This is why I think he keeps doing the contracts or deals with her too. I don't think he intends to actually collect on them, but he knows if he made it too easy for her, she wouldn't be willing to come to him or trust him.
I really wish we got a scene of her telling him about her coworker sabotaging her work. I mean, at some point he was bound to ask her what happened after he got to know her and realized she wasn't one to sabotage a news segment.

A lot of changes were made from the book, for the drama. But Le was just the local gang leader who worked out of the pool hall and had a reputation so WQ sought him out when he was a child, hoping he would give him a job at the pool hall. He didn't really become part of the gang, until he dropped out of school to pay bills. And Lin the doctor ran the local clinic and was paid to look the other way. That's how WQ met them....and in the book SP and Lili weren't together, so I think its a bit confusing.

It really could have been 24 episodes, if they stuck to the plot of the actual novel. Most of the plot is still there, but there was about 6-7 episodes of added content. Still love this drama though.
