Fantasy K-dramas dumps!

Welcome to the dumps of fantasy K-dramas!

I created this list to keep track of the stuff that I've watched. I might not be able to explain my ratings sometimes because I gave them after watching, and most of the dramas were finished years ago. This list is specifically for fantasy dramas; if you're looking for other genres, please check my other lists. Oh! And some are sci-fi too, but I feel like sci-fi is a form of fantasy because it's created from our fantasies. Those without any comments were because I couldn't remember the plot.

Note: My comments/reviews are usually biased; I would rate it according to my liking. You might not find stuff I wrote reasonable or rational because it's mostly emotionally based. You are welcome to use them as a guide, and please be aware that some comments contain a tiny amount of spoilers.

  • Light Shop

    1. Light Shop

    Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes

    10

    COMPLETED

At the first 4 episodes, I thought it would just be another ghost drama with some serial killer plot going on; I was about to just drop it right there because it was already halfway and nothing was revealed. I'm glad I didn't because if I did, I wouldn't have watched such a masterpiece as this, and I wouldn't have realized its worth and what the storytelling wants to convey. The storytelling is nuanced, and it's beautiful just how it is. We get to see how each character's story unfolds; every soul has their backstory. The plot really isn't for the weak; there was a complex mix of sorrow, pain, misunderstandings, shame, fear, and love, all in one. The plot twist brought tears to my eyes; it was incredibly beautiful. It's truly so beautiful. I haven't watched anything that would make me cry this hard for so long. I haven't cried for the past 40 dramas I watched, and this is the first drama that made me cry so devastatingly. I wish more people got to feel these emotions as much as I do. I discovered this drama by accident, and I really want more people to watch it. If you started watching it and find the first few episodes not captivating, please hang in there; once everything is unfolded, you'll be just like me. This drama is indeed a masterpiece!

  • Death's Game

    2. Death's Game

    Korean Drama - 2023, 4 episodes

    10

    COMPLETED

I saw both parts, and this drama was so good; it was so funny, and the emotion just kept escalating. It's the first time that I feel like 10 episodes are too short for a drama; I usually watch K-dramas with this length of episodes because I feel like it's the perfect length. Death's Game made me realize a lot about my life and its value. I used to be the type of person who never understood the purpose of life, especially when it felt like we were just suffering. I used to think so shallowly and even had suicidal thoughts. Now looking back, I feel like I was nothing but a selfish person who held regard for my own feelings by disregarding those who loved me. I use this drama mostly for reflection lol, and it really works. This is one good drama, and no one should miss it; it deserves all the recognition.

  • Lovely Runner

    3. Lovely Runner

    Korean Drama - 2024, 16 episodes

    10

    COMPLETED

I will forever be in love with the OST in this drama, and I bet many people feel the same. This drama will also forever be the most iconic time travel drama ever; it blends so well. The storytelling, plot, setting, acting, and songs—everything comes as a package. This production is just too perfect; they did an impressive job in making the classics so special. The plot follows the classic storyline found in many other dramas, yet they managed to make it feel unique, though I am unsure how or why. To be able to achieve this level of perfection is so rare, because with a tiny mistake, the classic thing would turn immediately to cliche or be called a worn-out plot, and it might backfire. I recommend this drama to everyone who loves classic storytelling, romance, and fantasy. The plot twist was also adorable; I can guarantee that you won't regret a single second spent on this drama.

  • The Universe’s Star

    4. The Universe’s Star

    Korean Drama - 2017, 21 episodes

    10

    COMPLETED

The piece was excellent; I cried a lot for it. It's very underrated; I hope more people discover this. I jumped into it unknowingly; I was too into fantasy drama, so I dived deeper and found this piece and a bunch of its series. Now that I'm writing this, I want to rewatch it again.

