I've been debating on weather I should watch this show. Is it any good?
There's an annoyingly cliche amnesia trope and one character's real identity mystery is probably gonna be dragged out until the end of the drama. But other than it's great, FL's story and washed up idol's comeback story are interesting to follow.
Some moments of PEB playing Mok Ha character here strongly remind me of Woo Young Woo character. I’m not sure what to think of it, is playing a girl in woman’s body has to look similar to someone on a spectrum? PEB is talented but was she typecast here because of how she played FL in EAW? Or is this her limit?
I really don't like that Mok ha is signing for Ran Joo. How are they going to explain this to the public later…
I'm more worried Ran Joo may turn on her at some point. She seems to have a volatile and fickle personality. But right now Ran Joo needs FL. She's done for without her help.
Bo Geol immediately knew it was a trap and ran to the meeting place where FL was supposed to meet "Ki Ho". Because he is Ki Ho and didn't send her any flowers. Just another clue in his favor. I guess he wants to stay incognito because he doesn't want his father to find him again and cause trouble for his family. Woo Hak seeing the policeman dad is just a big fat herring they keep feeding the audience. He was there when dad was trying to break into the flat, it doesn't look like a delusion like in WWWSK?. The policeman dad likely had found out where Ki Ho lived with his new family and Woo Hak was either home alone, or conveniently only his perspective was shown. He got badly hurt in that incident, but they got rid of the policeman dad somehow, either by fooling him or fleeing someplace else.
Unrealistic storytelling aside (teenagers faces don't become unrecognizable when they become adults, it's just lazy writing), Bo Geol seems to have the same character he did in his teenage years, just even more wary now. His brother is a polar opposite. So that's another clue to Bo Geol being Ki Ho. What's more, Ki Ho served in the navy at some point. Woo Hak has seasickness. Bo Geol went on many trash collecting volunteer jobs on various islands (still looking for FL?). Woo Hak only joined him last time. Bo Geol is very aware his father is still looking for him, he knows everything about Ki Ho situation. Woo Hak conveniently has amnesia and scrambled memories.
But I guess Woo Hak actor's fans just want him to be Ki Ho because they want the actor to be the ML. Not long to wait until they spill the beans who's who though, this drama has only 12 episodes. Personally, I'm not invested in either of them. This drama doesn't look like it will have romance anyway, so who cares. FL basically is a woman with child's mind here, her intellectual growth seems to be stunted. And everyone kinda treats her as such, with a bit of awkwardness. I think it's gonna end with them as best friends at most, making it romantic may make some of the audience feel uneasy.
People used to say: Just because you know where's the goal is, doesn't mean the journey is meaningless. On the…
What do you mean because of her abusive dad? I never said anything about her dad because he's 99% dead, drowned. I was talking about ML's policeman dad who's still looking for him. But why would that threaten FL in any way? Or are you saying he's hiding his identity from her because he's still afraid of his dad even in his adult life? That his dad will find him through her? Which is already clear that he will. Thing is, everyone's an adult now and his dad (if he's not psycho crazy) can't bring any more trouble to ML's family now than mere annoyance remedied by restraining order at most. If he's a psycho who wants to, I dunno, kill his son and ex-wife then it's jail time for him, but it didn't look like he's so far gone so far.
So, is this gonna be the overall plot? I'm already seeing how it will gonna go. FL will do backstage singing for Ran Joo to try to help her sell albums. Then of course the villainous CEO will eventually expose them. The girls will get vilified, but then the brothers will release their sappy sad stories and they'll get sympathy from the public and album sales will skyrocket. Ran Joo will retire to become entertainment agency CEO, FL will get her audition and a chance to be a singer. The only thing I'm unsure of if whether that's her longtime dream and whether there'll be any romance since all its tags were removed.
Couldn't care less about Ki Ho's identity (though it's clear it's Bo Geol), dunno why it's a more popular discussion topic than the rest of the drama. Clearly it was put in for angst, added mystery sub-plot and potential future trouble from his dad. Why would a normal guy hide his identity from FL like that is beyond me, especially seeing how she still sorely misses him and wants to find him. But I'm sure we'll hear some cliche explanations that he thought he had let her down and doesn't want to face her because of that or something.
I had a very strange feeling that the writer kinda taunted us when Ran Joon trampled on the fake glasses of the…
You can start preparing already. Woo Hak is just a empathetic confused amnesiac, but Ki-Ho is his brother. Too many clues pointing to this if you're paying attention.
I think it probably goes one of two ways, either the dad is obsessed with the mom/son and is pursuing as a villain,…
If they gonna do the pity party for Ki-Ho's dad I'll be disappointed. People like him deserve no forgiveness. I can very well understand abused children cutting all ties with abusive alcoholic parents. It leaves a deep trauma and very bad memories, which cannot be erased by simple apologies and pretending to be a changed person.
So what Ki-Ho's father is up to? Ki-ho is an adult now, if his father tries to raise a hand on him again he'll just get beaten and/or reported to the police again. I doubt it's money either. Is he gonna try finding his runaway wife through him? Again, Ki-Ho will just beat the shit out of him and get a restraining order. Either way he'll either end up in jail, or, if he's sane enough, alone with no family. The real villain is R&J CEO who wants to block Ran Joo from releasing 20 million album copies and getting half his company's shares. And he looked such a nice guy in the past.
The king is the only character that I like here, he's hilarious. He's so down to earth and to the point. His actor also frequently plays butt of all jokes characters be it good or evil, so he's good.
rowoon’s acting here is kinda cringe. what’s going on?
It is cringe. But the main problem this saeguk has barely anything going on in it plotwise. So actors have to spice up things however they can with their acting. Matchmakers uniting to wed some spinsters so that sickly king's son can marry? Joseon's 1st world's problems. Hard to relate. Also, ML getting horny reading those timid book series is just double cringe. There were plenty of brothels and entertainment houses in Joseon era which he could have frequented whenever he wanted like many other married men at the time. The guy's just a prune. Him being a huge narcissist doesn't help either. Saeguk writers are running out of ideas lately. None of the latest ones are a hit.
Since everyone is talking about who is KH. There's one clue I don't see everyone mentioning. In ep 1 when they're…
Good catch, going to the Navy for obligatory military service really fits. And also it was Bo Geol who regularly went to various islands for trash collecting volunteering, likely with tiny hope of finding FL, his brother just tagged along last time. Ki Ho is definitely Bo Geol .
