This was a very good drama, I'd give it a solid 8-8.5. We follow MoMi but really the entire story is made up of…
The episode centered on MoMi and Chun Ae might be my favorite. They did a good job at making me invested in their friendship (and Chun Ae as a character). Chun Ae's death made me emotional, Nana & Jae Yi were excellent in their scenes. It was sad yet beautiful that MoMi's death paralleled ChunAe. I interpret MiMo and her friend as a parallel to MoMi and Chun Ae's friendship in general.
MoMi's nemesis, the old religious lady, was a great character too.
This was a very good drama, I'd give it a solid 8-8.5. We follow MoMi but really the entire story is made up of characters that have become outcasts for one reason or another and become susceptible to manipulation, abuse, and other misfortune. With a critique on negative beauty standards and bullying. Also, expect something that, imo, is very different to most kdramas you may be used to.
The three actresses that played MoMi at her different stages did amazing although (and this may be a personal bias) I kinda wish Nana had been kept playing MoMi until the end. It was a bit jarring to suddenly get a different actress playing the lead for the final act when none of the other characters got recast after the time jump.
Rumored to be a Netflix original, hopefully this means no censorship in the drama because of the general plot…
That's also my hope but imo it largely depends on the creators. If they're homophobic or fear alienating conservative korean viewers. One example is the korean adaptation of Call My Agent. The kdrama erased the sexuality of the originally LGBT female lead.
It would look so bad on them to erase a large part of what makes the webtoon.
Oh my girl Seung Hee will join the cast! Her singing voice is really beautiful. Which makes me think she might…
I hope she's BuYoung, visually she fits BY so well. And when announcing each cast it's been mentioned in their casting announcement if they are part of the troupe (Ye Eun and Yoon Hye), even if they didn’t say which character they'll play.
Kim Hieora will not be part of the cast due to personal circumstances. 🥺I hope it’s nothing serious & that…
Now I'm wondering if the other cast that don't have assigned roles aren't confirmed. Taeri and Ye Eun are the only ones we know what character they play.
I'm currently on episode 10 and I must say that the relationship between the two ladies keeps me going, it's what's keeping me invested. They have great chemistry and the focus of their dynamic is 100% on them without the intrusion of an unnecessary love story with the male lead (or any other character so far). It completely passes the Bechdel test. It also borders on non-platonic so much that I feel confident in stating that there are romantic feelings between the two. No doubt in my mind that this was intended by the creatives.
I keep speeding past most of the business scheming, it's too slow and pretty uneventful most of the time. The first three episodes sell the FL as a pseudo-mafia daughter but instead of leaning into that it becomes more and more watered down. She's just a tough businesswoman in the end...kind of wish they had made her much more ruthless.
there's no endgame for who ever is asking but i can tell you who they implied
I don’t think any of the ships were implied as endgame. SY had a nice closure moment with each character.
SY and Haesang rightfully shared the final scene together because they were the two leads of the drama and went through a lot together. Not saying no to the ship just that I don’t think they were implied as endgame.
A full-on happy ending, I'm glad. Well, bittersweet considering SY will lose her sight eventually.
The scene where Hyanji hugs SY from behind and asks her to let her stay...maximum on the creepy scale, what a great scene. One of my favorites of the final two episodes. The other favorite was when it was chasing after HaeSang and HongSae at the beginning of episode 11, my nerves were on high. Also, all the Hyanji flashback scenes were really good.

I'm hopeful 🤞

I give it a 6.8/10 so far.

What was the point of that substory? The drama would be the exact same without the inclusion of those "feelings" from him.
