Well I learned it the hard way bc I had NO CLUE about this and then... some "prince" noticed me and his "harem" tried to destroy me.... so now I am passing this onto you so that you never experience this. The deep root cause of this is SEXISM, societal brainwashing, women's belief - and often real life necessity - to hook up to a male and thus gain status and privileges in the world - bc a sole woman canNOT do anything, only men have power. WOMEN WHO DESTROY OTHER WOMEN BELIEVE IN THAT and keep propagating partiarchy

Cant forget that :) this is a historical drama so 4th evil is really trying to get hold of power.... and her only power is through king's bed...
and this plays in REAL LIFE TODAY esp if the guy is somehow desirable - the boss, the rich, the popular, etc... or she just likes him... there are sooo many women who will DESTROY their competitor asap.... and if you are the woman "tresspassing" or a male having a new interest, you HAVE to be aware of the swarm of killer bees coming onto the new interest.
Men dont do really do this to other men so much... but sooo many women are VICIOUS ... bc I think they are more desperate, hanging onto that "one" guy who is theirs, their ONLY ticket to something better... women tend to feel more powerless and dependent on men...
. I think men are like - oh she has someone new - so I will find someone new. And a woman tends to think - oh he has someone new - I am gonna KILL her

technical observation: this drama awfully looks like an ad for the catholic church and many polluting things... how come almost all new kdrama have those kinds of "ads"? someone is trying really hard... to hog the screen time with THEIR stuff....

this drama is also a sharp political commentary on the current state of affairs....
and reminds me of 2018 kdrama My Secret Terrius that had scenes from a viral pandemic global outbreak.
And our FL is more beautiful than ever and acting strong. Brava.
Also, I like the unusual ML with sad eyes and visibly no plastic surgery, thin lips and all.

Oh I see now he has a drama about Hawaii Five-0.... Hawaii had a gang called Company that was taken by a ... some kind of policeman... and they killed his son, so he really got them... BUT I think some other gang quickly took over bc Hawaii is a complete complete complete LAWLESS MESS nobody enforces law in Hawaii

and you can easily lose your house your condo, etc they steal homes via rigged lawsuits, attorneys and judges cooperate

If outsiders see kdramas as cash cow, they are gonna step in to take the profits and they will try to make more profits and WILL pollute kdramas.. I want Kocowa and other locals to have the impact and do the real thing and rake in local money, not some outsiders doing their thing and taking the money out and away with them

If the western style media with flashy content, "special" topics on "special" people takes over, if the stupidly dumb Chinese shorts take over, and If Kocowa and other local stations lose money, and Viki is already owned by Japanese..... Will Koreans be able to make what they want to make, or will they try to appease the $$$$$ audiences.... ? That is the question that will be answered ... this year?? as the pivotal year if kdramas as we know them live or go extinct

kdramas are known for showing ordinary people doing the best in their lives to move on forward, in certain warmth, humor, good lifestyle habits (minus the awful driking and blatant sexism of looser clutzy FLs), .... thy show good family and personal relationships, working things out in partnership. If those values are sacrificed for the sake of $$$$$$$$ and thus forcing us to watch squid games and zombies and fancy assassins and bombs and car chases and some s e x and special effects without any character development, any meaningful conversations, any relatable characters, then... the kdramas would become the same old as the trash from the west and would DIE. Right now the outsiders can use the freshness of the ktouch to make dramas that are swooning away from kdrama concepts and are still kdrama fun to be watchable... but one day it will just tip over to totally being not kdrama flavor. And so then we look for another good place to watch.... who would it be.?

So far, Kdramas are most creative and sophisticated, so FUN in a very light yet serious way, very deep, and POSITIVE AND PRODUCTIVE AND in their storytelling, so I really hope they keep their art to the best. I think bc of Buddhism and there must be other factors, they just have what others do not have. A certain ELEGANCE AND LIGHTNESS for very deep things.

BTW I think you need to write reviews or at least profile characters bc you are really perceptive from many different angles and very compassionate and fair in your analysis, so you can help many ppl see things that they did not notice. Just some food for thought.