  • Hotel del Luna

    5. Hotel del Luna

    Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes

    10

    COMPLETED

Tbh, I always knew IU was a great singer, but no one ever told me that she was also a brilliant actress. She portrayed Man-wol so well that I forgot for a minute that she is a professional singer. This drama was what got me hooked on the fantasy genre; it's a masterpiece, I would say. Don't miss out on this; it really is a must-watch!

  • About Time

    6. About Time

    Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes

    9.5

    COMPLETED

I can still remember myself crying so hard watching this. It taught me a lot; just like its title, it taught me about the precious worth of time. This drama is the first thing I would recommend to people if they asked me what fantasy dramas to watch. If you missed this, you'll definitely regret it!

  • Strong Girl Bong Soon

    7. Strong Girl Bong Soon

    Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes

    10

    COMPLETED

I guess this drama was the talk of the town 4-5 years ago, and I get why. It's like a combo of romance, fantasy, and comedy altogether. This drama blends the different tastes together so well; I had a laugh and a satisfying cry from it. I bet no one wants to miss this!

  • Bring It On, Ghost

    8. Bring It On, Ghost

    Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes

    10

    COMPLETED

The show got me hooked! It was funny and romantic at the same time. It was so enjoyable to watch that you'll never skip a single second. There were no boring episodes. I don't remember much about it, but I can remember myself laughing and crying for this drama.

  • Oh My Ghost

    9. Oh My Ghost

    Korean Drama - 2015, 16 episodes

    7.0

    COMPLETED

Personally, I feel that this is kinda overrated. It was good but wasn't the addictive type. I forgot why I rated it 7, but I watched this years ago, so I can't explain it. Oh! But I remember laughing to it too, lol.

  • Queen of the Ring

    10. Queen of the Ring

    Korean Drama - 2017, 21 episodes

    8.5

    COMPLETED

This is in the same series as 'The Universe's Star'. I rewatched this short drama 3 times if I don't remember it wrong. It only has 6 episodes and was so addicting. I don't understand why the shows in this series aren't popular; they deserve more recognition.

  • Frozen Love

    11. Frozen Love

    Korean Special - 2017, 2 episodes

    8.0

    COMPLETED

This was a good, nostalgic sci-fi drama. The plot was guessable, not really new, but the acting improved it. The vibe was so nostalgic; it's warm and moved at an appropriate pace. I only remember fragments of the drama, so I can't really say much, but this is definitely worth a try.

  • Guardian: The Lonely and Great God

    12. Guardian: The Lonely and Great God

    Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes

    10

    COMPLETED

I rewatched this twice, and I loved it. Goblin is so popular and still has the most recommendations from the K-drama fans. The storyline flows at the right pace, and the actors just make everything so much better. I guess no one will ever miss this because you must be living under a rock if you haven't heard of it.

  • Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo

    13. Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo

    Korean Drama - 2016, 20 episodes

    7.5

    COMPLETED

If people saw my review on this piece, all they would say is "wtf?" So here's the thing, hear me out! Time traveling has always been my thing, and IU did so well in this drama; nothing went wrong, but I guess the storyline was too messy for me. I didn't like the way the plot went; it just wasn't my cup of tea. I skipped a lot because there were boring scenes for me; I can remember only wanting to end this already. I saw it being recommended everywhere but couldn't find myself rewatching it properly again.

  • Somehow 18

    14. Somehow 18

    Korean Drama - 2017, 10 episodes

    8.0

    COMPLETED

Time traveling is my favorite genre, and this drama did it so well. I only remember some of the plot, but I can remember that this drama was so good. I gave it an 8 because compared to the other dramas with the same genre, it was still considered to be so-so. The plot didn't stand out that much, but the acting was excellent. It was funny and sad at the same time, although it wasn't as comparable to others, but this was worth a try!

