Just like many other dramas that lose their spark in the second half, this one wasn’t an exception. After ep 20, the tone just became so flat and one-note. The female lead spent almost ten episodes crying, feeling sad, or just looking heartbroken. I get why she felt that way, but it reached a point where it got too much. The show started as something fun, heartwarming, and light, but watching her be perpetually miserable felt repetitive and emotionally exhausting.

And then the big revelation that he’s not actually her ancestor came out of nowhere. It honestly felt like even the writer was tired of dragging that plot and just wanted to wrap it up. My reaction was literally, “Wait, what the f-? That’s it? And this late?” They stretched that whole conflict for almost 10 episodes, only to reveal it like it was nothing.

Also… poor Lin Yan. I genuinely think the writer did him dirty. He lived his whole life waiting for her. First, he lost his parents, then his wife and her family. When he finally let go of his revenge and started to really live, he lost everything again and died still longing for her. Like, how can they do this to him?

Yes, they meet again in the modern world, but it came after years of pain and loneliness. That’s not a happy ending for me - it’s bittersweet at best. It really felt like the writer just wanted to stretch the emotional pain, both in the middle episodes and in the ending, so that when they finally got together, viewers would feel relief and forget how dragged it was.

And another thing that didn’t make sense - the whole family went through so much growth, only to forget everything when they returned. I mean, sure, they’re better people now, but what was the point of showing all that if they don’t even remember it? It just made the whole time-travel journey feel pointless.

And if Lin Yan also time-travelled, why didn’t he come back? Why make him suffer alone while everyone else got closure?

In the end, the show relied too much on sadness and unnecessary dragging. It could’ve been such a comforting, emotional drama if they had balanced the pacing and tone better. Nevertheless, the first 20 eps were genuinely good - funny, heartwarming, and engaging.

Though it ended on a happy note, it wasn’t a happy ending for me.
The drama honestly went downhill after ep 20-22. There were some nice moments here and there, but overall, they couldn’t make up for it. My thoughts are below — spoilers ahead!

you are right. i thought it to be based on food and a comforting series. the father and brother are annoying but bearable. so everything was going well. but even after ep 20 there has been no major character development in them, it's more like back and forth. father is arrogant about his success, and mother is good but gets angry often. and then getting to know they will forget everything once they are back is such a letdown. i thought since 10 eps are left, they all will get better, but even if they what would be the point?
about ml & fl, it's been 3-4 eps since they have been looking at eo with sadness and not much interaction b/w them. and this will go on till ep 30 !?!? what was the writer even thinking??
until ep 20, it was 10/10 for me, but now idk.

during Love’s Ambition express the eps were posted after 4-5 hrs +. so if it’s already late at night you should go to bed or else wait for some time. also, please use a spoiler tag when mentioning sites otherwise it can be taken down.

I’m still at episode 22, waiting for them to get together, but having read the spoiler of the ending and last three episodes, I am somewhat disappointed. Don’t know if I should continue watching it or not. Maybe I should skim through eps and watch it for LYR🫠

them falling in love is just so natural. it didn't happened suddenly but gradually throughout the eps that you wouldn't even question when they will confess. i hope you have a good watching!

exactly, it looks like they didn't had a foolproof plan and just went with what they think is right. either it's intentional by the writer or the script is sloppy.

The vibe that eps 1 and 2 had seems lost now.
Also, idk if it's the language barrier, but I don't find it funny rather annoying, especially Hyeji and Kang Seong-tae.

CZY never disappoints. He's such a great actor. Also, watching LQ for the first time and i would definitely look forward to her future works.
