The funniest shit ever is that so many people who immediately hopped into the unreasonable bandwagon hate for the female character the moment they tapped that play button on the trailer are now starting to like her but it hurts their fragile ego to admit to the fact that their unconscious mind DARE find such a character likable, so they keep beating around the bush and say EVERYTHING and anything but the fact that they LIKE her lmao (like "I don't like her x but she was kinda adorable here", "I hate her x and y but she looks so pretty here" "I hate this and that but her acting is so good" ....). these are the ppl who would bully you in kindergarten for liking the color pink and in high school for listening to kpop ggs with cute concepts 😹 pick me energy overflow

It's very eh to me as well but I think the designers went more for a Moroccan architecture rather than MENA and it looks more like ignorance and lack of research than bad intentions to me...It's still bad but at least not as bad as internationally mocking our religion and culture.

I haven't read the novel but ppl who did were saying that part doesn't exist in the novel...The story here is taking a very different direction from the novel

We just laugh things off and treat it like a fairytale but please know that there's no such a thing as "fixing" your partner in a relationship in real life. Women NEVER deserve sympathy when they go through hell but men can be the biggest losers in the world who have done the worst things ever then throw a tragic backstory in there and BOOM everyone forgets about all the awful things he's done 🤦🏻‍♀ I've had this argument with ppl sooo many times about sooo many shows I've lost count (yeah I've gotten in fights with immortal samsara watchers too lol) but the oldest and most classic example of hypocrisy is that people still hate the female character in all Boys over flowers versions bc she rejected and dumped a narcissistic man who abused her mentally and physically and bullied her to the point of her feeling like living in hell everyday, but he was an innocent boo who had mommy issues and didn't deserve to be treated by that mean evil girl like that he didn't do anything wrong he just abused her a lil but lol

It's bc the production team for CLJ actually put effort in it and had passion, it shows when you notice how polished and artistic the visuals turned out (It's not just a budget show off, everything actually looks artistically beautiful) and also, many people who had a really bad impression on the actors are surprised by how good they're doing here. These all show that ppl who produced and participated in this actually cared about the final product being satisfying to at least some extent while the entire budget for IS went into promoting it since the day they announced the cast bc they just want money lol. Everything besides YZ and CY being funny tgt on IS is snooze fest and skip material...Huanrui ent produced shows are usually like that thank god yz left that hell of a company

I promise you cntez are detectives themselves, everything that is copied and plagiarized gets discovered by them IMMEDIATELY. It has happened LOTS of times, Louyang last year had people finding out one of the choreographies and a city design was plagiarized and they went crazy over it, they found out Song of youth's entire script and dialogues were copied from a famous literature piece with no credit and they boycotted the drama because of that. There's no way a drama THIS popular straight up COPIES music from another insanely popular drama and no one finds out about it. I can't listen and compare unfortunately but as a musician, I'm telling you, so many historical cdramas use either sampled score music or the pieces are just similar in chord progression.

I wrote this as a reply to someone below but I feel the urge to leave a comment as well so on today's episode of deep takes by moonrise lmao: I find something in this drama really beautiful. Orchid is said to have the ability to "purify evil spirit" and she actually does have that power, but besides from that, it's a word play and metaphor on her changing people by her kindness and burst of pure emotions as well. Like, she can probably do that by magic but even without the magic, she is so kind hearted, understanding and human that her kindness to people who even hate or hurt her touches them. She's already done that to Danyin, dfqc and Jieli.

No you're not missing anything, Jieli is very heartless and uncaring about other people and only cares about surviving and making a living as she said because of her bad experiences from when she was a kid (she told Orchid that her being too kind is foolish and that people would use her for that, which probably happened to her when she was younger as well). I think this part and her getting touched by how Orchid put her life in danger to protect her eventhough she did her dirty (which she was aware of) is really interesting because it's indicating that xlh's kindness and pure heart, although gets her in trouble lots of times, can actually change people who have been hurt and hurt others as a psychological responset. her gifted ability to "purify evil spirit" is kind of a symbolic word play on how she can touch people's hearts by her kindness as well.

Oh yes yes yesss I absolutely love how the relationship between them is actually written well and is having a more realistic and BELIEVABLE progress compared to most xianxias with 40+ episodes that have the characters falling in love in episode 2 like??? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO BUY THAT LOL...That's why I have a hard time caring about the couples (unless the actors just have natural chemistry) cause the love lines are written badly lmao. Things actually make sense here and THIS is the right pacing for a drama with 36 episodes. I hope things don't get too draggy later.
Also YES about CH lol...I find the acting hella stiff as well and the character can just be totally omitted from the script and there wouldn't be any change in the story. Idk I like Bai Lu so I might watch Kuning palace and change my opinion on him pretty much like how Wang Hedi changed my impression on him with this one 🤷🏻‍♀

tbh I think your 2nd question might or might never get answers in future episodes but my personal thought about the rest of your questions is that there are plot holes in there lol...There are many plot holes in the drama and xianxias overall tend to have a weak world building in general. I'm just trying to ignore the logic and enjoy whatever that makes sense lmao