  • My Holo Love

    15. My Holo Love

    Korean Drama - 2020, 12 episodes

    7.5

    COMPLETED

This was actually pretty good, although it could be improved. I quite like the pace; it wasn't a slow-paced one like most K-dramas. It was also only 12 episodes, perfect for binge-watching. At that time, 12-episode dramas were quite rare, as most K-dramas consisted of 16 episodes. The sci-fi part was also done pretty well; the acting was impressive. Overall, it's worth binging, especially if you want something to watch for the holiday or something.

  • Rooftop Prince

    16. Rooftop Prince

    Korean Drama - 2012, 20 episodes

    7.0

    COMPLETED

I watched this during my time-traveling maniac episode, lol. I loved the time-travel trope so much that I started watching every time-travel drama out there. This drama was one of the decent ones; it was funny too. The humor was done well. I love that it was kinda new that the male lead time traveled to the future and not just the female lead traveling to the past. We had many instances of time travel to the past, but this one was different. The downside is that I felt like the main leads weren't really the brainy ones; it's annoying to see them so dumb as to not solve the obvious. Overall, it's worth a try, but I'd recommend you watch with caution.

  • Nightmare Teacher

    17. Nightmare Teacher

    Korean Drama - 2016, 12 episodes

    10

    COMPLETED

It's been so many years, and I still haven't found this kind of drama again. It was so short that it hurts; I would want it to be longer. I watched this drama all in one go and loved it a lot. I usually find this genre in Thai dramas or movies, but when it's from South Korea, it creates something new in me. The plot was excellent; the suspense got me going from one episode to another without realizing that I was already in the last episode. I was so sad when it was ending; not many dramas have the ability to do this to me. Everything was set out so well, although with an open ending. I'd recommend this to whoever loves suspense and high school horror drama; it would fit perfectly to your preference.

  • A Korean Odyssey

    18. A Korean Odyssey

    Korean Drama - 2017, 20 episodes

    10

    COMPLETED

This is one of the early fantasy dramas that I watched. I can't find anything that could replace this drama just yet. It's been years, and I'm still sadly waiting for the second season that we were robbed from. This drama was funny and interesting at the same time. The plot, I'd say, is the legendary one; until today, nothing could ever replace it for me. I tried to find a drama that carries the same vibe but still couldn't all these years. This one really was unique; it's a full-scale fantasy out there. I first watched it because I wanted to know how Korea would interpret Wukong, and I'd love to say that it has exceeded my expectations.

  • The King: Eternal Monarch

    19. The King: Eternal Monarch

    Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes

    10

    COMPLETED

Many people failed to understand this whole drama, but it somehow appeared to be a masterpiece to me. At that time, the concept of parallel universes was not widely discussed, especially in the context of a drama. I really was about to skip watching it when I read reviews on pages; at that time, only a few episodes were released. I remember waiting for it to be fully released before watching it but still hesitated since most people said they couldn't understand the drama. I'm glad I watched it anyway out of curiosity, and it appeared to be an excellent production. Whoever loves the concept of parallel universes shouldn't miss out on this one. It might be a bit hard to comprehend, but once you do, you'll love it as much as I do.

  • Mystic Pop-Up Bar

    20. Mystic Pop-Up Bar

    Korean Drama - 2020, 12 episodes

    9.0

    COMPLETED

I really love K-dramas with this vibe—funny but also sad because each character has their backstory, and it's never a happy one when one ends up being a ghost. The characters are so human that even though they made mistakes, we still understand that they're just normal human beings and why they made them. I thought it was just another love story between a ghost and a human or just a love story of ghosts, but it's beyond that. This drama carries pain and love as they walk hand in hand together. Thanks to all who made this drama happen; I never thought it would be so deep, touching, and heartwarming.

