Top Ten Favorite Series from South Korea: Fantasy Based
It was very hard for me to limit my favorite series in this list to 10. Because if this, I decided to separate this list into two sections.
- Reality Based – Series that have no supernatural, paranormal, and/or horror elements in the storyline.
- Fantasy Based – Series that have a supernatural, paranormal, and/or horror elements in the storyline.
This ranking is to express my own opinions.

1. All of Us Are Dead
Korean Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
If you love the zombie genre, you should watch this series. It had a solid story concept and great script. They managed to cover a lot of ground in only 12 episodes. There are also a lot of twists and turns that keep you guessing, but still manage not to confuse you. The entire cast was incredible. This also did an outstanding job with the cinematograph. According to Netflix, there will be a second season. I’m just a little nervous about the script quality considering it’s been almost 3 years since the first season.

2. Kingdom
Korean Drama - 2019, 6 episodes
I’m including Season 2 and the side story (Ashin of the North) with this to make room for other series. Overall, this was an amazing series with a solid script. The entire cast did an incredible job with their roles. They also did an outstanding job with the action scenes, cinematography, special effects, and FX make-up. Unfortunately, the second season and the side story ended with a few cliff hangers and loose ends. According to my research, the side story was originally meant to bridge the gap between the second season and a third season that did not happen.

5. Bring It On, Ghost
Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes
This was another good series with an incredible cast. Although it had some weak sections, the script was still interesting. They also did an outstanding job with the cinematography, special effects, and FX make-up. As much as I enjoyed this series, I like the Thai version “Let’s Fight Ghost” more.

6. Reborn Rich
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
This was a very interesting series. The script was wonderful and had so many incredible twists to the story. One minor critique is there is some continuity problems with the different age gap between the two characters, Jin Do Joon and Yoon Hyun Woo. The cast was outstanding and the cinematography/special effects were awesome.

7. Hotel del Luna
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
This was a great series. However, it does have a sad ending. This had an incredibly beautiful story, well written script, wonderful cinematography, and great acting. My only complaint was the last scene before the ending credits really didn’t make much sense to me.
