I have just completed it. But what did I just watch? To be honest, I don’t quite get the story. It’s confusing. What is inner and outer circle? Tear of Void? Black foxes? Is there any summary that can summarize what was going on?
Actually I am finding a lot of their interactions appear to be like that... out of nowhere... without build up.…
I think it’s the directing and editing as well. Yeah hoping from one arc to another arc within one episode definitely doesn’t help either. I hope it’s getting better.
To me, since he is shown as a grown up, he's already very close to her and fond of her, so it's natural and pretty…
To be clear, I didn’t read the novel. I understand what you meant implied. But as an audience, I only see it from what’s shown not implied so I feel it’s abrupt. Like there’s only that one scene in the Human realm where THH wore a mask and took it off and Yuechu’s eyes were suddenly full of love and decided he has fallen in love. Like whaaat?
Yechu’s attraction to THH seems to come out of nowhere to me. He and THH didn’t seem to have a lot of interactions prior to him attracted to her. It would be more convincing, if they spent time build up their relationship and showed them falling in love slowly.
I am shipping Tushan Yaya and A-Lai so hard. A-Lai was impressed by Yaya and seems to find her amusing. Also, that’s idol of Yaya is A-Lai, right? Aoshan something(?).
He had one not so successful costume drama a few years ago. Therefore a lot of people say he is only suitable…
Thanks for the recommendations. I rarely watch modern dramas. I finished watching Meet Yourself yesterday. Another drama marathon. Hahaha. That drama is lighter than this one. Totally loved it. Li Xian’s character is very different in that one. Liu Yi Fei is very beautiful and elegant as Xu Hongdou.
They’re only officially together in episode 31! I need to warn you that this is a slice of life and very slow…
It’s really a great drama. The ML and FL start as friends and slowly fall in love with each other. Their relationship is very mature. No love triangle, no silly misunderstanding. It’s lovey dovey and sweet after they get together.
Just curious, at what Ep do the FL and ML end up together ?
They’re only officially together in episode 31! I need to warn you that this is a slice of life and very slow burn drama. Even though the FL and ML are the main characters, the drama also gives screen times to other characters to show their growth.
Finished watching this drama during the weekend. I started it because I watched Li Xian in Will Love in Spring. It is a slice of life drama, therapeutic and healing. It might be slow pace to some people, but I enjoyed every second of it. It is never boring to me. Every character has very interesting stories. I am glad that each of them found peace and solutions to their problems. Xu Hongdou, I really admire your courage in pursuing your career despite the unknown. In a parallel universe, I believe both you and Xie Zhiyao will be able to resolve any challenges that life might throw at you and emerge as very successful entrepreneurs that contribute to the society of Yunmiao village.
On another note, the shooting locations are very beautiful, I did a research about them, now I am thinking of Yunnan as my next travel destination.
Are there a lot of misunderstandings between the leads or dissproving parents?
I wouldn’t say they are misunderstandings. Their relationship issues are more dealing with traumas, different personalities, and wanting different things. The FL’s mom didn’t approve the relationship at first. She’s just being typical Asian mom thinking no man would deserve her daughter. But it didnt last long, probably less than one episode. She came around fast after being lectured by her two other younger children. She came to adore the ML like her own son.
OMG. This drama is so so so good. Binged watch 21 episodes in less than 24 hours until 2am. This is my first Li Xian’s drama. He is so fine and a good kisser. ZYT’s acting as physically disabled person is so convincing. Do I have to say about the chemistry? It’s burning the screen. Even though, at times I was mad at ZJ for the way she treated CMD but I feel like she and CMD are made for each other. They healed each other’s trauma. Prior to watching this drama, I have watched some WIRED’s videos about mortician. So I can understand ML’s profession in this drama and have so much respect for him.
Also, Grandma Lin and Grandma Chen have the best friendship. Grandma Lin is one of my favourite supporting characters. She’s so so wise. I hope I can have a friendship like what they have when I am old.
This drama gives me something to think about life.
Now, I am going to hunt Li Xian’s other dramas. Does he star only in modern dramas? Does he have any costume drama?
Do you guys know what the purpose of Xing Zhi froze the east sea in episode 24? Did he hope it would be easier for him to locate Shen Li’s body? Or was he just simply angry?
I am rewatching this drama and I noticed that the actor playing Furong Jun has a great acting and very expressive. I find my self enjoying his childish scenes more as compared to first watch. It’s no wonder, he’s one of many people’s favourite characters.
I would like to ask our Chinese friends or someone who speak Chinese. At the beginning XZ was calling her simply…
Shen is her surname and Li is her given name. Chinese given names are usually of two characters but in some cases only one like Shen Li’s. When someone has only one character in her given name, usually it’s prefixed with an “Ah” for ease of speaking it. In Chinese culture, family and close friends usually address you with your given name. That’s why in Shen Li case, her master also addresses her as “Ah Li” because she’s a family. As for the change in XZ’s calling of Shen Li’s name, I believe he feels that he’s close enough with her so he addresses her casually.

Anyone facing similar issue?
