This is exactly my issue with this setup, there's a lot of other problems too but this is the biggest one. The…
You say in your first sentence that he was immature but then proceeds to say that he is level headed and that most people in his situation will probably go mad… in that case, based on what you are saying, he shows a great deal of maturity.
We also need to remember that 17yrs old back then is not 17 of today. This is a historical setting drama.
Also, so far, no one on this thread was expecting smooth sailing love. The complain is that it happened too quick. The man had just lost all the males in his family plus his mother. He came back and was already not trusting fl and yet, less than what seems to be a year, he is all about loving a person who keeps rejecting him.
He is not acting normal (for us common humans watching the drama) as you mentioned that most people would have lost their minds over grief. Romance between them could happen but not this quick with him acting like a trauma free teenager. I would think someone who carried 6 of his dead siblings and his dad in their coffins coming back from war would need at least 4yrs to emotionally get back up a little.
Have you watched “the legend of Hao Lan”? I’d like your opinion.
Yeah, Ruyi is not easy for the soul… I’ve seen “Destined” and really enjoyed it.
I started “Perfect Match” but dropped on the second episode. For some reasons the drama gave me the impression that it’d be one where men are emasculated. I like a good romance but I want both genders to be represented well and in a respectful way. If you say it’s good, I’ll give it a chance again 😊.
Thank you! It has become one of my fav drama as well. Truly, no plot device was wasted at all. I never expected…
The actor who played Yuan Chunwang did such a great job that when I see him in other dramas, i automatically remember “Yanxi’s Palace”. I liked him early on but I could tell he was mentally unstable.
I agree with you, show us from the beginning that you are bad and stay consistent. Consort Gao and the evil princess in “The Double” are 2 of my favorite villains.

Ruyi made me depressed for a while, so good but my heart was a mess for some time lol… “Are you the one” was one that I also enjoyed but the last few episodes felt rushed but it’s still good.

Same! I had completely forgotten about her sister but I’m happy the revenge happened. You know who else I really enjoyed in the drama? “ Noble Consort Gao“, such a good villain.

The cinematography, the acting and the pace was excellent. The part that rose my blood pressure was her relationship with “Lu Buwei” character. If you do watch, let me know your thoughts but I had to give you the heads up 😅.
Lol i guess im not the only one who noticed the botox. I agree actors and actresses.. its kind of to their disadvantage…
It’s a tragedy for us viewers and yes both actors and actresses are doing this.
That scene where ML was hurt and she thought he was dying and she was there with her emotionless face and crying without tears 🫠. That’s just one example among many.
80% of the actors jobs is in facial expressions (imo). They are all Botoxed and too worried about crying “pretty”, it’s like watching robots pretending to be humans.
How are we supposed to relate to the characters when they give us something bland like that? We are watching emotional scenes without emotions and as viewers, what’s the point?!
I’m the one who will tell you to drop it, I did and it’s freeing. I come to the comments to see if it picks…
I understand and you are right, there’s a drought in dramaland lately. TBH the whole 2025 in dramaland has been underwhelming for me so far. I had to lower my standards a lot this year, hoping the upcoming dramas will be better quality.

How about “Royal Feast”?
Fuca Fuheng's death was an abomination, so unnecessary 😔. The death of the maid that had the needles in the body was also upsetting.
Disclaimer: “the actress/actor is supposed to be very angry and hurt”.
Actor’s face on screen: 😶 “I’m so angry right now!””
