Can someone explain to me, why/when do they fall for each other? It seems like 1 episode she's trying to seduce…
I'm with you on that, even though I have no problem with retrospective scenes. I can believe that she fell for him because of all her misjudged notions. Once they were cleared it wouldn't be surprising to develop feelings. But I find his falling for her unbelievable. He knows she's planted there by his wife from the start. He keeps her only to see what she's up to. Her acting "seductive" is too vulgar to be tempting, and she's so deceitful she's not even a nice person. She's never honest, not even by the end of the drama. Not to mention all the husbands of her clients she had to sleep with before. To me his attraction to her had more to do with the fact that he lived like a monk all his life than with any romantic involvement.
If he wants to find a nice honest woman, he might start by rethinking what he considers 'sexual assault'. And…
She slept and flirted with him long before she told him she was married. Also, sexual assault in Chinese dramas seems to be seen as a form of flirt. This guy was a true gentlemen compared to most.
He wasn't present during the marriage or the following three years. After he came back he tried to meet her on several occasions but she always escaped or lied about being his wife. His wife also didn't know what he looked like until he came back but she saw him somewhere introduced and that's what tipped her. Still, she pretended not to be his wife even when she slept with him.
By the end of the drama I found the FL so annoying I really wished this nice ML could find a nice and honest woman for himself. Funny how she's so offended at the beginning that he thinks she's manipulating him and his family for money, while in reality that's exactly what she does. It's sad that she never reflects on herself. She keeps lying to him about the most important things even in the last episode and then guilt trips him about it. I don't see how this couple can be happy in the future.
He doesn't need to know what she looks like to divorce her and that's all she wants with her. He was manipulated into the marriage, they even had the marriage certificate done for him. And he would find out she's his wife much earlier had she not lied to his face when asked about it.
No, no, no. The most pathological is the ML - he cheats on his wife (that he doesn't know), abuses drugged FL,…
But for a long time he didn't know she was married. She slept with him and flirted with him quite a bit before telling him. And then it was clear there was something off with her marriage.
I just watched ep 23 and I can't believe those who think the FL has no reason to be mad at the ML because she…
But she lied to his face when he asked about it, and even talked his own grandpa to lie to him about her identity. She did what she could to keep him from knowing the truth. She's got only herself to blame.
Honestly, me too. I think people tend to forget that the ml and the fl had such deep love for each other. They…
If she really wanted to sacrifice herself for him she wouldn't accept the deal from the agent in the first place. After all the ML lived in South Korea safe and unburdened by them. They had nothing on him as long as she wasn't willing to become their collaborator. The moment she shook the agent's hand she became a bait to blackmail the ML and she knew it.
I'm not saying she didn't love him, but she didn't do anything for him in the past. Once in South Korea, yes, she realises that she was selfish and how much she endangered him by conspiring against him and that it's not fair to him, esp. when she sees him with SFL and realises he could be safe and happy without her in his life. But up to that point there was zero sacrifice from her side, and after that it wasn't as much a sacrifice as taking responsibility for her own actions. So the deep love and sacrifices are one sided. Also, when she agreed to collaborate it was out of sheer selfishness. I don't blame her because the prison conditions were awful but it was just to improve her own situation.
What made the writing so bad for you? I'm genuinely curious what the mid-way drop-off is that people complain…
I think some fillers were quite boring. But the worst part is the FL. The story would be so much better if it turned out she wasn't the original FL and only a spy that substituted for her.
everyone who watched this show had the same exact thought
I see your point. However, if experience was that important people would never divorce. On the other hand, you say that FL sacrificed for ML. When did she?
I'm on ep 11 and honestly, I don’t see the chemistry between Dr Oh and Dr Park. I mean if anything it looks…
ML and SFL had more "moments" like when he went to the hospital to cheer her up and hug her but lied to FL about it, saying that he's home. Honestly, I think he was a very stubborn guy, and once he'd made up his mind that he'd marry FL at the beginning of the drama his mind never wavered. But I didn't see his heart in it. For one, time has passed, and it seemed like he was more invested in the FL that wasn't there than in the real person. Like when he keeps watching the video of FL in prison even when the she is in the room. It seemed like he felt closer to his vision of FL than the real thing. Another one was his attraction to SFL. It's what he said to SML, that sometimes he wishes FL was more like SFL. Men in love don't say things like that. He was taking care of FL, feeling guilty about her, and sacrificing for her but he wasn't that attracted to her. One more thing was their different values. Whenever it mattered each of them was ready to choose the opposite. It's like the two people had little in common after all.
It was very difficult to rate it. I liked the show in general, and most actors were great, but the romance was bad. It's not even the lack of chemistry, it's just that the FL isn't likeable. For the most part she's cold and silently angry or jealous, but even when she's supposed to be happy she comes off as fake. And yes, I know she's been through a lot, but I grew up in a communist country and, trust me, I've seen many things, but not such a badly acted character. Oh, and that actress really cannot smile. Her smiles are too fake. What an actress is that cannot pull off such a simple thing?
