That's the main thing that's bothering me about JSM's departure, I prepared myself for the FL switch but I didn't…
Doesn't matter newbie or veteran - it's a lead role - it had to be done properly for whole 20 episodes otherwise this whole show would have been a trainwreck. I'm sure showrunners understood the show would have failed if FL wouldn't have been able to captivate the audience with her performance.

Yea, why bother giving her such an intricate backstory and waste so much plot time on her, and even introducing her "fake" for many episodes, only to kill her off without even introducing her properly as a character to other characters. Later half of the show was all about Bu-Yeon, it even made me question who's real FL now and about whom this story really is about. Started to look like it was a story about the return of the prodigal daughter or smth. Even Naksu weren't given so much time on her character backstory and prior relationships.
Yea, I feel like one of this drama's biggest faults is overhyping characters and plot resolutions - they create this huge buildup, circle around the issue for many episodes, but in the end fail to deliver on the expectations. Yesterday's episode, for example, was the epitomy of this - Jang Kang got his atrocious 5 minutues of fame and croaked, no explanations or goodbyes from him, not even a cool action scene or smth. And shaman villain was exposed completely by coincidence when Dang Gu and Cho Yeon conveniently arrived to the right place at the right time, no amount of prior investigations gave any evidence.
If Jin Bu-Yeon'll die in this episode do you guys think it will be a disservice to her character? We barely get to know her as a person, yet so much time was spent on her backstory and fake version, and now the writers want to get rid of her. Why can't they simply separate both girls into separate bodies? Why ditch such a mysterious and powerful character without even exploring it properly first? I feel they gonna rush and mishandle her just as badly as Jang Kang in the previous episode.
Why would she want to be with Yul? She clearly rejected him in today's episode as Naksu and she loves Uk.
No, it was more than that. She was talking to him as Naksu who's no longer the person he knew from their teenager days. She told him to stop clinging to that memory, because she's not that person anymore. And that promise to go with him was rejected by her. She won't be together with him. But she may have to run away to hide to another place in part 2, since she's wanted. But Uk will find her anyway.
I think the biggest mistake was the burning of Naksu's original body. Did anybody not think from that point that…
Yea, they should have shown og Naksu more in scenes where Mu-Deok thinks or imagines something at least. But they didn't do anything to prepare the audience for this possibility, no, they specifically destroyed her body to show there's no turning back. How did they assume it's gonna be fine to just drop this bomb on the audience who already got attached to Mu-Deok I've no idea. I think they just f*cked up here, personally.
Btw, what about that plot point about Jang Kang searching for Cho Yeong? Failed there as well, I guess? Or was it just a pretence to cowardly run away for 20 years?
I *think* it’s because he had to choose between protecting Do-Hwa’s reputation or absolving /separating Jang…
All the more reason to assume he's Jang Uk's real father. No matter the messed up way, he still tried to protect him. Even to the detriment of the memory of his beloved wife. I'm gonna settle on that if no further confirmation will appear.
There are so many LJW fans here, I wonder how would you have reacted if it was him who's about be replaced after two thirds of the show for some other actor? Would you be just as fine with it as with letting JSM go?
