Just finished The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko house, a Japanese series on Netflix (manga adaptation) that totally made me think of this manwha. It's about two teen girls that move to Kyoto to become Maiko (apprentice Geisha). One does well but the other finds her passion by becoming the makanai, a cook for all the girls in the house (but she especially stays for her bff Sumeri because they swore to always be together).
I recommend it to anyone interested in Jeong Nyeon. They have similar themes and vibes imo, it’ssuper cute. The Makanei is about the friendships and regular daily life of the girls, and there's even a very obvious but discreet romantic development between the two main girls. Everyone in the house is basically softly nudging them towards realizing the feelings they have for each other while they are oblivious lol. One of my favorite quotes is when the house mother says "they are like real sisters" and one of the girls says something like "what they have goes beyond a sisterly bond".
A few days ago I saw that the CEO of one of the other production companies followed Kim Taeri. I think that pretty much all but confirms Taeri for the drama (plus management MMM, which is Taeri's managing company, being one of the 3 companies in charge of production).
Also, since this drama will involve some singing I wonder if they'll cast any idols for some of the other main/supporting roles.
Yang Hye Ji will play as KTR’s friend in the Demon. She plays as Baek Semi who is studying the civil exam with…
She was my favorite character in Nevertheless (without her the show was very bland). Remember I mentioned San Young needing someone to have a connection with? I'm sure she'll be a regular if not main character. Otherwise would they not have mentioned her being a guest or support role as they did with the actor playing her dad? She also wouldn’t have gotten a character description imo.
I suspect her character will be the one that grounds Taeri's character. The one that'll keep her human so to speak (maybe we get the whole secret identity thing cause San Young will be afraid to lose her, etc.). Hence the soulmate angle. Unless they fridge her, which I hope they don’t...how would they be soulmates then lol.
I really hope the director and screenwriter keep it female centric (especially since the director’s previous…
It'd be hard to deviate from the webtoon without adding original male characters which would defeat the whole purpose of the original story. Seeing as even with the director & writer they are following the all girls theme we shouldn't lose hope of the adaptation remaining faithful just yet.
sportifywrapped made me visit the 2521 page again, and I somehow ended up in the writer's page in which I am surprised…
I don’t think HeeDo reminiscing about the past her daughter has been reading up on negates the fact she moved on. We all look back fondly at happy times or on people we cared about but that for any number of reasons aren't in our lives anymore. That's what adult HeeDo was doing. She knew her daughter was reading her diaries and it slowly made her start remembering. When she gets back the diary she lost so many years ago is when it hit her the hardest (the last entries being about YiJin since the break up was what she was going through when she lost it).
Imo there was never any hope given that they'd end up together. If anything the writing just made you wonder what makes them break up. I mean, we don’t even spend much episodes on them being a couple.
Coming back because TaeRi is reportedly considering a webtoon adaptation that has a canon GL story. I'm close to getting my wish lol. Just need KDE as the writer and all I commented previously comes true 😆
So how long can we expect to wait for confirmation on whether or not TaeRi accepted the role? How long was it for 2521 or The Demon before it was confirmed?
Hoping Ms. Tae-Ri gives us a proper return to films. Space Sweepers & Alienoid are fun but we need more movies on par w/ the Handmaiden, Little Forest, or 1987.

At the very least we get to see Taeri for 4 more episodes.
That's a very metaphorical quote. Maybe something to do with how/when the demon possessing her is in control. Maybe there's a trigger.
They did it just for me 😆
Trailer looks good but I hope we get English subs (can anyone translate her voice over?).
Only 6 months to go *sigh*

I'm so glad the new casting announcement was a female character that'll be close to Taeri's.
I would hope Netflix too just cause of how accessible and popular it is.

The best thing imo would be to have the webtoon author plus a well known screenwriter.
My choices for writer would be the Mr. Sunshine writer or Kwon Do Eun of Twenty-Five Twenty-One.
