Well, I think Chinese censorship will have something to say to that XD
Given some of the clips we've seen, it looks like we get some version of the three scenes in the book that escalated beyond just kissing, but definitely a toned down version of it.
There's a scene in the books when DJX buys beer, book reader's know the scene. I really hope they change it. One beer or even two, I'm okay with...but it was described as him having several empty beer cans around him. I'm actually hoping its changed to him buying it, taking a swig or two, then dumping them all down the drain. I know he said he wasn't drunk, but for someone who never drank before, I don't buy that he could drink several beers and not be drunk.
When I read the book, I actually thought the author might have wrote her as having ADHD. ADHD do have a lot of overlapping symptoms. But I try not to put labels on characters when the author doesn't expressly state something as fact. It might also be worth noting that DJX isn't the only one of her brothers friends she spends time with in the book. She and Quan Fei would actually meet up for meals occasionally without her brother and was invited to his wedding because he viewed her as a friend.
So dumb. Either they don’t know what pedophile means or they’re just looking for any excuse to bash this amazing…
I really think people are just not looking at the full picture. Yes DJX cared about her, and I think he viewed her as someone very important in his life even when she was 17, but he didn't view her through a romantic lense. DJX is also a person who is genuinely good, who goes out of his way to treat everyone nicely. In the book, we get his inner thoughts where he thinks about how he learned to never defend himself and lets everyone walk all of over him because most people he grew up around believed he deserved to pay for the sins of his father. We also know that he borrowed money from her parents at one point, and he admits that because of that he was especially nice to them. So people need to consider what his motives for being nice to her were. He wasn't trying to get into her pants when she was 14 or 17, he was just trying to be nice to her, and he felt he owed the family. But during all that he did end up caring about her as if she were family.
Anyone else noticing that the timeline doesn't work? She is supposed to be 17 when they meet for the second time. Where their arc lasts for at least a few months if not several months, before she gives up on him. Then they meet 2 years later.....and she is 18, because she celebrates her 19th birthday after being in Yihe for several months.
Episode 16: I really detest 'testing' partners or potential partners in a relationship. I'm glad her other friend spoke up and said testing a potential partner is a bad idea that it could backfire.
just finished episode 15. I love that, even though she initially said she didn't have feelings for him and you can see that in that moment he felt gutted, the moment she said 'you should still woo me though, so I can decide if I have feelings' ... You can tell that he understood that she did have feelings for him but just wasn't ready to admit to that he was her crush. I'm really glad he understood that. I also love how they tease each other. She thinks he is like that with everyone, but he actually isn't.
