This was kinda lame. It started out interesting, then just dragged on, & poorly used every trope in the book. A rating of 8.4 is too high.
The worst part for me was the terrible love interest & "romance". Talk about romanticizing controlling men & turning them into saviors. Could've done w/out him, Shi Hyun filled both roles well enough.
in the commentary keh mentioned that while she wanted to add more of his background into the story she couldn't,…
Hopefully it does come out in later episodes then. So far we haven't seen much of him to suggest he may have another backstory. But there could always be a twist later in the show that firmly ties him to the main plot. But for now all we know of him is the flashbacks watching SY working & picking up money, that he has some rich friends, and really wants a promotion...all things that tie to his financial status in some way. Just like SY backstory is partially her financial struggles (as is Semi's, and the students that took out loans).
I would be perfectly okay with no love interests in the story, but if there's gonna be some romance included (like…
I agree, I think romantic subtext between SY & HaeSang would make more sense to me & they have a deeper mutual setup (but so far I don’t feel any romantic chemistry between Taeri and JungSe).
SY/HongSae pairing is a bit boring for my taste (but the actors do give off romantic chemistry. Maybe because they're supposed to act that way I guess).
I wish there was zero romance though. In Signal I was a bit annoyed at how the FL's story revolved around her unrequited feelings for the 2nd ml. Now the same seems to be happening but from the 2nd male lead's pov.
They are like father and daughter (characters). Their romance would make me uncomfortable.
How are they father and daughter? Just because he's older doesn’t make him a parental figure. Their age gap is similar to Ae-Shin and Eugene in Mr. Sunshine.
Not liking age gap relationships is understandable though. To each their own.

Imo enigma surrounding a character can only work if we later find out what makes the character behave in the way they do, even if it's not a full backstory. Leaving a character's backstory completely unexplained imo doesn’t make him enigmatic or interesting. We end up playing a guessing game that isn’t necessary in this case imo. We're 4 episodes in and he honestly doesn't feel like a main character to me.
Did she explain why she chose to not put in his backstory? Were they only talking about the first 4 episodes?
Funny how things work out that Taeri is in a somewhat male dominated drama w/ Revenant (most of the important cast are male characters) and then will move on to a fully female centric drama.
I can't wait for this one, hopefully it's well adapted.
The scene where SY watches snow whileHS is there, I'm like yeah this isn't going where romance fans want it to…
Imo the best case scenario for fans of this pair is that we see one sided feelings, from his side. Similar to Signal where the FL was in love with the second ML but he only saw her as his mentee (& was in love with someone else). So far SY is too preoccupied with what's happening to her to be noticing him in a romantic light. It's more believable for her to develop feeling for Hae Sang imo, since they have so much in common & are working closely.
But also, why keep hoping/asking for romance in a thriller when you can just ship anything regardless of if romantic feelings are canon? Is that too much of a western way of thinking? Lol. I'll ship anything I want, I don’t need canon to tell me 2 characters have romantic feelings.
Meanwhile, I want more SY & Semi scenes cause everytime they're together we get to see a much more light side of SY. I hope she opens up to her bestie at some point, she needs all the support she can get. And would love to see some cute flashbacks of them (like when they take the photobooth pics, or get their little matching rings).
“all ghosts aren't scary, at times it's nice to see them because you can see whom you miss dearly”When HaeS…
This episode made me like his character even more. I'm sure he's referring to the man he sees in his home. It's probably a friend from school that died you (suicide?).
pretty much. The way I see the end is the demon was threatening to drop the fish into the river cause it knows…
Presumably in it's initial creation it was being controlled by the Shaman but as it got "passed down" to people that are not Shaman's then it's no longer controlled but it still needs to abide by "rules"
My thoughts exactly like do they put them back and then they keep on possessing people later or was it just for…
if it works the same as the evil spirit then once it's possessed the person the fish are no longer possessed. When the person dies maybe it goes back into the fish? idk lol
I'm 20 minutes into the first episode and I already hate Sanyoung's mother. She doesn't work and depends on her…
Her mom has health issues so SY insists that she doesn't work. The mom also very likely knows a lot that she isn't letting on and has been trying to protect her daughter.
"Hit me if you can afford it." I LOVED THIS HAHA 😂 I'm going to have a list of all of HS's iconic/funny one-liners…
I love that the way the react to being scared is so in character. For her it's very loud and with all her body, with him it's all in the face and just trying to contain it lol Her asking if he likes kpop...does it look like he'd listen to kpop? haha
SY having the least athletic ability is so funny too.
Absolutely loved the 4th episode, especially the chemistry between San Young and Professor Hae Sang. It's not…
Thanks for this.
I speculated that San Young must be related to the evil spirit somehow since the spirits voice in the past is done by Taeri, and because they've talked about the evil spirit choosing/waiting for San Young. If Hae Sang is related to the Shaman then that would explain why he can see ghosts and definitely ties their stories more deeply. I also really like the dynamic between SY and HS.
Also, based on what he said this episode, it's safe to assume the person HS sees in his apartment is a friend of his that passed away.
My only negative criticism for the show (and it may just be a personal taste thing) is that I wish it had more focus on character development and a little less plot.
I think episode 3 was kind of weak and filler-ish compared to the first 2. The episode dragged on too much waiting…
Okay well I was just talking about how I percieved that scene since I thought we were having a discussion on the episode but I guess I won't continue. I only focused on that scene because to me it had a genuine explanation (you're free to dislike it) while the rest of the things you mentioned are somewhat superficial critiques imo and also explained by the fact that this episode was pretty much filler in my view. They were dragging things out to get to the twist in the end.

We know our demon is a young girl that was abused & killed by a shaman to turn her into this evil spirit but based on what we know about it fullfilling the desires of its host it could be that its cursed, almost like a genie? But unlike a genie the moment it latches onto someone the demon is in control so it continues to live in that way which would explain why anytime someone figures out its identity it kills them (SY dad & grandma died after reading the journal which the demon burned when it killed the grandma). Also, when it killed HS's mom it tried to burn the hair piece so maybe it was doing that so that it wouldn't get trapped there again after killing its current host. So maybe the way to kill it is to trap it in the hair piece again and then burn it?

I would ship SY w/ Semi if I were to pick a w/w ship for SY, SY/HaeSang for f/m.
