Yeah you're right maybe I shouldn't have dictated ppl on what they should or shouldn't watch, I'm gonna edit that part out. I usually do NOT bother with people having different opinions on stuff at all and am very pro freedom of speech but it's hard to not get mad when you see ppl complain all the time whenever there's any sign of Esther Yu .... It's the prejudice and bias against pure gentle female characters and all that annoys me so much. People demonize this archetype so much even when there's nothing wrong with the character. She isn't dumb here and has not have done anything stupid or noticeably questionable for everyone to hate her this much.

I believe little Orchid will grow into a stronger girl without losing her personality and kindness and proves all the whiney woman haters that a girl like her CAN be strong and special in her own way like Leyan from The long ballad.

THIS is the problem here...Y'all love putting women in a limited number of boxes and label them like if she has this and that characteristic it means she's annoying and if she's like this and that she's strong and cool. Never want to buy the fact that women can have different personalities and still be worthy of us hearing their stories. Also the entire THEME for this drama is based on a bid big bad bad guy and the nicest little girl falling in love, like that's the whole POINT. If she was strong and cool the comic moments wouldn't be there. Also wth do you mean she doesn't have sexual appeal?? Why do you think every woman has to be the same way you want her to be to be considered desirable lol... both YSX and her character here are feminine and beautiful in their own way. ALL women CAN be beautiful and desirable in their own ways, someone wants to be fierce and strong, someone masculine, someone feminine, someone kind and gentle etc...Non of these make them any less worthy of being heard and represented on screen

Little Orchid is kind and that's her specialty. Not every single woman has to swing swords, be a genius or cold and fierce to be cool lol.
plus, saying this again, Yu Shuxin always uses her own voice in dramas bc directors and producers find it good and suitable for the characters she usually plays and that won't change no matter how much you cry about it lmao. She has talent for voice acting too and has actually dubbed cartoon characters as well. This isn't a very serious drama as as y'all know they even made a donghua targetting mostly kids so just stop being bitchy about the female lead

I'm just gonna get it together once forever for people who keep commenting about it: The FL is the PROTAGONIST of the drama, which means the show is mostly about HER and HER journey and she gets the most screentime, that's her personality, that is her IDENTITY and she can't and won't completely change it. Also, that's the actress's actual voice and she WON'T change it throughout this drama minus the body swap parts so if you find her annoying bc she is kind and nice or find her voice squeaky nasal childish screechy blah blah blah, know that it will NOT change, character development yes but a 180 change?? NO! Her personality shapes part of her identity as i said and I don't think it'd be a good for the plot to become someone else

I'm looking forward to the upcoming body swap scenes and her growth as well but what people are expecting is her probably changing her personality completely and turning into a femme fatal or something lmao. You're actually the only one thinking about it in a more logical way like "the problem is the repetitive usage of the trope, not the characters themselves" but most ppl are always hating gentle female characters without any reason just for the sake of hating them lol

I find almost all post 2017 xianxia costumes very basic and dull tbh, even the dramas I've actually liked didn't satisfy me in that part but this one is DEVOURING for me.
I think 90s/early 2000s cdramas had amazing styling and costume design, much better than newer wuxia/xianxias. There are some upcoming xianxia dramas that already look really amazing visually though which means the industry is finally moving on from the basic minimalistic stuff.

The stylist is working on upcoming Wonderland of love, Love you seven times and Fox spirit matchmaker yuehong and I'm very happy about it cause the xianxia costuming field has been in hands of very untalented and uninspiring people and this person (Yi Xiao ya) is seemingly a newbie but really creative and is already working on many big projects. Legend of Shenli's stylist is someone else (Chen Tong Xun, he's been the stylist for The blue whisper, Sword and the brocade, the untamed, upcoming lost you forever etc) and I've not been impressed by any of his previous works but we shall wait and see.

I'm just so freaking exhausted of seeing people hop on the hate bandwagon the moment they see a female character being cute, gentle, soft, kind etc...Like i don't understand why anyone would hate her character here??? She didn't do anything stupid or annoying why'd you hate a lil flower fairy who has a garden and is the most adorable creature to ever exist??? Also so so so freaking done with people btching and moaning about YSX's voice every 2 seconds everytime she's in any drama?? The ones who put their prejudice against her aside actually all end up loving the characters she plays most of the times ... like okay ppl can have opinions but everyone is so biased when it comes to her it annoys me sm...It's also a body swap drama so her characteristics will actually end up making that part really funny. She's also actually got talent in dubbing and voice acting lol. I actually find her voice and her ability to change it to suit the characters she plays really impressive.

Also seems like I'm the only person actually loving those crazy headpieces and all. SO done and tired of the boring characterless costume design that has been taking over xianxia dramas for 5 years now. They look very epic and digital fashion-esque to me also kinda giving irisvanherpen??? Idk I actually think they're interesting and those were definitely crazy hard and time consuming to design and craft. I just like that there's creativity and actual character in the design, I mean it's XIANXIA I personally do need EPIC visuals so 🤷🏻‍♀
