Episodes 13-14 - Staying true to the story; I liked the small changes from the novel, like how they eliminated the servants they hire, the self-care note, and the small female empowerment speeches they throw in every so often. CL/ZJ is lethal in his flirting; its throwing HY off rhythm completely! Really felt for little HY that she had no love in her family at all..her mother was helpless and the fact that she was craving for approval from her father and never got it. The drunk scene had more meaning than just her being drunk..its only when she loses her senses is she in her "true vulnerable state" otherwise it is a facade, a tough facade that XJ should and will break through soon enough.
I cannot stand her getting drunk. It is overkill. Three times already. Du Du or whatever the hell is freaking…
This will be the last time I promise, that she gets drunk :). Its following the book..and hopefully they will relate it back to when he figures out her back story, like how they did in the novel.
Some posts are saying tragic Couple made appearance today Why are they tragic spoiler please
This is Mu Hongjin and He Yan's master Liu buyang. They were sweethearts in their younger lives, but because she was a princess, she had to marry up and could not be with him. Unrequited love and unfortunately ends up in further tragedy with the Jiyang battle.
I finished Ep.9 and why did they get my head turning like that when he casually said, Miss He? 😲 but why did…
She was actually exactly like this in the novel. They downplayed it in the show; he actually slices open her outer layers of clothing and only has a thin layer on in the novel...despite that she was non-chalant and didnt care that he knew.
OMG Episode 12 was just amazing, the fight sequence with the whip was so well executed!!!! It is also exactly like how I imagined it from the novel..so well done makers and well done action choreographer + ZY !! Cant wait for more episodes to drop!
Saw the leads promoting the drama in a variety show (which I believe they filmed before the drama aired): https://youtu.be/VMQJgSndvIU?si=cxXobVoE3jnTHJ0_It…
They were talking about the last scene they filmed, does not mean that is the last scene in the drama since they can shoot out of order..
Holy moly, episode 9 was amazing!!!!!!! It was also very true to the novel, which I am so thrilled about! The fight sequence, ZY's expressions and instant switches to speaking with Xiao Jue were so well done! I also liked how they changed slightly how XJ confronts her about her identity! Cant wait for more, its just getting better and better! I cannot imagine anyone other than ZY playing this role, she is nailing it!
ZY is really nailing those fight sequences, she does not look weak, she totally looks like she can fight anybody even with bare hands, her posture, gait are terrific! Great job to the training team and of course our lovely ZY!
she's different on the battlefield and her enemies, we're not there yet. idk what type of general you are expecting…
Her character and the way ZY is playing her is exactly how the author intended for her to be. She is silly, unusually cheerful for everything she has gone through, but incredibly tough when she needs to be. There is a scene in the novel where the doctor is flabbergasted about how she can bear so much pain and have no many injuries and yet be unfazed. You will see this sequence next after this Cheng Lisu pretense.
Loving it so far! The only thing that felt a little out of place for me was the sword dance, while beautifully executed by ZY, didnt do much for the storyline for me at least. The eye candy and impending triangle was very obvious though, so thats good! The fight choreo is very very good - specially the one with the whip!
I think the length of the episodes should increase once she starts to pretend to be Cheng Lisu, then the Jiyang arc and then Rundu, since he does not feature in those parts.
I just want and wish the best for ZY and CL! You can tell how hard they have worked in the drama, from the stunts, to the martial arts to braving the cold! I'm partial to ZY anyway!
One thing is confusing me since they deviated from the novel. Why is Qinglang with Xiao Jue or rather why did the adaptation choose to do that? Qinglang is a major major scene later..so intrigued to know how they will evolve it!
Zhang Kangle the actor playing Chu Zhao is very good looking and has great screen presence. When he was on screen with He Rufei, you cant look away! Great casting for that role and his microexpressions were great as well!
I am reading this like 9th and actually thought,I wish I could read her back story - throughout the novel there…
Oh agreed; the details that could have been made into its own 20 episodes! A lost you forever style drama that did 2 seasons with about 35-36 episodes was the only was to do justice to this.
It started soooo good; ive read the novel multiple times and I can still say that this pivot and speed is fine. To capture her entire backstory would have taken at least 6-7 episodes if not more.
The fight choreo is very very good - specially the one with the whip!
