The director and the actors introduced this show as 20% thriller and 80% melodrama. The creators of the Philippine adaptation also talked with the drama creators and the drama creators said that the love story is at the core of this show. So yeah, this drama has love story but especially in the early episodes, you watch this show and thinking it's more like thriller/crime detective drama.

he just copies the voice of the actors too well. i've seen song joong ki, jo han chul, yoon je moon at least in 3 dramas and I'm most familiar with the voices among reborn rich actors, the youtuber imitates them too well.
Second this! Off the top of my head, only Moon Chae-won and Shin Min-a (this one was 10 years ago...) came close.
There was Han Hyo Joo too but she was not yet a top actress when she acted with him. Shining Inheritance and Dongyi happened after their drama together (Iljimae).
Male leads: Yoon Hyun Min, Yeon Woo Jin , Na In Woo, Yoon Kyun Sang, Go Kyung Pyo, If he needs to be a bigger name than her: Kim Nam Gil, Ji Chang Wook, Yoo Ah In, Jang Hyuk, Jo In Sung, Byun Yo Han
he's too busy with movies. He has Hwaran and Ro Ki Wan and Bogota all lined up. I want this drama to air very…
Yeah, I want her to pick female centric drama. Her name is announced first here, who knows this might be a female centric show. Or it could be a romance drama too but her character is more important than the male lead. SJK is a bigger name, quite impossible for her to stand out (popularitywise) if he's in this show as more people will watch for him. Innocent Man was a male centric drama from the beginning. SJK is the sole male lead while he has two female leads. In fact the teasers dont show Chaewon as much as SJK and Park Shi Yeon. I just dont want her to have more haters (which I'm sure she'll have tons since she creates chemistry with all her partners and SJK has very popular ships) which is why I'm too wary of a reunion. LJG is also her recent male lead, there's already a discord between his fans and SJK fans (due to Arthdal Chronicles recasting), she might get caught in that too. Plus on a personal note I dont want Innocent Man to overshadow in popularity all her old dramas. Sorry if it appears too sensitive. PS: I love SJK, he's one of my faves, but I think if they should reunite, maybe not very soon. If he's in here though (which I doubt) I will still watch since I'm also his fan
SJK said he wants to do romance drama next... this looks like it and will be a reunion with MCW
he's too busy with movies. He has Hwaran and Ro Ki Wan and Bogota all lined up. I want this drama to air very soon (later in 2023) plus I want Chae Won to be the main main character in this show, so I'd rather she have a male lead where she can be the lead billed name (showing this drama is centered on female lead). I like SJK, but I wish Chae won would be known for more dramas than just being his leading lady, she really needs a really popular work where he is not the male lead.
I really pity the real Ri Moon Sung, wish he can be with grandma. But at the same time,I don't want grandma to cut relationship with Jae heon and Yoon Hee
1)is there love triangle2)when do leads will be together3)is there any breakup? if there till how many eps?4)HAPPY…
1. None ==> the second male lead has a few scenes with female lead that makes some people think there might be a one sided love, but as more you watch the series, it's more like him and the female lead are competing for the king's attention. second male lead want's male lead's praises after all thing's his done for him but male lead is grateful for the female lead more (who herself did things to help male lead as well) 2. This is based on the real love story of King Yisan and his palace maid. Male lead has been desiring the female lead since the early episodes, female lead loves him back, but seeing as she is only a palace maid with little rights compared to the king, she is often declining him. She values what little freedom she has (time with her palace maid friends who are her equals/etc). They got together in the last two episodes but the female lead is not exactly happy since as a concubine she can no longer leave the palace (when she was just a palace maid she can leave on her day off). That being said, she loves the male lead enough to accept his request to be his concubine since she can't bear not seeing him again. You'll understand more as you watch the show. 3. The female lead left the palace for about 2 episodes before she became his concubine. That's the closest to a breakup they have (since they're not an official couple til the last 2 episodes though they have few kissing scenes and romantic moments before that). 4. Historically the female lead died just 6 years after becoming king's concubine. All their children died too. However, this drama's ending is interesting. We see the male lead dying and then he wakes up in the lap of the female lead (shown in a very similar way to how he was with her when she was alive as a concubine in the previous episode. Then he was about to leave her place but decided to not leave and instead kisses her. Koreans interpret this ending as the male lead choosing to be dead to be with the female lead in heaven. But some international fans who can't accept sad ending think the male lead was just dreaming (of the death of the female lead and the sad lonely life he had after she died) and that the female lead was actually with him all the time. ===> So whether this drama is happy or sad ending depends on you. You can think it's sad since the female lead died way before the male lead and all their children died too. But if you think the female lead's death is just a dream, then it can be happy. Or you can also think of the male and female lead being together in death (as interpreted by Koreans on the ending) as a happy ending. Sorry for the long reply but it's kinda complicated to explain. You'll understand if you watch the drama.
Oh this is interesting, cause my personal opinion is the total opposite from yours. Back here after my 3rd time…
people should imagine themselves in the female lead's situation. evem though she's a detective, her personal life is already involved, her world crashing down, very normal for her to cry. even if she's crying, she try her best to hide it from her coworkers. she is strong in her own way, a woman crying doesn't equate to weakness.

Episode 15, they killed General Choi too.
