Nawwhhh the reason why Trash is so popular is because he is realistic. He's the most considerate of not just himself but other's feelings that he tends to neglect himself. He's the neighbourhood brother that looks out for everyone, but is flawed in understanding love - which in time he will understand. What he lacks Najung completes, what Najung lacks Trash completes.

He might not be attractive to you, but to others he is and no it's not just Asian people's taste - I can ensure that.
I get why Trash would seem attractive...specially to Na Jeong, I mean, they've been living like siblings their whooole lives! You're bound to get very close to someone like that and even develop feelings for them, like it happened here...I like some of trash traces, like I think he's gonna be an awesome doctor and how he actually looks out for everyone...so, it's not about the looks (although I don't think he's ugly) but everything together makes him an actual and real good person.. But DAMN, that childish behavior and all those things he does to trying being cute!! I don't get them, i'm sorry, but I don't get them! And even though I get getting attracted to Trash, I would never be able to have him as a boyfriend..I would go insane, seriously, with all the childish and them suddenly SUPER serious stuff...I don't get it! About the romantic scenes with CB, I'm not sure I would call them "romantic", but they give the more romantic feeling than the Trash scenes...They're always super cute and really meaningful and you just can see CB's heart being broken E-V-E-R-Y single time, I think that's why they have a much more "intimate" feeling to them than Trash's scenes. Totally off-record, DAMN, Yoon Jin is cute!! I wish I would look that good with those lipsticks XDDD

Sorry for cutting your post dear. On the point of Trash being popular because he's realistic, I can say that the other cast members were as (if not more) realistic though.

Sorry I cut your post too...Trash has other good qualities. As a doctor, he connects well with patients esp kids (that's a hint that he might have bonded with Sook sookie when he was young), and he has an older brother feel, taking care and indulging in his dongsaengdeul but personally, I don't see him as bf/hubby material.
This is a bit off-topic. Amanda Seyfried, who visited SK in the first week of December and was interviewed on MBC's Section TV, picked Yoo Yeon Suk as her ideal type based on looks. Eric Nam, the reporter, held a picture of 4 SK popular actors and asked Amanda who resembles her ideal type the most. The four actors on the picture were Song Joong Ki, Yoo Yeon Suk, and ZE:A boy-bandmates Lim Si Wan and Park Hyungsik. (You might ask why only these four actors. The four reportedly picked Amanda as their ideal type in previous interviews and now they posed the same question to her.)

Here are related articles from soompi and allkpop

Are we watching the same drama? At one point, I even felt (and I am sorry for the word for NJ fans) disgusted seeing her trying to pull Sseuregi to sneak into her room. Just no girl, NO. And yes, I don't understand the Trash love either!

What I mean is that the scenes with CB have all felt much more moving and romantic to me than all of her scenes with Trash. Like when they were standing in the snow holdings hands, that made me want to cry! I just feel that overall, the scenes between CB and NJ have been much more moving. Or perhaps it just seems that way because if prefer CB.

On another note, I am looking forward to more Haitai next week <3

*pats you on the back* I know how you feel! Yes, the 'romantic' scenes between NJ and Trash are not so romantic to us, chingu. But they're supposed to count as their romantic moments. And yes more Haitai! I missed him so much!

Oh I should've rephrased that - He's realistic in the sense that guys are fond of him (particularly in Korea) and find him relateable. CB on the other hand holds similarities to William's character in "Tamra the Island". If you've watched that drama, you might understand what I mean in relations to CB's love for Najung - and possibly why I just don't connect.

At the end of the day it all comes to personal preferences. I think for me as years went by I came to appreciate and adore guys like Trash, I'm just glad he's a contender in the Husband games.
I recently marathoned this drama and heol, it's a satisfying watch! I love it, the side characters are way more loveaable than Reply 97. My only complain on this drama is the episode length, I think it would've been better with 50 mins. maximum of 1 hr length, I've felt that some scenes felt longer and quite draggy. I'm rooting for Chilbongie and I had a gut feeling that he is the husband. Otherwise, I will be really brokenhearted.. To Writer-Nim: I like you, but please Be firm and I believe you, okay? I hope you'll not influenced by fans or rather fanwars. I also don't agree on the way that the husband will be inclined more on the favor of who has more fanbase. Best Bromance of the year for me goes to Samcheonpo-Haitai.... I just LOVEEE them. :DD

No I'm sorry, haven't gotten around to watching Tamra. Even if I did, I might have a different subjective opinion about it so I think it would be better if you could perhaps shed light on it or describe it from your pov.

I understand Trash is relate-able to guys (I am not surprised) probably even to those who might not be in Korea. Though I quite agree, personal preferences are the bottom of it all. What could be adorable to you is hideous and repulsive to somebody else. And in CB's case, I guess the personal preference of international fans could also differ from one another although generally, there is also a level of appreciation and adoration to his character as Trash is to you.

Also since we're talking about realistic portrayal, I think it doesn't have to be people who are in the running for the Hungband games. I think there's always a Haitai or two in a circle of friends although a Samcheonpo (the one being the ultimate understanding bf) even though a much rarer find, is also real.
I don't get the William--Chilbong connection, and I've seen Tamra. William was a very weak character who had no ambition other than being with the girl; I think Chilbong has other ambitions (like playing baseball) that make him vastly different from William as a character. Plus, one could argue that William had to be nice to her since she saved his life and tried to protect him. Nothing of the sort happened like that between Na Jeong and Chilbong. On a side note, I tire of hearing that Chilbong has no ambition but baseball. Trash shippers, in particular, try to compare occupations in order to say that Trash has his life more "together" or some nonsense. Being a doctor and being a baseball player both take a lot of tenacity, skill, and ambition. Chilbong, as the show has evidenced, has worked especially hard to get where he is; he isn't your typical pick-up game athlete. If fans knew how much training is involved, they wouldn't be saying such things. It isn't wrong to play baseball as a career. Sometimes it's a catalyst for other careers.
I heard that Reply 1997 will make a cameo in the next episode but not all of them though.

Jung Eunji was already spotted together with Jung Woo while filming and Seo In Guk also wore his HS uniform in another update. Haven't seen actual pics of the other R97 cast. I hope for a Hoya cameo in the MT with Binggrae though! :D

Edit: which I realize will not happen since in 97 they would still be in HS :P
