Back from the Brink  has a simple story plot - a handicapped dragon in search of his missing parts due to an ex betrayal.This simplicity is its strength. 10 mins of the show, BFTB has told us what we need to know about the background context, Yan Hui’s (YH) personality, and how she is interlinked with Tian Yao (TY) in his quest. Straightforward with no filters. (Yes, those cute little loyal genies aren’t filters.) Their meet cute were hilarious and logical - a rare combination in many stories.

A Bittersweet Journey of Growing Up!

It's  funny and really interesting. I also love the fact that it's realistic and shows that in life things may not always turn out the way we want but we have to make it work.
I also love that it's not a typical love triangle drama where two boys fight for one girl. It's much more than that and it's really good.

"Everyone is running towards each other without realizing someone's running behind them too." A comment I found in YT that I would commend because it is exactly how the drama was, which explains or explained why the title is a river runs through it.a

A Gripping Tale of  Friendship. Fate, Power, and Redemption

It's visually stunning with gorgeous costumes and beautiful cinematography. The OST is moving and memorable. The fight scenes are elegant and well executed. But above all else, we have a team of endearing and interesting main characters we can root for to overcome all obstacles thrown their way.

An Interesting Story That Lost Its Direction

This drama had a lot of potential and started off strong, but poor writing and inconsistent character development held it back. Chen Zhe Yuan’s performance as Xiao Wudi was the biggest strength and the main reason to continue watching. It was enjoyable in parts, but not memorable enough to revisit.
