Jeong Nyeon is an MBC production. So it’s an OTT public drama?https://x.com/taeri_yeosin/status/1699294305293390168?s=46
This is bad news imo. That explains why we haven't heard anything about casting for BuYoung even though she's a lead character. Suspicions of her being written out are stronger than ever and that is a huge disappointment. The most we'll get is subtext if Buyoung is in the show. And if we're really lucky it'll be as heavy as the subtext in Night Light, the womance in that MBC drama was pretty darn strong.
Oh that's interesting! I didn't see that twist coming at all. I absolutely loved it. Chun Ae's episode was my…
I agree. Chunae and Mimo's episodes were my top 2 favorites.
I think one episode where half is Momi/Chunae on the run before being caught by Kyung Ja and the other half is about Momi on the run alone and reaching the point of leaving her daughter (and Pingping. I love that with all she had to deal with she kept Pingping. I'm sure she did it for Chunae 🥺) w/ her mom before turning herself in would have really been beneficial.
It'd give us more Momi/Chunae moments, Momi & Mimo, and a better explanation as to why Momi decided to give up.
I'd give anything for a "what could've been" special episode.
I read in an article that in the webtoon Momi and ChunAe are strictly enemies/rivals but the drama changed it and gave them this soulmate-type bond.
I'm so glad it did because, in a way, that friendship became an emotional core of the show and gave the story more heart. It's not always that the adaptation can improve on the original. But I like that they still managed to incorporate the canon manhwa dynamic in a creative way.
This was mind blowing. It was such a thrill to see a show with all the actresses as main leads, no bs romance…
Kyung Ja being the granny Mimo always talked about was an excellent twist.
The amount of parallels between Momi/ChunAe and Mimo/YeChun (including the names) is one small aspect I loved of this drama. It's an effective way of getting a story across without spelling it out. I really enjoy subtextual methods of storytelling. Imo it's clear both relationships were romantic or were friendships that if we continued to follow we'd see turn romantic eventually. As Nana said in an interview, "Chunae is a string of hope that Momi wants to protect and stay together with for the rest of her life. It's a bit different from family."
prof is literally a father figure to her, even oh jungse himself said he hates the fact that people ship them…
I'm not manipulating anything? I said they're friends, being okay w/ them as a ship doesn't change the fact they are friends in canon. But you said "he's literally a father figure" which is not canon but an interpretation you're passing off as fact by wording it that way. That's why I said to not believe what you wrote.
Ships are subjective. You may not like ships with big age gaps but others don't mind. Mr. Sunshine has a similar age gap. Haesang is canonically 15 years older than SanYoung (it's stated in the character bios on the sbs webpage).
Personally, I find Hongsae/SY as a ship boring. The only thing it has going is the actors chemistry because in terms of substance it's really lacking imo.
prof is literally a father figure to her, even oh jungse himself said he hates the fact that people ship them…
don't believe that lol. All Oh Jung Se has said in one of his final interviews is that he interpreted HaeSang and SanYoung as friends. Even KEH talks about them as friends not father/daughter. Nothing in the drama points to her seeing him as a father figure either. Besides people can ship whatever they want. If you ship HaeSang/SY that's fine. I ship SY/Semi and HaeSang/SY a little. The drama isn't about the ships anyway.
I know this will likely never happen but after seeing new interviews from Nana for Mask Girl I started to see the potential in her playing BuYoung. She's taller than Taeri but she actually looks the part and is a great actor that can play dramatic and sweet roles. https://twitter.com/jinanapics/status/1694673857758589030
Tattoos can be covered with make-up. And seeing as she's having big success with Mask Girl, a movie and drama last year (in which her character actually had lots of tattoos), another drama on the way it's not getting in the way of anything.
My favourite scene of this series is probably Nana As Kim Momi being BAT-SHIT CRAZY and BEATING the HELL OUT of…
I loved that sequence too. I wish we could've spent more time with that angry savage MoMi.
We didn't get much of her coping with leaving her daughter behind or missing her friend...maybe even feeling guilt for her death. We needed one more episode imo.
you probably didn't watch all episodes. They mother broke the window
I think the writer didn't want to dwell too much on the police side of things so a lot is just ignored or left up to personal interpretation. I'm more than fine with that since police stories bore me.
I believe MoMi was charged with the deaths of Oh Nam, the driver of the sunken car (maybe Chun Ae as well), and Chun Ae's husband. Possibly even the first dude that tried to rape her. I don’t think it's mentioned in the show but I imagine Oh Nam must have been named a culprit in the hotel murder. His mom was clearly in denial which is why she kept trying to paint him as a perfect son in front of her friends.
EP 4 - can't help but think how they would make a great GL
I like to think of them as a tragic couple. They definitely grew to love each other immensely in the short time they knew each other. Enough to kill and die for each other, I think they had good setup to be more. In another timeline I like to imagine they run away successfully, raise Mimo together, and are happy.
Me too, I really love Nana's part, but in this case, I don't think it would've been suitable for her to play a…
I agree, there needed to be at least some scenes showing her pregnancy and explaining why she decided to turn herself in. Definitely wouldn't have minded more flashbacks of MoMi and Chun Ae or to see them on the run a little longer before being found by the woman.
Loved her in Glitch and in Mask Girl she really showed what she is capable of. In both dramas she managed to be a scene stealer imo. Very underrated actress. Deserves a lot more major roles.
I'm gonna watch her other dramas now (been meaning to for a while).
I haven't read much of the webnovel but 5 movies seems enough? I just hope it leaves room for the cast to do other projects in between.
If true they could film 2 movies at a time. That's what was done for Alienoid, both movies were filmed in the same year.
We'll see, I'd be happy with a strong womance even if they never explicitly say they are romantic (or kiss).
The most we'll get is subtext if Buyoung is in the show. And if we're really lucky it'll be as heavy as the subtext in Night Light, the womance in that MBC drama was pretty darn strong.

I don't think filming is starting in September like it was rumored.

You're right about police possibly suspecting a 3rd party. That's likely why Oh Nam's mom had surgey to change her face.
We didn't get much of her coping with leaving her daughter behind or missing her friend...maybe even feeling guilt for her death.
