They really ruined the what so little progress we had between brother in law and ML's sis. Guy got jealous of ML and acted like an asshole also the fact he may have a hand in the weapons malfunctioning. He is doomed.

Well the chemistry part is before things went to shit, both of them looked really good together. All the tender moments and flirting ( by ML only so far) hell even him dreaming of her in bathtub was quite sensual. As for assault I don't romanticize it, that's why I said there is no redemption arc for that behavior. As for 8 rating every once in a while I do enjoy watching some toxic love story not always eg: Overdo was total shit.

Funny how there are dumb morons in this page actually defending ML and calling out FL for breaking his heart and leaving him. That guy literally sexually assaulted her time and again knowing she has a fiance, forced her to be by his side and break off any contact with her fiance, kept her captive in his villa. Yes he helped her mother but does that really justify all the shit he put her through.

Just imagine if it wasn't some good looking hunk but some middle aged obese pig who did the same thing to a woman. Would you still defend or romanticize it.

He is a great soldier, leader, son, friend but when it comes to loving a woman, he is one horrendous shit. I am sure the drama will show his character growth and how he will learn to understand what loving someone means.

First and foremost there is a big difference between a guy who had tried to blackmail and pretty force her to be with him plus sexually assaulted her many times and a cheating fiance.

On one occasion she stabbed him to save herself from the monster who held her captive while on other she is dealing with her trust being broken. One can be angry that she didn't break things off with XT permanently but I don't see why a slap was necessary. When she does reject him later on permanently, that would be a much effective hit to him than some slap.

Him as villain would be the most predictable plot twist they will show.

I think it is also about what sells. These type of republican dramas with toxic love story is a trope that is really popular in China. Even garbage like Overdo was such a huge success despite bad storyline, poor editing and idiotic characters.

I even said in my review these dramas don't sell cuz of their storylines but more over the chemistry between leads even if it isn't romantic but pure toxicity.

Don't see anything wrong with it. An actor should go for a variety of roles, even darker and psyhotic at times, helps them showcase their acting range.

So Lan Qing will try to get rid of Ping Jun and Chang Xuan will get shot in the process of saving her. I am pretty sure he ain't dying even though for all the shit he put her through the only way to redeem himself a little was die protecting her.

This cuck male lead deserves his misery and should live and die in it. You have a girl who is a total ride or die and yet keeps going back to the one who broke his trust and straight up told him to his face she has started to grow feelings for another man.

I am not even surprised this garbage was written by a female writer.

I am intrigued to see how they do the fire arc as it came way later in the novel.
They really need to give more screentime to ML's brother in law and sis. I want to see how that pans out.

If they do turn his character like in the novel then yeah he will be a full blown manipulative psycho. Guy was obsessed with FL, held her captive and also r@ped her.

All of this shit could have been avoided had Xue Ting not crossed the lines and simply did his job, then again for a guy like ML he probably would have filed false charges anyway to deal with him.
