Title Womb Love
The drama is good. I don't think it's just about the issue of infidelity. I believe that viewers from Western…
I agree with you. But I would add that even some Western woman are raised to suppress their own needs. I would say that is a global issue for women.

When it comes to complex storylines, like the ones I enjoy in Japanese dramas, I've found that some people aren't experienced enough in life to understand the complexities of relationships. When you're less experienced, you think you know how you will react in certain situations because you've never actually been in those situations. So, people tend to judge harshly.

For a human being to be touch starved and love starved in a relationship is very hard to deal with. It can cause you to fantasize about a better life. Which leaves you vulnerable to anyone showing you even a crumb of affection. Both men and women can experience this. But it's hard to know this if you haven't been in a long term committed relationship with someone that you felt starting to drift away from you. That's a unique life experience everyone cannot relate to.

So yes, I totally agree with you.

I wonder why the rating is so low. This storyline isn't much different from Futtara Doshaburi, which started at 7.5 and is now a strong low 8. I guess female infidelity is judged more harshly?

Title The Glory
Seven episodes in and I just realized this is basically the Chinese period piece version of the Korean drama "The Glory". Bullied woman seeks revenge. ML who really loves her helps her get her revenge. They bond over a Go board. Ok, I'm in.

Soooo, let me get this straight. You watched this man stab himself AND he attacked you, PLUS he hired someone…
I completely understand Daon. Doesn't prevent the frustration. Frustration and empathy can co-exist. We are not limited to a single emotion in a complex situation.

Yes and it was painful for me to do. That's why I helped so many times before that. It took a lot for me to do it. And he would still harass me even when I wasn't in contact with her. I eventually moved and everything stopped. I didn't find out about her leaving until like ten years later when I ran into her and we decided to have lunch to catch up. We spoke a few more times after but our lives were so different at that point we naturally drifted apart again. But that's life.

No, you cannot force someone out of a toxic situation. But you have to protect your own peace at times. We were very young, in our 20s, I'm in my 40s now and it may not have been the best decision, but I still believe I would do the same. The thing is you cannot save everyone. After the 4th time, what do you do as a friend? stand by and watch them be eventually killed? I did not have the strength to do that. I informed her family, they already knew about it and couldn't help her. So, there was nothing left for me to do but wish her well and wait. should I have stressed myself and continued to put myself in danger when he came looking for her banging on my door? should I have continued taking time off work to take her to the police and then watching her drop the charges? No. did I deserve to be angry, yes. did I understand what she was going through mentally, yes and no. I knew he had a hold on her which was also why I could not continue to intervene.

I understand. I've witnessed a friend do this. After helping her escape him multiple times. I got angry with her and cut her off. Eventually, she ended up with a broken arm and left for good. We talked a few years ago, but our friendship was never the same. At some point, they have to choose their own survival. it was too hard to watch her suffer. similar to parents watching a child on drugs. I think that's why this part of the storyline is so infuriating to me. I get the abuse, I get the grooming, it still makes me angry. if that makes sense?

I see where you are coming from. But his protective nature towards his sister should have been enough to cut dude off completely. Shoulda been a STRONG block of Jaemin. plus he just told SY that he wanted to be free from them. It's just weird from a writer perspective.

So true! 😆 but it just feels like lazy writing. The story is so good I feel like it should have been 16 episodes so they didn't have to rush the story progression. I would have loved Daon standing up for himself and fighting back more and THEN the build up to the kidnapping.

RANT AHEAD
Soooo, let me get this straight. You watched this man stab himself AND he attacked you, PLUS he hired someone to attack you AND your little sister. First of all, you're going to be too traumatized to want to see this person LET alone meet them in a dark basement parking lot. But you're just gonna go meet him with no one with you??? When you're about to practice for a work presentation?! It defies all logic and common sense. This is totally bad writing. I thought Daon was suppose to be smart? So what he wants to give you something, tell him to put it in the mail or ship it to you if it's that serious. Better yet... BLOCK HIM.

If you thought Bokurano was explicit, you should see The Pornographer series, or films such as Dangerous Drugs…
yesssssss, I've watched both of those dramas but I never suggest them to anyone because everyone has different palettes 🫢🫢🫢

I bought it off of Honto and translated it page by page with a GPT one night when I was bored. There isn't an English translation, unfortunately.

For a drama that kept talking about sex, I felt unsatisfied with the sex scenes. Maybe I just got spoiled by how…
I agree with you. The scenes in "Bokura no Micro na Shuumatsu" were quick but intense. In the novel for this drama, there were other sex scenes that they didn't portray. I'm not sure why they took this route but it left out a lot of context to how Hagiwara and Sei's relationship accelerated after they spent two nights in the hotel.

Just the fact that they didn't explicitly state that it was 2 nights in the hotel confuses the story. Also, they left out the fact that they initially discussed a friends with benefits relationship, but Hagiwara didn't want to suppress his feelings.

Wanted to capture the theme of sexual frustration in this edit, if anyone's curious :https://www.tiktok.com/@bilily.bts/video/7473651146566012162I…
I love your edit. Initially, I felt there weren't enough intimate moments in the show, but when I saw your edit I was like... ok hold on, there was a lot more intimacy than I remembered. I think the slow pacing of the story and the show makes you forget the build of of their love for one another.

Title When It Rains, It Pours Spoiler
Other observations and thoughts from the show - Potential Spoilers Ahead
1. Hagiwara's long nails. Since he's no longer with Kaori his nails are getting long.
2. I really love a good black cat/golden retriever relationship. I love how Hagiwara just GETS Sei's sarcastic humor. He cuts through Sei's sarcasm when he uses it as a defense mechanism but he allows Sei to be himself. Sei has a strong personality, only a person who is warm and kind like Hagiwara could really make Sei drop his defenses. Fujisawa's love was more harsh and domineering. While Hagiwara is more caring and yielding but firm when necessary.
3. One thing I forgot from the novel, was how Hagiwara ended up at Sei's new apartment. Hiraiwa, Sei's friend from college, does eventually go to dinner with Sei and Hagiwara and he even tries to get Hagiwara to go to Sei's house to help him paint. Hiraiwa was an accidental wingman.
4. Hagiwara's coworker, Shinomiya, has great instincts when he says they probably broke up because of infidelity. Hagiwara shows how strong and loyal he is to both Kaori and Sei, because he never reveals anything, not even a hint.
5. I like that the adaptation has Sei confess first, it makes it more meaningful. In the novel, in true black cat form, he doesn't confess until Hagiwara does.
