NEED to know what happened during their high school days
That was just Semi's nickname because she liked him, thought he was good looking. Idk but popular kids are crushed on regardless of if they're nice or mean. It's a trope in lots of media so it's possible.
She was a child...a child that had been sent to live w/ her grandma and was very poor. For all we know she may have had low self esteem or whatever and was a fraid to lose her friend to other kids. Children don't know how to properly process emotions, heck even adults don't know.
The watch was a prop, it’s the watch her character wore. Actors take keepsakes from their characters all the time (she has something from evrry role she's done), they usually do it behind the backs of prodiction because it's not allowed but it's not really a big deal (otherwise they wouldn’t talk about it ever).
there's definitely history between SY and HongSae but seeing her hostility towards him I think it's negative.…
That could be because she felt belittled by him in the past. Or because he interogated her after her dad died (I don’t remember if they let her know they suspected her).

I didn't get that vibe because not only she told him to be more polite to Semi but also seemed annoyed that Semi would defend him just cause he was their senior. Throughout the dinner she didn't care to look over to him while he did, and then went after her after she was singled out for how she was dressed.

yeah, and one of the themes of the show is wealth and class division.
We have Semi wishing she was wealthy to better withstand her hardships (feeling embarrassed & wanting to fit it), while SanYoung doesn't really want anything to do with the wealthy (gets teased for her outfit, not conforming) and possessed!SanYoung cursing out the bratty rich kid.
Why do I feel that the evil spirit has been waiting for SanYoung? In the 1995 flashbacks, its voice was even Taeri's voice (unless the voice actor just sounds like Taeri?) so could SanYoung be the spirit's descendants or reincarnation?
Also, the yellow hue of the older flashbacks reminds me of Signal.
KTR is doing an amazing job! That scene with the doll you could see it so clearly, how the ghost had taken over…
there's definitely history between SY and HongSae but seeing her hostility towards him I think it's negative. I think he may have been a bit of a high strung rich/popular kid in high school. In the flashback he may have even made fun of her for collecting the coins (which she still does and he noticed and seemed to feel bad when some of her coins fell out). But he's changed while his friends have not (he points that out as he walks out after SY).
I get the feeling that this ghost that attached itself to SanYoung has been after her for a while.
It would explain why her mom left SY's dad and didn't let her have a relationship with him, why she freaked out when she saw SY holding something from the house, SY's dad making sure that if he died that his daughter was protected, and why the moment SY touched the hair decoration there was a voice saying "she took it".
Moon SoRi and Ra MiRan have joined the cast 🔥 I hope they announce the 3FL soon.
The longer they take to announce the 3rd lead I almost fear they've written the character out since she's the love interest to Jeong Nyeon :S (and also not a member of the theater troup). I hope that's not the case.
between who 💀 not everything needs romance in it, there is certainly little to no space for explicit romance…
A majority of kdramas have romance (some explicit some subtextual), no matter the genre. Romantic plotlines are not a scarcity, you can find it in everything.
But if you need romance to enjoy the show more you can ship whatever characters you want to ship.

I agree about HongSae. From the 3 main characters he's the least interesting, but that can always change as the show develops.
I don’t think it’s a romantic history.
