Chinese censorship doesn’t allow time travel and stories like that (you can read discussions about that in earlier comments). So in dramas they usually explain away such events as being in a dream/coma or everything occurring in a book, video game, etc.

Chinese characters are different in their names, but it’s an interesting coincidence :)

If there’s a season 2, most cast would probably change other than the main character. All of Han Li’s old friends & enemies are very, very far away geographically.

He also traveled back in time with FL. How all of that will be explained? We don’t know yet. They are hinting both are in a coma (showing patients in medical beds)

I haven’t watched donghua to see what they did with faces but I thought she’d look different. At any rate, don’t have to worry about NGW character until Season 3… and how many C-dramas have 3 seasons? 😳

NGW wouldn’t be back until Season 3, I guess (if there’s S3). And MCH’s reincarnation would be a different actress in Season 2… unless they decide to cast the same actress.

There was a Chinese-language ELLE article recently where they claimed overall budget is 300 million yuan and of that 200 million was spent on VFX/CGI.

Presumably, scene with him 200 years later would be in a hypothetical Season 3 (or end of Season 2). I think Season 2 would be him wandering around that new location.

Not confirmed yet. Depends on financial performance of this season. Meaning, even if Yang Yang is willing to return, it’s all about the money & financing.

Last 4-5 episodes felt a bit like a war movie where everyone’s saying farewell to each other as they are embarking on impossible missions from which there is no coming back. That’s what elevated this series for me, personally.

NGW probably would’ve stayed behind because she feels a bit of responsibility to protect others (her ties to this land are deeper). HL, on the other hand, is free to travel wherever. But, of course, that’s a hypothetical question.

This is just a teaser. Based on the novel, their relationship will develop further after Han Li returns.
