Agreed. The ML feels kinda 2D at this point. Limited character development, barely any action scenes for a supposedly…
Exactly I just posted the same about how can she knock a commander out cold. It does not sit well with me at all. She literally just joined the army but is being treated like a general already. I get that she has done a lot specially with getting the grains but LI army should not really know that because they are not part of the Xie camp then how come they easily allow their leader to be knocked out and then promise their allegience to her!
There are only 7 eps left, and there’s still so much to unfold. Xie Zheng is portrayed as a Marquis and a war…
Same here. I just posted about her knocking out commander LI is also not something she could get away easily. On top of that he apologising to her that he was wrong is too much whitewashing her deeds. If she was not FL she would never get that treatment. I did not like how she gets a leeway just to push the narrative that she is strong and brave. These days just to show FL strong they bring down ML who becomes just a simping lover than having any weight. I love CY and her journey but she need not be invincible at the get go. What I say might be controversial to many but FL can be allowed to be weaker physically to other exerienced warriors and in this story to ML considering the experience he has and the kind of environment he grew up in. There is no need to show her being equal to him and I am talking about her physical and fighting skills only not about their equation as a couple but I feel to push the narrative they try to forcibly make her strong but it does not land up for me. I do appreciate they show her takiing his advice at the fighting scene though. Atleast there they showed his experience is guiding her.
In ep 31.. Once he calms down, Commander Li apologizes to chang yu coz his actions as a leader is reckless..
It is not like he could lead when he was knocked out. His soldiers followed her like nobody business. There was hardly any impact of his absence. It was her who led which she could do if he had fallen as well. Also, is he really a general or just a commander? Anyways, i think he had the right to decide what had to be done. She could have talked to him. He was not a sort of person who would not listen. I know time constraint in a war etc.. but knocking out a general/commander does not sit well with me . I mean if someone did that to her she would not take it well too. Imagine seeing her recklessness someone managed to knock her out when she tried to kidnap Sui. It is same for LI specially when his long time mentor is dead. I don't know I feel inorder to make her invincible there are certain liberties taken with her character which I would be happy without. I am not sure if in novel she did that or just in the show.

That's why i am outright not calling her wrong. I just felt she could have dealt this a better way if she thought he was wrong. She ended up being a good fighter and killed Prince. If anyone and everyone started acting on their own it will be a havoc. Like she did by kidnapping Sui the last time. It was a very reckless act too but atleast there she had a reason so I did not blame her but here he was not doing anything reckless. he just wanted to fight. Only consequence of it at worst is him being dead which he himself has the right to decide. He is not a kid to be coddle. He is not even a great commander that his loss would mean much. No offense to him but that is the truth that is why his absence too did not make a difference :) There was no other consequence if he fought. Atleast they did not show any other wrongdoing from him. In all of this i feel like she is getting leeway either by plot armor ( like so many men likes her ) or due to her father's legacy. I love her so much for what she is already .I don't want her to be someone undefeatable and having some saving complex of anyone and everyone around her. It would ruin her character for me.

That is a different matter altogether whether his actions were right or wrong but her actions were not entirely right. Talking it out is different but treating someone like that in battlefield is debatable. Also I feel he is made to apologise to portray FL is right which is again something I am not really comfortable with. If it was not FL's actions and somebody else she would not be treated that way for sure. I did not mind her doing that to YZ because he is her husband and she has some right on him but she can't keep doing that to every individual . It will be a disrespect to them specially when she is not the leader!
Episode 30. i a bit conflicted about FL'S action. Up until now i understood her actions and reactions and I love her for it but the way she ordered Jin to Knock out Commander Li was something I feel was not right. She does not have right to decide who will fight or not if the person himself wants to fight. What would be her reaction if someone let's say Yu Qianqian knocked her out in the carriage when she decided to fight. Also the way she says i should have killed Prince earlier than all would be saved seems out of character for her. IT feels too condescending that she can kill someone so easily when nobody else could. I love her so much for what she is already .I don't want her to be someone undefeatable and having some saving complex of anyone and everyone around her. It would ruin her character for me.
Can someone please spoil me. I am in episode 19. Is Mrs zhao dead too ? I fast forwarded the masscare scene unable to watch it so asking. The only episode i skipped some part bcs I did not want to watch after mrs song died!
Ahhh episode 18 is so painful to watch. All the good xigu valley people dead at one go. Loved how brave magistrate's daughter was at the end!! Mr wang and Mr Li too died :(
she was given a huge silver ingot by XZ in the episodes before. she mentioned she traded for the horse from blacksmith.…
Okay thanks! I will take it if you say so. It was my assumption that riding alone that too that confidently needed some level of practice. Atleast google says 6 months but I assumed atleast a week for someone like CY if that is not the case then good
Why shouldn't she be able to ride a horse? Heck, she can fly to the rooftop.
Riding a horse is a different skill than martial arts. You cannot learn overnight even if you have the strength and other skills to understand the techniques. I don't see how flying to the rooftop can be compared to riding horse. I am coming from the assumption that horse was a rarity among commoners. If not then I understand she might have learnt early on like any other skills but in any case she has to have had practice.
In ep 17, Mr Zhao, FL's neighbour uncle, asked her where she got the horse from. She replied she traded the horse…
Ohh. I did not reach that part yet then. Thanks! It feels a little too far fetched that she knows how to ride a horse though. You can teach martial arts in secret but riding a horse in front of the village when he wanted to hide his identity would be difficult. Anyways we have to go with it!
Thought so! The show had done such good depiction of the FL and her circumstances but these kind of things brings me out of that setting. It feels as if these days periodic shows try too hard to make FL perfect and cool disregarding the setting she is in!!
Please someone help me out. In episode 17 CY rides a horse to get to XZ after she learns that he might be taken in by the army. How did she get hold of the horse. I know she came with the horse after rescuing the magistrate but how come she has a horse now. I did not get. How come she knows to ride a horse in the first place. Also Wasn't that a rarity among common people. I know she learnt martial arts from her father but did he teach her to ride horse too? It seems unlikely though.
The visuals of the men in this drama!!. For me, Chancellor Wei and that grey haired madman hit differently.
I was thinking exactly that in episode 14 when they showed Chancellor wei sitting and his wife comes with tea! For me he ranks right after XZ right now :P
Gosh. After Blossom this is the first periodic series i really loved and no wonder the director is the same. There…
1. Their first kiss in episode 9. The way he asked do you want to taste some candy. 2. The way he went berserk with Guo Dali when Chang Yu was drugged. 3. The way he carries Ning in lantern festival after beating up Song Yan 4. The whole Chang Yu and the gang who turns to her side in pork shop. 5. The way Chang Yu says thanks with tears in her eyes the day he saves Ning.
Ahh.. there are so so many but the top few I can list upto episode 14
