In the novel, Fujisawa was in love with Sei since they were children. On the day Sei’s parents died in the car accident, Fujisawa flagged them down to say hello. During their conversation, Sei’s parents said they were proud of Sei because of his new job and that they were looking forward to him one day getting married and having kids. After Sei’s parents pulled off from talking to Fujisawa, they made a turn and not long after died. Fujisawa blamed himself for their death and he never told Sei he was the last person to see them alive.
While Sei was grieving, Fujisawa basically isolated him from his other friends and became Sei’s only source of comfort. During their argument in the scene in episode 6, Sei asked Fujisawa after he revealed his guilt about Sei’s parents, why he didn’t just have sex with him and keep moving forward. Fujisawa never really answered that question. When Sei wanted to be intimate, Fujisawa said he felt guilty towards Sei’s parents because he felt that Sei having kids and getting married had become their dying wish. Fujisawa is a narcissist and is abusive and he wanted to keep Sei to himself and when Sei stepped out on him, he blew up like someone took his toy.
Regarding the SA scene, it was MUCH worse than portrayed in episode 6. Fujisawa acted out of anger and jealousy and at one point Sei began thinking of Hagiwara and how he was sorry towards him because of what was happening between he and Fujisawa. When Sei met with Hagiwara afterwards, Sei let Hagiwara believe that they just had sex, but Hagiwara figured out Sei was assaulted and he then told him that if he finds himself crying alone to blame him.
In the novel, Kaori isn’t asexual, she has daddy issues. After her mother had her, Kaori’s father stopped having sex with her mother and cheated on her. Even though the family reconciled, Kaori never trusted men again.
Hagiwara knew this, at one point in the novel he said, “I knew Kaori craved the presence of a man but not the romance of a man. I just never knew it was this bad.” Hagiwara was patient with her and tried to slowly show her that he was trustworthy but she never talked about it or showed him any sign that she wanted to change.
When Kaori’s friend told Hagiwara that she would come to him when he was ready to have a baby, that was because that was the only reason Kaori could see actually having sex with Hagiwara again. It wasn’t his “masculinity” that turned her off, it was his “d”. It was purely because he was a man that she was turned off.
Kaori needed therapy before she got into her many relationships, instead she keeps looking for the one person that will let her exist without physical intimacy. If you notice her smiling and laughing it's because she doesn't know how to deal with her emotions. Notice how she's ONLY shocked that it was a man and NOT that Hagiwara cheated. She's dealt with this before and still hasn't done the work to resolve her issues or to at least be up front with her partners.
Episode 6 left me completely shattered. The scene with Kazuaki’s disgusting reaction to Sei’s choice was horrifying.…
That scene was SO much worse in the novel. I had to skim through it because it was so bad. Fujisawa is a creep and there is no redemption for him in my book. Even thought he got an entire book in the series and a love interest.
I’m not even 2 minutes in and I already feel the absolute ick and chils, the amount of control Fuji has over…
@Arthenha, exactly! When Sei and Hagiwara ran into Sei's old friend and the friend told him he felt like Fujisawa was keeping him to himself. That was a BIG clue of his controlling nature.
to everyone that tried so desperately protect Kazu you all look like clowns 🤡 he is sick in the head. and that…
Yeaaaah I think a lot of people will have a rude awakening about Kazu. I don't know how they missed the clues, but hey, everyone sees things differently.
As I sit here counting the minutes until the next episode is released, I'm reflecting on how much I will miss the comment section of this drama when it's over.
Kaori finally realized that Kazuaki started to understand that their relationship had changed into something of…
I agree with you! And imagine having KIDS in that miserable marriage?! They should have broken up a long time ago. In fact, as soon as the beds were split, it was done then. They were roommates.
I’m going through these comments and I want to say that first of all Sei is not even in a relationship to be…
Regarding Kaori, EXACTLY! The worst offense for Hagiwara is revealing details of your sexual partner to others. She broke that trust by telling her friend she isn't attracted to Hagiwara sexually (the literal translation was, "When he pulls out his 'd' I get turned off"). There is no bigger betrayal in a relationship.
So many folks keep saying Kaori has "stopped liking sex" with Hagiwara or does not find him sexually attractive…
Actually, the reason Hagiwara says "can we do this just normally?" is because the scene in the drama and the scene in the novel are reversed. In the novel, they had a conversation about what they are planning to do. Sei wanted them to just have sex, more like a transaction. Hagiwara initially agreed but once they started he said he couldn't do it that way. He needed to touch and be intimate with his partner.
Everything else you said about Kaori is spot on. But that one part was an issue with how the scene deviates from the novel, Which makes an important piece of information missing.
A better translation for the scene with their excuses for sleeping with one another: Hagiwara: I'm glad you came yesterday. Sei: I'm here because you said you were having a hard time. Hagiwara: Seriously, why did you come? Sei: I wanted a secret because he's hiding something from me and I want to know what it is. Hagiwara: Kazuaki Fujisawa? Sei: I want to know, but I don't want to know. (Sei pauses) Sei: What about you Hagiwara? Hagiwara: What about me... ah, cheating that will never be discovered? Sei: We're both men, after all. Sei: We can all agree that this won't cause either of them to break up. It won't change anything. It won't kill anyone. Hagiwara: Yes Sei: I'm going to go. Hagiwara: It's raining. Sei: I know that. Sei: Here. Money for the hotel. (Sei pauses and looks at Hagiwara) Sei: What is this? Are you sad I'm leaving? Hagiwara: I don't want to give you back. Sei: What are you talking about, idiot? Hagiwara: I'm serious. Sei: That's why it's bad. (Hagiwara grabs Sei and embraces him) Sei: What should we do? What should we do? Hagiwara: We're in this situation. (We've already crossed a boundary) Sei: What should I do? Hagiwara: We're stupid. Sei: That too.
Quote: | But at the back of my stupid ass mind all I can think about is the infidelity but at the same | time…
Kaori has daddy issues and Fujisawa has guilt issues.
Kaori's father left her mother and cheated after her mom had her. even though they have a good relationship now Kaori only likes the idea of a man but is not comfortable with intimacy and romance with a man.
Fujisawa was the last one to see Sei's parents alive before their accident. he never told Sei this. He feels guilty towards Sei because he flagged Sei's parents down to chat and when they left afterwards they got into an accident. Fujisawa has loved Sei since childhood but the timing was never right.
you are correct to see Fujisawa as violent, in the novel, he SAs Sei after he finds out about Hagiwara.

"I'm in love with someone else. Let's break up."
I dunno why I chuckled. I live for the raw honesty.