Also you are perfect as a social worker type - but I do not think you should do that job as it is sbrutally demanding and destroys people :) I think you would be suitable for a more rewarding version of it -
like a well paid psychotherapist, psychiatrist, advisor, mentor, organizer, etc

Exactly!!!! I had the same thoughts.... That;s why I thought he was really slimey liar and it made sense he was a pair with SR, both are political like that.
Later I realized that he made sure to check things for himself without jumping first into siding with either side. So once he checked for himself, he joined JI side.

he is careful. He is an art dealer for $$$$$ art so he deals with all kinds of shady fickle egoistical ppl and rich powerful ppl who can harm him and so he HAS to be super careful and diplomatic and stay neutral...

As a good single dad - is he suitable bc he is that kind of PERSON IN GLOVES... to raise a kid, he has to totally go open and free and drop any gloves... ... Also he works a lot and travels...
but he has a flexible schedule and perhaps can take the kid around too...

I am not sure what parts SukJa lied about and what parts she did not... Seems like they WERE poor and perhaps NaRa was starving when she snuck in to get some food .... but even IF she barely made it out with NaRa, she STILL could have called the fire department... So I would say that SukJa intentionally didnt call the fire department or ambulance....

As for Tae Ho - yeah he is gray diplomatic and on the verge of slimey and perhaps he is a better partner for cheabol and Designer L arrogant and somewhat gray and slimey Jae In...

Perhaps Do Yoon served his part as the good guy healer who picked JaeIn up from the curb when she was homeless and beat up... He is a doctor, after all LOL

and now she outgrew him as she goes back into the VERY gray world of the rich and money :)

She and Tae Ha can make quite a empire with her YL and his art dealing...

Would they be happy.... ? Somehow Tae Ha does not strike me as a guy who is unconditionally loyal and openly loving like our puppy DY. I think TH would bail out when it gets rough, to be honest. Also, all his dealings in art... he must have a lot of secrets and deals... I do NOT believe that he COULD be honest :) He is perfect as a boyfriend for having fun but as a lifelong husband .... hm....

Our puppy DY is a solid husband for sure for the rest of the life...

I think mainstream movies need to include everyone instead of spreading racial prejudice.

yeah ep 68 has an amazing scene with him and his mom where he talks about it.... .... as GC's hard core shell cracks, the actor's acting of the emotional and overal breakdown is AMAZING ... also scene in doctor's office

he didnt follow GC in the driving away with JI incident BC BO RAM WAS THERE AND DY COULD NOT LEAVE THE KID TO CHASE GC.... So DY behaved as a responsible guy as always.
He trusted that JI could handle it since she willingly left with GC.

Yes, I totally agree!!! As you said, GC speech to his mother makes us feel compassion for him. He is complex.

Do Yoon is simple... bc he is a good guy.
Do Yoon's simplicity and just WARMTH was useful when JI was on the street and licking her wounds.... He and his family were healing for her.

I think he will always be healing for her bc once all this is over, she will be a big chaebol hot potato and designer, dealing with deadlines, scandals, traps, competition, politicking and cheating, mean people, etc etc etc and a simple loyal 10000% loving husband who is on the lookout for her and doing a lot of the leg work might be a good balance.

He still helps JI, it is not like she just protects him now. He did all kinds of digging on all kinds of stuff. It is just not glorious.... and not on the screen much....

Tae Ho is listed on MDL cast page. Your post made me think Tae Ho or Tae Oh or even Tae O are correct romanizations of what it sounds like, bc it sounds like Tae O, the "h" is silent. That's what I could phantom from listening to Korean and reading the subtitles LOL and yeah it is natural he converted it to Theo but .. TaeO and Theo are different LOL

Since Tae Ho is Korean-American - or is he Korean who immigrated? What is he really? Anyways, I would like to mention another actor who was born in Korea and made it in Hollywood and is now debuting in Tempest - JOHN CHO.

About John Cho: he is in the classic comedy Harold and Kumar go to White Castle where two 2nd gen Asian and Indian get high on pot, like white ppl do, and cause trouble. Cho gave interviews saying that in real life he doesnt do pot.

He just has to accept ANY role they give him bc he gets so few, since Asian actors are very rare in american movies and series. In other words, there is a severe racial discrimination in the USA and it shows in the media and entertainment big time.
