finally finished -- the little note before the final credits 😭 overall a very sweet romance- i got a little worried during the last 4 episodes but it worked out and wrapped up nicely.

did they say it was re-edited? the editing in the clip in the tweet doesn't seem any different than i remember for that scene

so like is there actually action and racing or is the whole car thing a metaphor? 😅 the genre says action & romance but the synopsis and the non spoilerly larger synopsis in that forum post don't mention racing at all. they just mention ML has some shit going on(??)

The fancasts are cute although I feel like the Korean and Chinese castings for Oushi don't work for me visually. I'm not sure who I would pick, but just face wise the Japanese pick is what I would envision.

I think if someone were really to adapt the manga (usually adaptations are from the original source material- so technically the manga in this case) they should really focus on finding an actress who is actually deaf rather than focusing on star power for that role.

Though just for fancasts I think these picks are cute visually. Especially Tian Xiwei, but mostly because I just really like Tian Xiwei lol

Some people mentioned saying a drama would be too long and they might add unnecessary scenes, but since the manga is more than double the content of the anime and still ongoing, they have more to adapt. A movie would be too short imo unless they really cut a lot.
And actually, I think a kdrama or cdrama would be able to maybe things a little more slown burn which I wouldn't mind.

but basically she just calls her dad by his job title (english teacher) and her mom i think by her family title(a little unclear on that) and they call her miss shen. i think its just a cute thing they do kinda like nicknames. i wish this series had been on viki bc usually viki subs will give little translator notes for things like this. iqiyi subs are fine mostly but sometimes lacking in providing context for things like this

I think it's gotten a bit better in ep 5&6 or at least less jarring, but the directing/cinematography/editing/color grading/etc leave a lot to be desired imo. the characters are likeable and the story is still fine, but it almost feels like a low budget short length drama sometimes with the way its edited

damn. Jiang Nanfeng (Wei Zhi's friend) is harsh. obv she doesn't know he knows her (??) but even w/o that if you hook up with someone you should set expectations... or at least make things clear with an actual conversation when it was obvious he was catching feelings.

altho it wasn't really clear - maybe they had a fight or misunderstanding? bc he was going to say in the text message "can you give me another chance" implying he did something wrong. if something did happen then her behavior would be more understandable 🤔 its hard to say atm...

But I think by "small IP" they just mean the original IP (in this case a webnovel) is not super popular. But I The First Frost is also a modern drama and from what I understand that novel is super popular. So I think it just depends. Of course a popular IP is more likely to get a big budget adaptation, but if a company & producer sees potential in a less well known one they can go gor it.

I imagine it also depends on the original author and/or publisher. Maybe some sell at thr first offer, and those end up being the cheaper short legnth dramas

The first four eps were fun and light. Sometimes the editing feels strange and some scenes feel abrupt, and the color grading is a little bland, but still enjoying the story and characters so far

IP stands for Intellectual Property, its a term used to describe any individual story, game, series, movie. A movie with multiple sequels for example would still be one IP.

Finally finished. I gave it a 6.5 it had some good moments and wasn't completely unwatchable- but it also had a lot of dull moments and i found it difficult to get attached to most of the side characters. the narrative definitely wanted you to care about them, but most were never given any screentime that felt meaningful.

the lead actors are fine here, but i think their dynamic and acting is way better in their newer drama Flouished Peony

I guess Snowboarding Into Love wasn't as snappy of a title?

bro this is a double whammy of high stakes misunderstandings 😭 she thinks he killed her mom... girl think logically if he did kill a hostage for the sake of catching a criminal, is he the type to cover it up? of course he feels guilty bc he thinks the pirate killed her mom because he failed to catch the pirate sooner. and now, bc she distrusts him she is wary of him just in time for HIM to misunderstand that she is having an affair with SML 😭😭 i can't help but watch on high speed bc this type of misunderstanding is so hard to watch

Just started watching this on a whim, I'm currently watching with Viki subtitles and I'm perplexed as to why the translater(s) decided to write the servant's name as Amber in English 😅 i'm fine with that for fantasy settings (admittedly it does make it easier to remember character names), but it's a bit immersion breaking for a historical setting drama.

Binge watched up to ep 31 and was decently engaged, but everything after has been such a slog to get through. Maybe my attention span is the problem. I could just drop it, but at this point I've almost finished it so I want to see how it ends
