Title When It Rains, It Pours Spoiler
How hard Sei had barely stopped himself from going to Kazuaki according to their agreement, But in the end, instead…
Yes! Sei was trying very hard not to reveal his true feelings. I don't know how he pulled it off. Seeing Hagiwara like that broke me.

Title When It Rains, It Pours Spoiler
For those that have read the book, does it have a happy ending?
Both relationships end. Hagiwara and Sei spend some time apart but they do reconnect and begin to build a relationship. They acknowledged that they need to take a step back and try to get to know each other before they commit to more.

When Sei said "Just thinking the person who doesn't want this body is really taking it for granted," it dawned…
One thing that wasn't clearly laid out in this episode. Hagiwara and Sei spent 2 nights together. They stayed the entire weekend and explored. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I agree with you. I think the biggest take away for Hagiwara was that he is worthy of physical affection. He had gotten use to Kaori flinching every time he attempted to touch her. Which is why he was so cautious with Sei initially. It's also why Hagiwara didn't want to ask for permission for everything he just wanted to be in the moment and have an intimate encounter with Sei. In those two days they both got very attached. Sei is just better at masking his emotions. In the novel, they both already had some feelings for each other. That's why Sei said, "it all started at the museum". Once they put a face to the person they were already too far gone.

Kaori's biggest offense, in my opinion, wasn't just not being intimate with Hagiwara. It was how she embarrassed him by telling her friends she is turned off when she sees him naked. From Hagiwara's perspective, the relationship was really over at that point but he tried one more time and was rejected.

The fallout is very bad between Sei and Fujisawa. I hope they tame it a bit because in the novel it's really bad. But both couples do part ways.

Ok thank you for that! Since you've read the novel, I gotta ask what is Fujisawa's deal? Does he like Sei or is…
@Stayinstay yes, that's the secret. Fujisawa didn't tell Sei that he was the last person to see his parents alive.

no problem. there is another novel with Fujisawa's story. It would be great if they decide to make it a drama too. but from what I understand he leaves the city and moves to the country and gets a love interest. I haven't translated that one yet. not sure if I will.

Hey, could you please tell the source from where I can read the novel.. ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘ˆ๐Ÿป
Unfortunately, the three part series was not translated into English. ๐Ÿ˜• I bought the Japanese version for this show and translated it so I'd know what was going to happen.

I'm hoping it comes out in the next episode and they clearly explain it.

So, Fujisawa and Sei are childhood friends, Fujisawa has been in love with Sei since they were young. Fujisawa was also close with Sei's parents. On the day they died in a car accident Fujisawa was the last one to see them alive. In the novel, they died after Sei got the job he's currently working at and not in college. Basically, the day they died they pulled over because Fujisawa flagged them down to talk to them and they excitedly showed Fujisawa a gift they bought for Sei and they talked about looking forward to Sei getting married and having kids next. They asked Fujisawa to always look after Sei and then they pulled off and not long after got into an accident. Fujisawa never told Sei about that last interaction and he blames himself for their death. The reason he hasn't taken their relationship further is because he feels like he will rob Sei of the life his parents wanted for him before they died.

It's like Hagiwara said when Sei first told him how be fell in love with Fujisawa. It's a tough situation because Sei fell in love while he was grieving and even Hagiwara said he wouldn't know what to do in that situation if he were Fujisawa.

Fujisawa and Kiki aren't in an affair. The show is a part of a series of novels and Fujisawa gets a love interest…
Yes! for Fujisawa I kind of understand. He and Sei are childhood friends and he knew Sei's parents. Fujisawa also feels partially to blame for their car accident because they stopped to talk to him and changed their route before they were killed. So for Fujisawa, he loves Sei and wants to be with him but he feels a lot of guilt towards him. That's the secret he is hiding from Sei. For Kiki, her dad cheated on her mom and they got divorced. She forgave her dad but never resolved that within herself. So she just wanted a man around but didn't want to emotionally connect. That's why she treated Hagiwara like an ornament and talked to him like she was a kindergarten teacher talking to a student.

I read a spoiler somewhere about the events in the novel, so my mind sort of filled in the blanks, but I would've…
@any_anka you are right. I feel Hagiwara was definitely attached and devastated because he was accepted and he could communicate openly and unapologetically with someone. Sei's cold and direct manner of communication matched Hagiwara's direct and affectionate style.

But really Sei broke first, when Hagiwara asked him to stay another night at the hotel. Sei's response was, "What do we do no that we've crossed this boundary?" Sei already knew they were attached at that point.

That's true, I love the attention to tiny details in this drama that makes the characters feel more real and multidimensional.
Absolutely! It also drives home the fact that Hagiwara is truly a good guy at heart. From the way he gently handles Sei's toe with the broken nail, to the way he's visibly hurt to see that he is causing Sei pain.

Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't make it clear that they spent two days together. That would have made it clearer why Hagiwara was so attached. They also didn't show that they eventually got comfortable with each other and "went at it like animals".

"You don't have to worry that i break.. "I just love their conversations. Raw.. real.. honest. I just hope they…
Yes! In the novel Sei said that to Hagiwara because he wanted him to be rough with him. ๐Ÿ™ˆ The first time they had sex they talked and communicated the entire time. For the next two days, they just went at it like "animals". ๐Ÿ˜†

Neat. Thank you. I thought I was seeing things.
On When It Rains, It Pours Feb 7, 2025
For those who are a little confused by the sex scene and the events after, it's because in the novel the events were reversed. Before they slept together they established the ground rules. They would not end their relationships and that them having sex would be strictly transactional. This is why Hagiwara said, "i can't do this." In the novel he said, 'I can't do it this way, can I do it like I always do it.' Which meant he likes to touch and engage with his partner and doesn't like transactional sex. So the scene's where Hagiwara is touching Sei and it looks awkward are because Sei is stiff and doesn't want to emotionally connect with Hagiwara. Sei was already falling for Hagiwara and he was trying to keep his distance.

In the novel, when Sei puts his clothes on the leave, Hagiwara asks him to stay and they both send messages to their partners and turn off their phones. They were in the hotel room for 2 days total. The breakfast they have was the only food they ate.

Hopefully this explains why Hagiwara was so devastated when Sei was acting so cold to him. They made a real connection and Hagiwara wanted to be honest about his feelings instead of running from them.
On When It Rains, It Pours Feb 7, 2025
When Hagiwara refused to talk about his first time because he respected the privacy of his partner, that tells you how betrayed he felt when Kaori talked about their sex life to her friend. That relationship was over at that very moment.
