please tell me the two leads get together and stay together, I love spoilers so I'm asking.
yes they get together and have a lot of cute moments together. But they also have a lot of misunderstanding as well...so its a rollercoaster of emotions if you're into that. The ending is bitter sweet, but more on the sad side. I cried buckets
No idea why the drama rating is so low, it was so good i binged it in 3 days. they also wrapped up it nicely and it didnt felt rushed. We have like a whole episode dedicated to the ending/how everyone is doing after which i find rare in cdramas.
I loved most of the characters here, especially prince 13 and 14. Unpopular opinion but I also really liked Ming Hui, I think she made a great antagonist :)
Note: Potential spoiler alert, but if you watched the first 15 minutes of the show you would already know this…
i guess you're new to Cdramas....it's been pretty common for cdramas to do this to avoid censorship issues. This is definitely not the only one and won't be the last. Because this is a norm nowadays, a lot of people just take the story within the story itself the actual story the director wanted to convey, and everything outside is for formality.
I have seen the end and it would be great if they don't shown it like FL's novel. I don't like when dramas end…
I think that a lot of directors would prefer not to frame their work as a novel or a dream if they had a choice. However, with the super strict censorship in China these days, it's almost impossible to get anything with supernatural or unrealistic elements approved for a distribution license without adding that as a disclaimer to clarify that "this isn't real."
So, with this drama, as well as other dramas (because we're most likely going to see this as a trend in many dramas going forward until they remove that dumb rule), I like to think that the novel/dream part is the actual story that the directors and writers want to convey, and everything else is just......a creative workaround for formality purposes
still undecided whether to watch this or not.. looking for fellow xianxia watchers! please share your xianxias…
It's hard to rank since it's very different from the typical xian xia we're used to. - It has a lot of comical elements - The romance is a slow burn - The ending style also deviates from the typical xian xia
Overall I enjoyed this a lot and I would say watch it and judge it yourself :)
i love that the ending wasn't your typical xian xia ending! Also the love story between Liu Yu and Feng Lai was so heartbreaking, couldnt stop crying T_T. He's so cuteeeee
i also liked how the ending wasn't rushed, we actually got like ~20 mins of all the couples being together, and the whole friend group hanging out having fun, as well as the typical wrap up just to pass censorship. This drama was well worth the ride!
