i encourage you to ponder on why you think that weirdness applies to all men? Is it the thought of them watching something female-led? The thought of them watching romance? Etc. And why is any of that weird to you?

Just like when it comes to getting to know different folks of different sexualities or races or cultural backgrounds, asking your gut reaction “why?” is a good practice. What the outcome/conclusion to that question can vary, but i still encourage the question. (Who knows, it might be rooted more in misogyny and toxic masculinity than in misandry and feminism…)

My policy is that all fans of GL or other wlw/sapphic works are welcome in this club and in the corresponding discord. The condition is respect. To other members and to the actresses.

MarkWasHere is MarkIsWelcomeHere to me. He’s been a great asset to discussions, sharing information, and hyping up airing dramas.

I myself have slacked on it in the forum, as i find forums to be not very mobile friendly in this current iteration of MDL. Discord is easier to share info on imo. But it is a practice i fully intend to work on.

I hope you dont think im attacking you Chiharu. You are welcome here as well! And im sure you are not the only one in this club who shares that opinion. But I will defend the guys in this club too. Just as Ive defended against other strikes and criticisms of other kinds - even if im not aware of anyone in the club who fits the description.

To turn the page, can you recommend something from recent dramas, that is easy to watch and fluffy? Something like Queendom, Somewhere Somehow, Love Design(not finished yet)  - I really liked all these, Queendom the most. I plan to watch Whale Store Xoxo next. But idk what else to watch. I don't want shows with heavy angst or sad scenes. My eyes are dry now and I need something to wet them and for that I need happy and fluffy scenes and happy endings.

@kardasx those are some of the ones I liked best as well. If you haven't watched Ayaka is in Love with Hiroko yet, watch that, both seasons. 23.5 and Whale Store are also pretty fluffy. Try Us as well :)

Have you ever watched any of the low budget web drama GLs? In terms of quality, they are quite amateur, but if you're looking for fluff and cuteness, they have a LOT. They usually have episodes that are only 10 - 20 minutes long, and perhaps only 4 to 6 episodes. If you're looking for a sugar rush of cuteness, they might be just what you need while you look for your next full length drama.

Popular YouTube channels with short GL web dramas include:

JPC Media
H'our channel
HER&HERs
Sapphic Love

I also reguarly watch the GL series on the Vietnamese YouTube channel CHẠM. It's pretty cheesy and very amateur, but I enjoy it. Here is their current GL drama.

Lastly, as you are a fan of Queendom, have you seen Arhoung Nattawadee Pipobpornchai's first GL drama, filmed when she was only 17. It is very cute and fluffy. As far as I know, this was the first Thai GL ever released (before GAP). It's was only two episodes long and both episodes are fused into a single movie here. Just be aware the romance between the two girls is almost non-existant, which is probably appropriate based on their ages.

You don't count Yes or No?

Thai people definitely seem to count that movie. The GL reality show 'Love Moment' recently invited the main two over and introduced them as 'the og GL couple'.

I guess I was thinking about the very recent phemenon of Thai multi-episode GL dramas that most people think started with "Gap". But I realise I'm probably being a bit pedantic here, because the two episode "Love of Secret" drama has about the same total length as does the movie "Yes or No".

You do have a point though, but it's like... it's a public forum. There's nothing we can do about males joining tbh. If it was a female only yuri/GL Discord server or website for example, that would have been much better. That being said, I don't think you're a "misandrist" for saying you don't want males watching lesbian media. It's a given they shouldn't watch them since it's not for them (or at least it shouldn't be targeted to them). Also, I think the GL couple pairings would have far fewer fans if we'd only include lesbian and bi women in their fandoms. As weird as male GL fans are, they do contribute to the overall success of a series through views and other things like supporting the GL couples. Everything revolves around money too, which is not necessarily a good or bad thing, it just is. /shrugs

I'd also say that most GL actresses are gay for pay anyway and it shows. Take Love Pattranite for example. Didn't she not want to do GL series a while back? And now she's fine with it because the pay is good. It's one reason I can't really get into MilkLove series anymore, even if I do like Milk Pansa a lot. As I said, everything revolves around money.

oh man, I dropped 23.5. I don't think I'll pick it up again.

Maybe fluffy stories are not my cup of tea. Some angst? Some obsession? No? I'm out then. haha