  • Couple on the Backtrack

    21. Couple on the Backtrack

    Korean Drama - 2017, 12 episodes

    10

    COMPLETED

A hidden gem indeed! I rewatched this drama 3 times and even watched it once with my mom. I feel like this represents married life so well. It made me realize that your partner will never be perfect, and you won't either. There will be times when things don't work out between a couple, and it will be okay if you calm down and talk nicely to each other. I realized that we usually try to impress others and care about other people, but occasionally we hurt those closest to us. There are times that love will be tricky; you know making that choice would make you regret it in the future, but if you had to choose it all over again, you would still do it the exact same way. This drama teaches us valuable lessons that we often overlook in daily life. Just as we often overlook the love we receive, everything seems special when it's new, but over time, those special things may lose their significance. It's not that the love lessened, but it's just that you got used to it. When I realized this, it changed my perspective a lot. This drama is highly recommended and very suitable if you're looking for something real.

  • Reunited Worlds

    22. Reunited Worlds

    Korean Drama - 2017, 40 episodes

    6.0

    COMPLETED

This drama was quite boring, ngl. I skipped most of the parts; I couldn't find anything that hooked me. The female lead's hairstyle disturbed me so much that I was about to drop. The plot was actually pretty good, but everything else was barely a pass for me. I couldn't wait for it to end despite it being just the same length as any other drama (it's 40 episodes but only 35 mins each). Even with that many episodes, it felt plain, with nothing going on, nothing memorable, just straight-up plain. This drama was lighthearted; however, it's not my style. You might not have to take my comment seriously. It's just my personal preference.

  • Tale of the Nine-Tailed

    23. Tale of the Nine-Tailed

    Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes

    10

    COMPLETED

One of the iconic fantasy-themed dramas is here! You will see this drama being recommended everywhere here and there. It really is that excellent; they even have spin-offs for it years later. The love story was executed so well, as well as the humour. There were also heart-wrenching scenes. When it's funny, it's to the point that I laughed rolling, and when it's sad, it's to the point that I cried screaming. It is indeed brilliant storytelling. The plot was addicting; I couldn't skip even a second. I want to make use of every episode because it's too good. I really was attached to the characters in the drama without realising. The bond between the characters is so pure. I still can't move on from this drama, even after a few years. I'm glad I decided to watch it.

  • Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938

    24. Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938

    Korean Drama - 2023, 12 episodes

    10

    COMPLETED

This short drama is a spin-off from the drama of the same name, just without the year. Most dramas would flop when there's a spin-off or a second season, but this didn't. They really kept their standard up high. Just like its original version, we still get the same amount of sentiment, bond, laughter, and tears. I don't know if there are people who dislike this spin-off, but personally, I found it to be perfect. They focused more on the brother bond rather than the love story of the main leads, and that's what I really love about it. It's not that I dislike the romance in the main story; it's just that I prefer that they talk more about the family bond and the love-hate relationship of the brothers.

    Korean Movie - 2017

    6.0

    COMPLETED

I recently finished this. It wasn't that good, tbh, despite it being my usual favorite genre. It's basically an unnecessarily long storyline for an abduction case. The plot wasn't that great; it's like they're trying to make some scenes funny, but instead I became a flop. The feelings are portrayed well enough, but it wasn't to the point that we could feel the character's suffering and sadness.

  • S Line

    52. S Line

    Korean Drama - 2025, 6 episodes

    6.5

    COMPLETED

It started off with so much potential but went downhill midway. The plot was all over the place, although the plot twist was good. I still have no idea about the origin of the S Line, and why should it be the female lead who was born with the ability to see it? Why was she chosen? It seems that these questions remain unanswered. One thing I want to praise this drama for is that they really brought the dark side of the world to life. The real world really is scary, especially for women or even high school students. Just thinking about what the characters went through really broke my heart. I love that they're spreading awareness about sexual assault, cheating, and molesting, as well as child abuse.

  • Angel's Last Mission: Love

    53. Angel's Last Mission: Love

    Korean Drama - 2019, 32 episodes

    DROPPED

This drama was very boring to me. I have no idea what episode I dropped it on, but I suppose I finished most of the drama. This was actually recommended a lot; however, I can't find a reason to continue it. Fantasy drama usually is my all-time favorite genre, but this one just never got me hooked. I only remember pieces of what I watched, and from my memory, I dropped it twice already before this.

