From Taxi Driver to this, Lee Je Hoon shows how good of an actor he really is. Love his acting and his look!!! Now, let's see how good this period drama will be!!!
I think you see things the wrong way around. I am not criticizing the actors or their looks, but for the character…
You are right, that''s why I only compare K-BL. Thai BL or Japanese BL are completely different. Japanese barely kiss, Thai goes very... +18
For the singing, in Korea, the usually take idoles for that reason. But it become more and more difficult for the companies to authorize them to do BL. Some agency even refuse to do BL or even have skin-ships between their idoles. That is the homophobia of Korea. Yet, some idoles do.
Singing is not always necessary, but in a music drama, you expect some real singing. Here, they have chosen an idole who plays piano and sing. But the role of his partner, in the webtoon, is singing. As I said, the made him a trompettiste instead. So why not until the end instead of changing to singer. Or, they could have change the singer by choosing the idole instead. For everything they've changed, that would have been a good choice.
Well, it's not like every BL can fit like the source material. And to have them kiss and have it 'feel real' is…
I think you see things the wrong way around. I am not criticizing the actors or their looks, but for the character they are supposed to be FROM the webtoon. For me, it is just the wrong cast OR the wrong interpretation of the character by the director. Of course, from just the drama, people can enjoy the drama as it is. But why take something from a webtoon and change everything. Is it not then better to have writers do it instead. It's like if the whole Harry Potter series was made in one movie with a cast old enough to be at university and HP was played by an idole. They took unknown children for a reason, they wanted the right cast.
For the kiss, well, Europe or USA don't do much BL movies or TV series and they are much more OPENLY homophobic than Korea because of far right and religious fanatics. Yet, the kisses are more intimate, more realistic. If I kissed my BF like that, he would think I am kissing a friend. And I am French, so kisses are kind of our thing.
And you said "I get that they couldn't push in the whole story within 8 episodes, but that's what you get most of the time when the source material is long and has to be cut short because there aren't enough funds for the drama to get more than 8 episodes." Well, they added a lot and didn't cut what could have. And at the end, you feel so much is missing. Contrary to what you said, it's NOT respecting the author if you re-write a story but dont make the whole thing correctly.
I have 48 K drama on my computer, and watched all of them many time. I can say that some were very good, like To My Star (2021), Unintentional Love Story (2023), Jun and Jun (2023) or Roommates of Poongduck 304 (2022) just to name a few. Not much kissing, but a solid story. The number of episode was ok for the story and the cast was perfect, even with idoles.
Last, for the singing, I was talking about THE LAST song from episode 8 during the concert. It's Ji Ho Geun who's suppose to sing, but it looks to much like lip singing. In Wish You - Your Melody In My Heart (2020) Lee Sang and Kang In Soo sing together, and you can see it.
So my review is compared to other KBL. I don't have to go to other countries to do that, and wouldn't, but you asked for it. That is why I compared countries about the kisses. But if you watched KBL, you can easily see the difference. And I remind you that is a personal review. You may not agree, but at least I'm honest about my opinion and base it on fact, not on personal believe or bias.
Thanks anyway for your point of view. I may disagree, but I still respect it!
Watched it all today. It's like Batman without a cape. Very good, and amazing acting. Having a second season can be good if it's developing the characters. But to be honest, this season is good on it's own. Hopefully it will be as good, like they did for Taxi Driver. But season 2 will be for 2026 if they do it. They first need the script. But very happy by this drama.
Ok, so the last episode showed us how stupid is Krommatha. π Why did he drink so much in the first place? It's not like it was a party (of 2). And talking about his famous boyfriend. I have been drunk before, so even if I drink too much, my brain still knows how to "lie", or at least not tell the truth that I don't want people to know. π I know its only a drama, but things like this are so far from a human reaction that you wonder if those who wrote this know how to drink. π And yes Krommatha is very cute, but he's an adult, so why does he keep acting like a 6 years old ? He only act like an adult when he's having s3x. πππ
βthe closet thing to MaxTulβ .. Youβve got to f be kidding me !! Tell me youβre kidding !!! MaxTul and…
Sorry, it wasn't a respond to you, but to VBLHwa . I agree about your comment. What is shocking to me is that some "fans" can compare two best friends playing couple like MaxTul and be comfortable with it, and other real couple like MosBank, ZeeNew or MileApo. First because even if they say they are a couple, we cannot be sure with all the publicity they get from it. Second, they met just before filming, so the connection was growing during filming. It's always awkward to kiss someone you barely know, gay or not.
I guess that person was a big shipper for MaxTul and wanted them together for real. What is difficult is not about sexuality, or even if they're good looking. It's about the connection between the two people playing their role on screen. It will be difficult in the BL industry to re-create what MaxTul had from start.
MosBank are good, but it was still missing something in Big Dragon. Also, Isbanky is quiet effeminate, a bit far from the character from the novel. That's maybe why I had some difficulties to love the character in the drama. He need to learn to be more "manly" if he wants roles in other non-BL drama. Mos had many rejections before, and I hope they'll get better in their future projects, as single individuals AND as a couple!!!
Mu gosh, do we watch the same drama???Yes, he is in love, but it is his right to love whoever!!Before my twenties,…
"Pluem is straight, been with 20 women already." I never said YOU are homophobic, I said " in a society more and more homophobic". What I am concerned by is that in the real world, gay guys wouldn't even bother trying with a guy a bit manly. We are scared not only of rejection, but also to just get killed, because that the society we live in. If a guy see another guy trying to flirt or is interested, it always turn into violence because "they don't want to be seen with a gay". But in this dram, he tries. He is not scared to get hurt. If he was a girl, she would be like the girl he will start to see as his lover one day. So why it should be different for guys? Why what works for men to women can't work for people of the same sex? That's why I am hurt by your comment! The way he treats his friends is arsh, but we have no idea of their past and how they became friends. We can't judge someone just by few altercations. I have a friend who is very difficult with me. I know who he is, and that he doesn't mean what he says, even if he hurts me sometimes. BUT, we have known each other for ages and he was here when I needed someone the most. He is the first person to be there for me if I have a problem. But many people only sees him talking badly to me. He sometimes forget to cancel our meet and I had waited for him at the beginning. Now, I just don't show until he ask me where I am. I learned how to deal with him, but he took me years. So, for the sake of the drama, don't be too closed off. I can relate to some characters, and many people do. We have sometimes friends that are far from perfect. Yet, we still love them for some weird reason, as long as we feel safe around them, and learn to not be afraid of them either. I hope it clears things up about MY point of view. Of course, you can think differently. I just wanted you to know that sometimes drama and real life can relate to some people.
Really exiting !!!

Sometimes we don't know i it's still the drama or an advert! π

I they didn't advertise it, like The Sign did, it may be difficult to know for international viewers.
