Both leads absolutely nailed their roles, especially the FL. But yeah, as always with movies like this, the romance isn't really fleshed out well. Honestly, I don't even know how to rate it. It could easily be a 6/10 or an 8/10, depending entirely on your mood when you watch it.
The unrealistic part, obviously, is the fact that they end up together. I mean, just imagine being separated with zero contact for about 18 years. Their first reunion was sweet, sure, but after that, they had to get back to their own busy lives. So it doesn't really make sense for them to end up together, especially since the romance wasn't even developed that well. The movie focuses way more on their individual struggles, and then out of nowhere, they're together. Because of that, I just didn't really feel the emotional payoff there.
So yeah, the movie kind of sits right in the middle for me. It really depends on what you're looking to get out of it. But at the very least, it’s a pretty decent one-time watch, so I'd give it a solid 7.8/10.
However, as for the movie itself, if you're looking for a sweet romance, this probably isn't the right pick for you. Both main characters have pretty complex pasts, so the story focuses a lot more on their personal struggles and individual healing. Since it’s a movie with a limited runtime, the romance kind of takes a backseat and doesn't really get fleshed out well. The ending wasn't super satisfying either. Honestly, I think this would have worked way better as a series.
I’d normally rate it a 7/10, but thanks to the gorgeous views and a pretty cute second couple, I’ll bump it up to a 7.5/10. Overall, it's a decent one-time watch.
Anyway, this is a really solid rom-com. Everything is pretty much on-point and it's such an easy, feel-good watch. Solid 8/10!
Ngl, I was a bit disappointed towards the end because the plot got a bit too dramatic and kinda lost that realistic vibe. I really wished they kept it grounded until the very end, but tbh it's not a huge deal. I'm still happy for them because the build-up for the first 3/4 of the show was top tier!! Anyway, definitely highly recommend watching this! The rating honestly deserves to be way higher.
The drama definitely portrays all the characters as flawed, including the main couple. I don't have a problem with that, and honestly, I think it's actually a good thing. That's why I feel like ML being able to do pretty much anything here makes it a bit unrealistic, but oh well, I'll let it slide. The SFL was actually a bit annoying. she was just lucky she resembled the SML ex-wife, which is what caught the SML attention in the first place. Both of them have their flaws, but at least the SML actually tried and put in the effort. Honestly, personality-wise, I think the SML is the best character here. But yeah, since she is so gorgeous and their chemistry is off the charts, I guess we can just give it a pass. I don't know if it's just me, but she seriously looks stunning here. Really hoping to see her in a proper drama next time.
However, I found that outside of the main couple and the second couple, I just couldn't bring myself to care and was actually kinda annoyed by the rest of the characters. I'm not talking about Feng Lin, because her character was literally written to be a villain, but characters like Fei Ting and Lin Mei... their constant stupidity is honestly a crime in itself 😅. Same goes for Lin Mei family, especially her older brother🙄. IMO, they were just lucky to get a happy ending simply because they're related to the main couple. I even think Ling Yi deserved a redemption arc more, though I guess she still deserved got her karma anyway.