    8.0

    COMPLETED

It was beautifully written; everything just falls perfectly together like puzzle pieces. I love how they integrated religion so well into this drama, seeing the contrast of characters. Every element complements each other so well; I haven't watched K-dramas in months, and moreover, this was released years ago but is still as good as the new ones. Fantasy themes have always been my cup of tea, and this one didn't disappoint me at all. I started watching for Song Kang but really stayed for the plot. This is one great fantasy drama you should really try; it really has different flavours in life: hate, love, greed, guilt, etc. It's just that there were some boring episodes; compared to other fantasy themes, this one still lacks a lot, but it was time-worthy.

  • Oh My Ghost Clients

    57. Oh My Ghost Clients

    Korean Drama - 2025, 10 episodes

    9.0

    COMPLETED

This was one excellent supernatural drama involving ghosts, although it could have been slightly better. I love the part where he really changed from being a selfish dude who cares only for himself to a guy who would take action on things for justice without having money involved. The character development was a huge thing in this whole drama, but I think it is also the whole point. The drama itself also touches on very important social issues, especially the labor law. It made me reflect on where I came from and realize that it is true that the labor laws in many developing countries aren't executed well enough, and it has caused a lot of harm throughout these years. This drama really did serve its purpose, and I love that part about it the most; every case, I believe, was also inspired by real news at some point. I just kinda find the last 2 episodes to be quite boring, although they're enjoyable, but compared to other episodes, they're less enjoyable. It could've been more interesting if there was a connection between the main lead and the "god" guy as well as his backstory; I really would want to know. Overall, this drama was worth a try, with only 10 episodes.

This drama can be considered one of the earliest K-dramas that I watched. I rewatched this drama three times, even though I had not yet realized that time travel is my favorite trope. This drama was the one that introduced me to fantasy K-dramas and kept me in that genre for so long. As you may have noticed, I watched mostly the fantasy genre. Istg, this drama is so underrated. Why haven't more people discovered it yet? It's so good—one of the best time travel dramas out there. It'll never get old no matter how long it has been since the release. Don't miss out on this; this is a must-watch!

    COMPLETED

Tbh, I was quite disappointed when actually watching it. The drama has great potential with a good premise. It depicts the lives of young people in Korean society these days so well regarding the housing price, the responsibilities, marriage, and relationships; it's all accurate. The shortcoming of this drama is how the plot was written. It seems as if the author or screenwriter is lazy. The dilemma of choosing between being a hero and having money didn't make sense, especially since he could have called the police or taken other actions. Many things in the drama just pissed me off, lol. It's like they're trying to make it work, but it didn't. I hope it's just me who feels this way; you can always give it a try.

  • Heavenly Ever After

    64. Heavenly Ever After

    Korean Drama - 2025, 12 episodes

    10

    COMPLETED

The whole drama is very human; you can feel every emotion the characters feel. This drama made me go insane; one minute I was laughing, and then I started crying the next. It really is a laughter-raiser and a tearjerker at the same time. In this drama, I get to see another side of life that I wouldn't have imagined. The fantasy aspect was created and displayed so well. I saw many reviews disliking this drama after episode 4, but for me, I feel like the plot was well made and the acting enhanced it. This drama truly took me on an emotional journey. This really isn't for the weak; you need a lot of thinking and sympathy to sympathize with the character and understand their action. The storyline really seemed to be dragged out, but I disagree that it's boring, at least not for me.  It really illustrates "what goes around comes around" and applies it so well in the drama. Everyone is connected to each other somehow, whether it's karma or fate; we will always find our way back to each other. I cried literally every episode; I cried buckets, I screamed, and I sobbed. The plot twist keeps on twisting, and I cried in each and every one. Watch this if you want a good cry and a walk through life and death; this drama really did the wrap-up so well.
