I understand DOTS, Goblin and Vincenzo fitting the subject but how did BOF and Love Alarm make the top with a…
Actually, most kdramas that aired before 2010 have low ratings. I think Boys over flowers deserves the top because of all the many many dramas in the 2000s, why is it this one that gained too much international attention?
Moon Lovers is good (which is why I didn't list it in the dramas that I hate), but what makes me annoyed sometimes is how people always reference this drama when it comes to sad sageuk endings. As someone who watched many historical dramas before it was popular to do so by the average kdrama fan (I remember before Moon Embracing the Sun era most people would dismiss sageuks as boring) there are some historical dramas with way sadder and worst endings. Here are some examples (these are spoilers as me mentioning them means people should know these dramas are too tragic): Damo, Emperor of the Sea, Tree with Deep Roots. It's also far from the best historical drama (some of the upbeat kpop songs just dont really fit in the show, the irony is that IU herself has sang a song that fits a sageuk in Queen Seon Deok, in my opinion if there was any idol who could have sung for the drama it should be IU singing a sentimental song for Moon Lovers).
Okay, I know nothing how Korean monarchy worked, but why can't Lee Hwi just kill her grandfather? What's stopping…
her grandpa has more supporters, she can still technically do what she wants but it will lead to rebellion. Search about real life Joseon King Yeonsangun, he did whatever he wanted and look what happened to him.
I'll watch this one, gonna be my first time watching Lee Joon Gi drama while airing. First saw him in Flower of Evil last year and have already watched almost all his filmography. I think his fans should watch Time Between Dog and Wolf, the action scenes here (from the trailer) remind me of that one.
I'm a fan of her nearly a decade and I can honestly said that The Princess' Man is her best role to date. Well,…
....which is truly unfair. I don't see anything wrong with her acting in Flower of Evil, yet some people who watch it even thinks she's not a good actress.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qFG_Wg8W_k This is the marriage proposal in YiSan kdrama (2007) where Seong Deok Im (she's named Seong Song Yeon in the drama) accepted King Yi San's love. Just wondering how will it be in this drama.
It's hard to disobey a father's order in Joseon dynasty, plus add the fact she actually likes the man, it's better…
I especially pity the Queen, she doesn't know what she's gotten into especially as divorce is difficult in Confucian Korea. I'm actually more interested in how will the drama resolve her situation than the main romance (I'm secretly hoping she'll be able to marry one of Lee Hwi's other male friends, the warrior guy is most possible).
It's hard to disobey a father's order in Joseon dynasty, plus add the fact she actually likes the man, it's better…
From what I understand, the father was concerned with Jung's intentions as to why he would want his daughter married to Jung's son. From watching historical dramas (ex: Moon Embracing the Sun), a young woman who is so close to becoming Queen after participating in a competition to become Queen is usually not really desirable for marriage. Shin So Eun was so close to become Queen in the competition. This is why her father is concerned, he might not want his daughter to be used to Jung's political plans or whatever (why else would Jung choose his daughter of all people for Jung's son to marry). So Eun not being the most desirable bride actually makes her wanting this marriage more understandable, despite the fact that she throwing herself at a man that doesn't love her can be off putting, but i do really understand why she wants the marriage given all the circumstances I explained above. At least that's how I see it. It's not like she knew Lee Hwi is a woman either.
whats with women throwing themselves at men that dont love them ? I respect the queen this episode she already…
It's hard to disobey a father's order in Joseon dynasty, plus add the fact she actually likes the man, it's better for her to marry someone she likes than someone who she has no feelings with and doesn't love her at the same time.
After watching Vincenzo, as well as rewatching Innocent Man and Descendants of the Sun, I can still safely say that this is the drama that requires the most of Song Joong Ki acting skills and this is also where he impresses the most. The irony that Song Joong Ki has so many awards but not even a nomination for Arthdal Chronicles, his best acted role.
Show is very dark but funny at the same time. Actors were very entertaining. Song Joong Ki is really impressive and so is Ok Taecyeon as the villain (this is the second time I'm impressed with idol's acting, first is with his fellow 2pm member Junho in the Red Sleeve). I can't explain it, but I feel like there's something missing in the plot plus the drama is not fast paced which is why I can't gicve it a score of 9 or higher. Therefor my final verdict is 8.5 (real score is 8.3 but I can't give that rating here in mydramalist). PS: I have watched all of Song Joong Ki's dramas where he is the lead actor, and I noticed that he has more evil main characters than characters that are completely good. We have among the evil/dark characters: Vincenzo here, Saya in Arthdal Chronicles, Kang Maru in Innocent Man. While the ones that are completely good are: Eunseom in Arthdal Chronicles and Yoo Shi Jin in Descendants of the Sun.
I'm very new to this drama, can someone explain what her life will be like as a concubine? Can he take other concubines…
A concubine is never an official wife but she is respected. Concubines have different ranks, usually the ones who became concubine first have higher ranks. However, a junior concubine can get a much higher rank than a senior concubine is she bore a child first (especially if oldest son, aka heir to the throne). During King Sukjong's (father of Yisan's grandpa) reign and before, if a Queen dies or deposed, a concubine can become Queen. However, there's too much drama between the Queen and the concubines during King Sukjong era. To give context on what happened on Sukjong's reign: an ambitious concubine caused the queen to be deposed before she is called back as queen, then queen died due to concubine's schemes, leading to that concubine being sentenced to death, not to mention that same concubine was also scheming and planning bad things against a junior concubine (mom of Yi San's grandpa) of humble background who was the woman the king loved among all. It was because of all these drama that a concubine can no longer be a queen. This explains why the King has a very young Queen here. This means that Yi San's grandma was a concubine long before the Queen here married Yi San's grandpa king.
King Jeongjo reigned after King Sukjong, so there must be someone who become the queen since King Sukjong made…
He didnt reign after Sukjong. After Sukjong, the crown came to his older son (son of Jang Hee Bin). That older son didn't live long this Sukjong's younger son (aka Dong Yi's son aka King Yeongjo aka the grandpa king here) became king. King Jeongjo/Yisan became king after that.
