Samcheonpo is my favorite character in Reply 1994 because he's so real. I know a lot of people were dogging him because he kind of shut down initially at Yoon Jin, but I didn't. He's been nothing but sweet to her since they started being a couple and he even braved all the crazy fangirls to see concerts with her. I felt awful for him when YJ told him she wanted him to just go away. I understand where she was coming from (I cried for hours alone in my dorm room when my favorite baseball player, Sean Casey, was traded in 2005), but my heart hurt for SCP. The scene after he gets the toilet and brings it to Yoon Jin was one of my favorites of the series because it showed how relationships have to be built on communication. Instead of pushing Seo Taiji under the rug like they had when speaking together, those two decided to have a conversation about it. As a result, they came to a better understanding not only of the situation, but of each other. In my opinion, those two are gold. For me, they are the show (or at least, how the show should be).

I totally agree with you. He's also the most fun character to watch. Every time he says something funny, i laugh out loud.
Anyway, only 6 episodes to go...

I'm not expecting a huge twist as well and the last statement. I read somewhere that the writers/prod team/PD were open to change who the hubby is based on public sentiment. And I was like, haaa? Are they for real? Don't they have a strong belief that the audience is going to accept what they've written?
Seriously? I don't like this idea at all not only because the majority of shippers are on Chil Bong's side but also because the writers should make their own ending without relying on people's reaction. My guess that the writers hinted and went around in circles for a long time that they don't know how to end the whole thing.

I don't like this idea too, I prefer to think that drama scripts are always precisely constructed with the scriptwriter knowing exactly how he wants the story to progress, the whole changing things just to please the audience is disappointing and makes me feel like I'm lied to.
But if the writer IS going to go with the flow (aka let the viewers pick the husband), then it's more probably going to be Trash, because yeah, Chilbongie is super-popular among international fans, but it looks like in Korea Oppa is still no.1.
Still, if the writer picks the husband based on popularity, I'm going to be super-pissed and will never ever ever watch ANY currently airing drama. NEVER!

I don't disagree with you, but have you seen King of Dramas? This kind of thing happens often because let's face it, ultimately a network is going to look at ratings and what the viewer wants. We just don't hear about it like we are now because there's couples on the line which have led to a massive fanwar--a fanwar that has, in my opinion, began to wither the drama. Sometimes it's whether a character will live or die, but we never see the writer's hesitation in making that choice. I think that in Reply 1994 (and despite my love for the Bong), this hesitation has been more and more evident in the last few episodes, and it's beginning to cheapen the show.
And to your statement about never watching a currently airing drama because of the writer's choice in this drama: don't you think that's a little extreme? Essentially, every kdrama trope is based on its popularity, so the first lead/second lead/supporting cast/anything in a drama is going to be based at least somewhat on popularity as much (if not more) than the writer's choice. So you really couldn't watch any drama--airing or not--on that logic.
Even if I agree that the writer picking the husband based on popularity is ridiculous (not to mention indicative of an inefficient writer and/or a weak one), the writer has the right and liberty to write what they wish. We may not like it; we may disagree with their choices, but to say that they can't make that choice is tantamount to saying that a writer cannot have agency. Besides, whichever choice this writer makes is going to be construed as picking based on popularity anyway to appease either the international fans or the Korean fans.
Thus, for this writer, it's a lose-lose situation. They'll be damned if they do and damned if they don't change the current relationship. In this, I feel bad for the writer a bit because sadly, what started out as a drama based more on friendships and the boarding house is quickly becoming all about division, divisiveness, and the creation of a divided fanbase. It's even paralleled in the show with all of its characters leaving the boarding house for one reason or another. Of course, part of it is that they are moving on in life and going their separate ways; that's natural, but part of it (in my opinion) is also the creation of divisions between the characters and the development of barriers to all of characters having happiness. As a writer, that's just how I see it, but feel free to disagree.
What you guys been talking about is what I'm seriously afraid of..That writers will go with public opinion instead of what they had already planned!! And I tell you, I love Reply 1994, but the mistery and stuff is seriously throwing me off and annoying me... I find myself just wishing that more Sam Cheon Po x Yoon Ji scenes because you already know they're married and seeing how the relationship develops and how they learn about each other is getting SERIOUSLY more interesting than freakin' na jeong's freakin' husband! Just get it over already!!
And i don't know how the overall thing is but, even though I'm Team Chil Bong, if they force a relationship between them in 6 episodes and have them marry w/o any proper developing after annoying us with god damn trash for 15 ep i'm gonna give reply 94 a 0!!!!
I wonder why Trash is so popular with Korean fans? I am personally finding him quite annoying and quite self-righteous. I don't find his immature behaviour cute or attractive. I had the same reaction to Jung Woo in Lee Soon Shin too, I think there is just something about him that misses the mark.
I also think there haven't been any really romantic scenes between NJ and Trash to help the fans be on his side, whereas CB has had great romantic scenes with NJ! Honestly, I've never seen a drama where the second lead gets so many romantic scenes with the girl, they usually just float around in the background half-heartedly declaring their love.
I'm just confused, I don't understand all the Trash love :S

Wow seriously, they will leave the decision for the public's reaction? I mean who are the writers? I cannot agree with this method and that's one of the reasons why I seriously hate the live shooting system. The first 10 episodes (preshot) were so balanced and interesting to follow but starting ep 11 where the live shooting took place, things began to piss me off.
On a bright note, I still find it hard to believe that this is Yoo Jin. Make-up can do magic!

She's so pretty. She makes me feel like a potato. Lol. I love her makeup, even though I can't wear either shade of lipstick.
Ni_azevedo wrote: Well don't know if will be gone for good. The previews are always fooling me but it showed her parents talking asking him if he was really going and that it was the best for him and Na jeong and him were sit next to each other in a sad scene.
Yeah the previews are misleading--everything is misleading lol

No one can beat SCP with that. The man endured so much, folding every time Yoon Jin would snap at him that I almost hated her for being so domineering. And then it took one toilet bowl to bring them closer together. XD Ah the green humor in this drama, really!

DC Gallery is actually rooting for Sseuregi

It's always tricky to watch currently airing dramas. I've always thought it would be better to just dramathon because waiting like this every week adds to the frustration.
@dapinaymrs--I know, right? I think it's funny because the earlier episode where the power went out when SCP was on the toilet had one of the other boarders (I think it was Haitai) say to Yoon Jin, "The man on the toilet is going to be your man" or something similar. Funnily enough, that statement was kind of foreshadowing, although I'm not sure if it was intentional. The man with the toilet is Yoon Jin's man, lol.

Yeah, but when I watch a drama "live" I'm frustrated, have hopes, see fanwars etc, meanwhile if I just marathoned Reply I would miss all those stuff and just enjoy the drama more, knowing that the husband is already picked and nothing's gonna change. I stalled watching Reply for now, I'll wait till it ends because I can't focus on the plot and the whole messing with our heads bothers me.

Although I personally don't find Jung Woo attractive and his character, Sseuregi, I don't think CB has had that many romantic scenes with NJ as she had with Sseuregi. Are we watching the same drama? At one point, I even felt (and I am sorry for the word for NJ fans) disgusted seeing her trying to pull Sseuregi to sneak into her room. Just no girl, NO. And yes, I don't understand the Trash love either!
Ni_azevedo wrote: Well Na jeong character pisses me off a little so I think they kinda understand each other but like you said he's so unattractive with such childish behaviour. But oh well, this is what asians like so we have to watch their tastes.
Yah! Don't make general statements like that! I'm Asian and there is no way I'd prefer a guy who lives like that lol! And international fans include people from Asia (who are not from Korea!)
