rewatching with my mom. In episode 15 where they are listening to the scholar tell about how he abandoned the 3rd aunt. I just caught on that when YS envisioned Niao Niao getting married to someone else… it was Ling Buyi he saw…. indicating he must have already been aware on some level… that LB had feelings for her.

I'm not talking about that, but they keep bringing up her change in 'temperment'. She doesn't run around and play anymore, she isn't a lively kid anyone. Her personality is different...... like yeah, she is no longer an 8 year old child....even if it was the real JL that came back, she would no longer be a lively, care-free child, but a woman who spent 10 years in an extremely abusive enviroment. Nothing XFF says as JL to the people around her is wrong about how JL lived for 10 years.

I know they were in the novel, but I’m saying I can see them changing that for the drama.

I also think that the reason it takes so long for him to accept and acknowledge that XFF is JL....is because, ultimately, he knows him turning a blind eye to what JS was and what she was doing, is what lead to the death of his daughter.
