If you are unlucky and are born into the modern world, the society will tell you that you are cooockooo and to quit it, so children just blot it out. So .... most adults in the modern world cannot see it.
BUT SOME ADULTS CAN SEE IT. I took a peek at this kdrama, bc I was interested to see how they conveyed the concept to the oblivious general public. The kdrama addresses the fact that practically all adults with psychic abilities are considered weird and shunned. And it is totally totally needless.... bc it is NORMAL to see non-visible things. All of us have those abilities, naturally. And we somewhat use them - we all "read" people all the time, we know if someone "feels good" or "dangerous" etc. We all read auras all the time, it is just not talked about :)

This kdrama relies a very basic concept in yoga, martial arts, chinese medicine, auyrveda, tantra, and many other cultural or spiritual background where sex is more honored, scientifically studied, medicinally studied. People with such background learn this growing up :)

The fact is, such CORDS EXISTS between people and connects them via the area of the belly under the belly button, forever. Any metaphysical person or people who can see auras can say that. I have seen those cords myself when a womanizer hit on me and I "saw" what I would be getting involved in. The cords reflect the quality of the relationship. Some cords look rotten and moldy.
Also, my research indicates if you are lucky, maybe you can get rid of that cord after some number of years, some people say 7 and some say more, but there are cords also between other parts of the body, so you maybe will NEVER get rid of them :)
