Haha… that’s setting expectations very high. That’s like saying there’s a better high school drama than WIFTY 😉

I haven’t watched it yet. But I do think “Fake It Till You Make It” is a great recommendation that MDL provides. That drama was 10/10 for me (best realistic adult romance Asian drama that I’ve watched; and only 14 episodes).

It’s also remarkably short — only 14 episodes. So it doesn’t drag things out too much.

Fair points. I wouldn’t think MDL people would love it as much but maybe this is one do those dramas where there are no armies of bots/haters/antifans who come to downrate the drama and we are seeing a true reflection of ratings. I don’t rate a drama until the end so without knowing an ending I tend to view early ratings with skepticism. We’ve all seen too many dramas where endings ruin things or get very messy & impact enjoyment / score.

Very valid point. That’s why I don’t pick sides in this drama. Both characters have obvious faults and drama isn’t afraid to point them out. But honestly that’s how real life works too — no one is perfect.

I’m not sure if you’ve watched it, but check out “Fake Till You Make It”. Despite the name, it’s probably the best realistic relationship drama. The author of that novel graduated from a top law school & was a corporate attorney in Beijing so she has very insightful view of how corporate world works (FL is an attorney & ML is an investment banker) and drama deals with many real topics that people face (not going to spoil anything 🫣).

It’s almost certain that Netflix will NOT have express package episodes. They have not learned to monetize demand yet and aren’t letting people pay extra for early access 🤣

Yes, it’s nice to have a real world view of office dating, especially dating the big boss. I’m not even sure how they could resolve this. Even if leads start working separate places and get married, there will be people who think she’s gotten where she is solely because of her relationship with him.

I guess the breakup everyone has been talong about is what’s going to happen now. But that’s not a huge spoiler because I kind of figured things would get messy based on FL’s voiceover at the start of ep. 1. Matter of fact, I’d say things have been going more smoothly than I anticipated. FL has infinite patience 🤣

Yea, I’ve rewatched the movie with friends recently and it’s remarkable how many of the non-lead actors are stars nowadays.

The movie version of Love O2O is better than the drama version. It’s way shorter and we don’t get bogged down in all the boring stuff. It also feels like CGI quality is higher.

Good to know, thank you. Dramas usually change a lot of things when they get adapted from novels/webtoons. But I totally understand FL — there’s no perfect solution for their situation. If they continue to work together and make relationship public, they people will think she’s gotten to her position because she is in a relationship with her boss. I’m curious how this gets resolved but, honestly, it’s a super hard situation. Even if they start working in different companies, people will whisper behind the scenes that her success is due to him,
etc. People always love to make drama 🙄

Anyway, neither leads are perfect and it’s okay. We have Luke the Dog 🐶and that’s enough 🥰

I don’t understand how people can romanticize Luke. Even the drama explicitly tells us that Luke has a lot flaws. His mom, his sister, his best friends — everyone has said to him or to her that Luke is far from perfect 🙄

If you’ve been around long enough, you learn to live with the fact that MDL ratings are unreliable. Everyone has different opinions about dramas. There are great dramas rated below 8 on MDL, especially if they don’t have stars or deal with heavier topics (not idol dramas). Having said that, I think people like this drama because it’s a rare thing to see a drama cover a longterm relationship like this and characters feel like real humans — they aren’t perfect, mess up, and things get messy just like they do in a real life.

I finished “Road Home” and can confidently tell you that you didn’t miss out on anything interesting. I love “Love Me, Love My Voice” and “Amidst a Snowstorm of Love” (both based on works of same author as “Road Home”) but RH felt very draggy (I believe source story was much shorter and they had to insert a bunch of filler material to make a long drama out of it).

Am I the only one who doesn’t understand why people bring up the matchmaking event? She was there as a staff not as a participant. And her profile was being used without her knowledge.

Shebhas visited her parents for holidays a few times (2-3?) in the 18 episodes that have aired so far but I can’t remember exactly which ones, sorry 😣

We need more dramas about longterm relationships instead of fairy tales that end with a kiss & beginning of romance. Relationships aren’t easy and this should be acknowledged.
