I've admittedly not watched a lot of the dramas that are considered to be 'dark' because I think they're usually kinda cringe. At least based on those that I did watch, which I obviously wouldn't recommend. Not sure if you meant that kinda dark or just dark/heavier dramas in general, I would still consider all o these reccs to be pretty dark and heavy.
From some other countries in case you're curious to check them out ^^
- The Embers (2025, cdrama) - Really solid crime mystery thriller. Very dark, heavy, and well-made.
- Shogun (2024, jdrama) - Dark and gritty historical political drama. Very good
- Ripe Town (2023, cdrama) - Another dark and gritty historical drama but investigation focused.
- Bad Guys (2022, thaidrama) - Remake of the kdrama (didn't watch). Dark, gritty, and interesting.
- Kill My Sins (2025, cdrama) - Historical revenge mystery drama. A bit more idol-esque than the others.
I've not personally seen but I've heard a lot of great things about The Longest Day in Chang'an and Last Samurai Standing, too.
