Am I the only one who expected to see CY flaunting her dressing up as a lady in front of XZ than the princess? I wanted to see his reaction as he had never seen her like that!

Even Ning’s Asthma magically vanished after that lady caressed her chest once ! She did not have any problem after while in initial episodes it was told CY has to work hard for Ning’s medicine as well

Mr Zhao landing on YZ's lap and asking if he is okay in the third epi is hilarious. Their expression is so on point.
By the way, a question to people well versed in Mandarin. What does CY call Mr. Zhao and his wife actually? I am not fan of subtitles changing the addressing to their names whenever they use terms like sister, brother etc. I get what Ning is calling CY but not what she addresses Mr Zhao and Mrs Zhao

So on point. She could have been be a great foot soldier . That does not make her weak. Heck, the very first episode she showed she is strong by saving ML. She showed how smart she is by saving ML again by hiding him from the authorities. There was no need of this unrealistic push in the second half

Yessss ! I loved both his and her entry scene ! Both were amazing! The way she keeps looking at him turning her head back with big smile until she can no more when she is entering with fanfare 😍😍
Bathtub scene , her running to him in the alley ! So many scenes I loved but unlike first half it’s scattered around !
And the costume of them both when they enter the capital is so so good. Kudos to the costume designer !

Haha ! first half I am sure I will watch atleast a couple of more times within 2026 I am sure.:P it’s just so good and the more I watch I notice so many little things ! In the second half may be only a very few selected scenes.

I could not relate to them anymore after what he did with his foster mother and I could not care less why YQQ had to poison her with so much love and care ! Too many unnecessary QM and YQQ scenes instead of using that precious moments to show more details into the plot and humour not landing in second half brought my rating from 10 to 9 !

If not kids at the least I also wanted Ning and XZ interaction and CY and Ning reunion at last and also the bird !
I would prefer that then overly extended pity party of YQQ poisoning QM

In alternate ending did WY get his lady love though ? The way he mentions your aunt has prepared something to XZ I assumed he did !

He was still wrong for forcing himself on YQQ which I guess he did in novel too ? I cannot empathise with QM after he killed his foster mother . He became a monster. Anything he did or did not do could justify him. If only they did not show that then may be I could atleast see his perspective a bit

For me it was still okay if it was romantic scenes of second couple but I can't even call it romantic. It is no less than an assault scenes for me. I feel disgusted watching that toxic scenes. So I don't get why so many scenes were added of them. One or two was enough to show their equation and how she was trying to escape from him. Instead the whole military arc needed more time.

Rewatching from the beginning bcs why not. First half is just too good.
XZ mourning in front of his own spirit tablet with CY is so funny. CY admitting that she had prepared the table in case he died. lol. She is so cute.

I did watch the remaining from leaked episodes itself (bcs I don’t have money to pay for express package and I would have seen in k**kh anyway )and it’s not that difficult to understand what is going on with bad subtitles at this point . And I had marked 35 seen a few hours ago and marked 40 only when I completed. So don’t worry my review would still be the same even if I had watched only 35 or 40 so I had written the review when I completed 35 episodes. If you read my points all are from 35 or earlier episodes so there are no spoilers too.

Ofcourse there are differences so I used the word similar and not the word same. And similarity in the story meaning the story between two people and not how drama showed it. If WY was the lead of the story and it was his journey to be showed then his story w.r.t to Consort Shu, that is what I meant. In both the couples, they loved each other deeply . Guy was an influential figure in the court. Girl was forced to become consort. The consort died. The guy remained unmarried and loyal to her till the end. I was talking about these similarities.
I know the WY married but it was namesake to save the honour of another's wife and there was no real relationship between them.

As for the questions you raised about WY and Consort Shu may be novel readers can help. I too wished they showed more of the falcon and ChangNing.

I like his youth drama flourish in time the most. Well now that has gone to second. First comes POJ hands down

I disagree. 35 episodes is enough to know if you like the drama or if not then the reason why they did not like, to give a review. Generalising every opinion as negative/antis/haters does not make sense to me. Everyone has the right to voice out their opinion. Expecting everyone to have the same opinion is not realistic.

Agree. Despite my criticism on many aspects of second half it is still one of the best in recent periodic dramas.

Story of Wei Yan and Consort Shu reminds me of the story of leads of One and Only. Their story is quite similar.
