Top 10 Favorite Japanese Series

This was such a heartwarming and funny series. The script was excellent because it had just the right amount of comedy, drama, and quirkiness. I love the cast and how they portrayed their characters. The friendship between the main characters was great. See my full review HERE for more details.

I’m including Season 2 and Season 3 with this to make room for other series. Overall, this was an outstanding series. The script was simplistic, but wonderful. It had the right mixture of comedy, drama, and quirkiness. However, there were some aspects that did not age well in season 1 and 2. Although the third season was good, the script was missing some of the quirkiness from the previous seasons. The entire cast did an amazing job bring these quirky characters to life. I also enjoyed the little food segments at the end of each episode. The opening credits’ theme song is hauntingly beautiful. There are two movies (Midnight Diner; Midnight Diner 2) and a continuation series (Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories) which has two seasons. The continuation series was good, but didn’t have the same charm the original series had.

This was an incredibly cute and funny series. It had a very well planned out script with a lot of heartwarming sections. This was also very endearing and addressed many important issues with grace. This was a great series with a very interesting storyline. I usually don’t like time travel storylines, but the script was very well written and had a great cast. The English subtitles are good, but did not translate some of the written items shown. 

This impactful series is based on true events of the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster. Everything in this was done with great respect. The decisions on lighting, audio, and pacing help create the eerie atmosphere. The entire cast did an incredible job with their characters. This also and Incredible cinematography and special effects. The ending credit music is beautifully heartbreaking.

This was a very interesting and heartwarming series. The script was very well written and successfully connected the various characters/storylines into the main story. This had an awesome ending.
