There are just too many "magically good endings" that do NOT have to be good endings in real life. THIS SERIES IS LIKE A CARTOON IN THAT WAY, characters are "jumping off clifs" without any physical consequences. By now, they should have quite a few bones broken and damages to their brains, internal organs and soft tissue, and a few teeth missing.

The murderer is a great actor, how he transformed from a meek old man to a bloody killer. Wow great acting skills.

The very last cliffhanger is great, yea it really leaves the door WIDE OPEN for the season 2.

And the clues were done well - the doctor is wearing a dark lipstick and from the very first scene where he shows up as a "legitimate doctor", he looks strange and suspicious

I dont think GS still communes with her ex but is just using "his" bubble space as a safety net, and UNWILLING to step out there again and intereact with the Chairman, who is overly pushy and inconsiderate.

50 episodes can be ok but it requires a good writer and good actors. Great dramas like My Father is Strange, Five Enough, Its all about my mom, etc are all 50 episodes but you dont even notice... bc there are so many characters and stories and interactions, IT TAKES TIME TO DEVELOP CHARACTER GROWTH and thats why you need 50 episodes...
To me, Iron Family started as a phenomenally great drama and should have gone to 50 episodes with a better script at the end. It ended too sharp too soon.

Koreans are conservative compared to say westerners who watch porn and violence like it is nothing, but Koreans are down to earth and very smart and sophisticated, and are fond of food and fun and love etc so I do not think they are some prude unreasonable people. I think they are common sense reasonable and quite heatlhy FUNCTIONAL people, generally speaking Yeah they are not angels of course LOL Ok - but I think they still manage well.

I think korean is a majorly SEXIST culture - like most cultures on planet Earth - and we see that in dramas, where plot is too often made by female stupidity and rashness. The USA is sexist too! it just looks different - it looks like a barbie doll... with push up bra and sleeping around and NO brains. The common denominator in sexism globally is that women have no brains, no money, and no power. UNLESS they hook up with a guy who will be their "front".

I agree with the k-viewers, the Chairman was pushing too fast, she WAS grieving. That is totally totally understandable.
I think what k-viewers are commenting as "angelic" is just the bigger picture of GS behavior and a part of it is what we call "lukewarm", I think "lukewarm" is included in that "angelic" vibe of a prim and proper prude cold woman who is not even curious and who does not let go of her stiffness even for one second. Basically, she is not alive.

after looking around, I found Salon De Holmes :) amazing kdrama. It is about "older" women - from 27 to 60 - so it is not taken by too many subbers :) but there is bili bili subber Cinematic_Echoes who did ... ahem.. somewhat... .. translate. The genders are reversed LOL but you get what they are saying. My only complaint about that drama is that it has too many murders and blood and fighting for my taste. What I like is that characters are shown in progression, evolving. Some pretty gnarly things come out and the characters grow. What I like about that drama is its "koreanness" and also it is universal, global "suburbia condo big city living" thing..... yet very cultural - it is a very fine balance - it is not some americanized thing for Netflix audience. It reminds me of old time dramas and masterpieces.

Similar to korean but I am not korean so mine have to be in english, unless koreans buy my script :) Ut definitely has tragi-comedy, and psychology and no murders, violence etc but some crime - as I am in experiencing stealing condominiums in Hawaii by corrupt judges and attorneys, under pretense of law, misusing the legal and judicual system, http://change.org/hawaiicondo is just the start of the story... when the judge did in he last 2 weeks is complete sci fi financial fraud... And then I am a dancer and I want to make a drama of that world and competition. And some funky family stuff...

Well I am there with you, exactly, she IS unconfortable with him. Bad acting is entirely possible, or bad directing. So far they are getting together because HE keeps dragging her and she goes reluctantly bc she cannot refuse bc he helps her when she needs help. I am not sure why she is writen that way is that a conspiracy to kill romance for korean women or what, but I noticed so many FLs who were so full of themselves they never even noticed the ML. They cannot act. Most KBS weekend dramas have FL like that, totally cold and not interested in the guy, and cannot act. Yong Lady and Gentleman, 3 Bold siblings, It;s beautiful now, Live your life ,,,, now this one... FL are all like that.

Of course she is officially like 25 yrs old but she FEELS like a teenager. Ok let's not call her a spoiled brat, but how would you call her - a drifter? a snowflake? a sponsored kid? I am not sure what she is living off.... all that time away from home. Then she says to Professor she loves him and then ... what?? nothing happens. Have they gone on a date? Have they spent time togehter doiing things, talking, sharing? Nope they didnt. They are kinda in love but do they ever sweettalk over the phone or in person? NOPE THEY DONT. I want to analyze this and figure out WHERE AND HOW this kdrama made a U turm from a brigh and peppy thing to a dead blah boring thing. I concluded it is bc for the last 20 episodes, there is no character growth. All characters are stuck where they were back then. The engaging plot is made when characters CHANGE internally. MIL definitely SHOULD live with them. THat's not the issue; The issue is that HE AND SHE come first, that kiss comes first, then MIL and everyone else. GS is not even happy to hear that he is planning the wedding date, has never called him to chat with him or to hang out with him, never flirted with him, etc. The script does not have her doing those things but even then, she COULD have some warm feelings and that actress just does NOT. That actress is as cold as ice and she dislikes DS actor too and cannot act . She is not capable of even acting romance with him.

Basically anything up and including the Piano playing episode made sense. Then - she ran away from home and had fun playing piano -then got a part time job - and then SHE WAS STUCK IN THAT STATE EVER SINCE
There was so much potential to show how she learned from Mi So... to show how she grew and learned how to cook, to make a living, to make a budget, to kiss her guy... and NOTHING happened. She just stayed a floating around bubblehead teenatger spoiled brat snowflake. It is BORING.

I think they got relatively high marks and are carefully KEEPING them trying not to upset the audience in any way and thus going conservative, but hey it is BORING.
It started good but then it flopped, and the main reason imo is that characters and relationships did not MAKE PROGRESS. They all stuck where they were at about ep 20.

Lukewarm GS being dragged around, Se Ri looking up to the Higher Authority without any ooomph to even hug or kiss the guy - any hug between them is a daddy consoling his child... Se Ri was left as a spoiled brat forever. And the senior blah-flavor CS-MS couple also looks totally retired and ready to die walking in the park slowly together spending their last days moving as snails. It is just ... BLAH - and doesnt piss off anyone? the drama is still getting high marks - so the makers are keeping it BLAH if it is gonna bring high reviews.
