Please don't hate me for this comment because I am confused: so I encouraged my younger sister to watch this show…
DJX isn't into her until she is at university. Given his past, he just genuinely tries to be nice to everyone and given how nice her parents have been to him and the fact that Sang Yan is his best friend, he tries extra hard to be nice to the family as a whole. Now, I do think he genuinely cares about her and views her as important to him when she is younger. But not romantically.
Theres a major debate on when DJX first realize he was falling for Sang Zhi.For me the scene where she was wiping…
In the show I think the hospital is when things started shifting for him, but it wasn't until NYE that he realized how his feelings changed. In the book, I think his thoughts started shifting as soon as he saw her again outside the bar because one of the first thoughts he has about her is to notice 'her great body and great legs.' But I still think it took till the restaurant scene to realize that his feelings shifted.
In the novel, DJX started to look at SZ differently after she defended him from JY. When SZ was wiping the water…
I would argue his thoughts started shifting as soon as he saw her again outside the bar because in the book one of the first thing he notices about her is 'her great body and great legs.' But I think it took till the restaurant scene to realize that his feelings shifted.
Well, I think Chinese censorship will have something to say to that XD
Given some of the clips we've seen, it looks like we get some version of the three scenes in the book that escalated beyond just kissing, but definitely a toned down version of it.
There's a scene in the books when DJX buys beer, book reader's know the scene. I really hope they change it. One beer or even two, I'm okay with...but it was described as him having several empty beer cans around him. I'm actually hoping its changed to him buying it, taking a swig or two, then dumping them all down the drain. I know he said he wasn't drunk, but for someone who never drank before, I don't buy that he could drink several beers and not be drunk.
When I read the book, I actually thought the author might have wrote her as having ADHD. ADHD do have a lot of overlapping symptoms. But I try not to put labels on characters when the author doesn't expressly state something as fact. It might also be worth noting that DJX isn't the only one of her brothers friends she spends time with in the book. She and Quan Fei would actually meet up for meals occasionally without her brother and was invited to his wedding because he viewed her as a friend.
So dumb. Either they don’t know what pedophile means or they’re just looking for any excuse to bash this amazing…
I really think people are just not looking at the full picture. Yes DJX cared about her, and I think he viewed her as someone very important in his life even when she was 17, but he didn't view her through a romantic lense. DJX is also a person who is genuinely good, who goes out of his way to treat everyone nicely. In the book, we get his inner thoughts where he thinks about how he learned to never defend himself and lets everyone walk all of over him because most people he grew up around believed he deserved to pay for the sins of his father. We also know that he borrowed money from her parents at one point, and he admits that because of that he was especially nice to them. So people need to consider what his motives for being nice to her were. He wasn't trying to get into her pants when she was 14 or 17, he was just trying to be nice to her, and he felt he owed the family. But during all that he did end up caring about her as if she were family.
