The Wu Series Controversy (Just My Random 2 Cents)
This is just my personal opinions about the controversy surrounding this series. This is not a debate on wither this is queerbaiting. As for me, this was queerbaiting. You have every right to thing it’s not. However, I will not engage in a comment war with those that will try to change my mind. That would just be as pointless as me trying to change your mind that it is. Let’s just agree to disagree and move on.
Here is some background information before I go into my opinions:
I was not impressed when I watched the teaser trailer and placed in on my “Not Interested” list.
After watching the official trailer, I was intrigued and moved it to my “Undecided” list. As with many of their series, the story concept often drastically changes between the release of the teaser trailer and official trailer. Sometimes for the best, but other times for the worst. In this case, it was for the best. The official trailer gave me a clearer picture of what the series was.
I notice it pop up on GagaOOLala and was confused. I was not sure why it would be on this streaming service. Personally, I did not get any bromance, gay, or BL hint/vibe from the official trailer. However, I didn’t think much about it because GagaOOLala sometimes stretches the term gay very thin on their platform. I simply noted it and moved on.
I’m still undecided about watching this. I’m heavily leaning towards yes because it does look interesting. The reasoning I’m undecided has nothing to wither this is a BL, Bromance, or other. I’m just slightly worried about the quality of the script. I don’t want another “Enigma: Black Stage” experience.

1. Wu
Thai Drama - 2026, 9 episodes
My Opinions:
GMMTV is at fault for planting the seed of this controversy. They showed the teaser trailer between two other bl series. Granted it did not show much, but it definitely gave more of a BL hint/vibe.
GagaOOLala is at fault for increased this controversy. They did not do their homework before they blindly announced it on their streaming service with giving it the gay and BL tag.
GMMTV is fully at fault for giving the series to GagaOOLala because they knew the content of the series did not line up with GagaOOLala’s audience. Again, I think GagaOOLala should have reviewing the series before accepting it. In their defense, they had no reason to think GMMTV would give them a series that is not a BL because all the previous series they received were. GagaOOLala was simply honoring the terms of the contract and announced it like the all the other series they received from GMMTV.
The Contract Theory:
The contract between GMMTV and GagaOOLala probably only states that GMMTV will allow GagaOOLala to stream an X amount of series per year, not which ones it will be given. It probably doesn’t even state the type of series it has to be. It also seems that GMMTV does not give GagaOOLala exclusive rights. Most of the GMMTV series on GagaOOLala are now available on GMMTV’s YouTube channel in the U.S. The only exception is “The Heart Killers” which is probable because it is now available on Viki. At the end of the day, GMMTV is a company that is only worried about making money.

Thai TV Show - 2026, 1 episode
Final Thoughts:
I’m very curious how all of this will affect the relationship between the two companies. GagaOOLala trust with GMMTV has probably tarnished because of this which may lead them to think twice before they renew another contract with GMMTV.
I most likely will watch this and hope they find another streaming platform. I’ll watch it on their YouTube channel if I have to. However, I would prefer to watch it on Viki or Netflix because then I don’t have to deal with the annoying 4-part spilt up of each episode.
