Yeah that’s what I did with first frost. Skipped all the second leads’ and grandparents’ storylines. Didn’t impact my understanding of the plot at all, which makes me think the screenwriter got forced to make more episodes than necessary but wanted the audience to be able to skip them too 😂

Haha yeah they remind me of characters straight out of a manhua! Idk if you saw photos of their real life “street style”, but man the casting ppl did a good job. I’m pretty sure both actors used some of their own clothes (or kept some clothes from the set, or both).

It’s jut uncomfortable all around for everyone — the actress wants to be more “pure”, the actor needs to maintain boundaries to not get cancelled, the audience is left grasping for straws on the chemistry front

Yeah I’ve been thinking this exact train of thought every time I read a criticism on the FL combined with praise for chemistry. But I didn’t say much cuz I’m conflict avoidant

I’m not sure if this is appropriate to say, but their aesthetic chemistry is also top notch. Esther is super feminine (slender but curvy, her facial features are very softly harmonious?) while He Yu is probably one of the most masculine looking guys in c-ent (broad shoulders, works out, sharp but non exaggerated features). Ngl I’ve been anticipating the chemistry ever since I saw the leads casted haha

They brought up a couple actresses I despise watching LOL. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinions so it is what it is ~

I just don’t see who else would’ve been a better fit for Jiang Mu haha. It’s tough to act like a 20 year old when you’re 30, but I much rather have this than casting an actress in her late teens / early twenties 🥴

Do I think Jiang Mu’s Thailand scenes are a bit exaggerated at times? Yes. But I think the payoff in her emotional scenes in Nanjing are worth it

Esther x Dylan was my first and last ship between real life actors lol. I’ve learned my lesson.
